Epic Release Date Face-Off Thingy!

Up until a month ago, two huge movies were vyingfor the same release date. For a while there it wasSuperman v Batman versus Captain America 3. Both Warner Bros and Marvelwere adamant that May 6th 2016 was the ideal weekend to launch two very expensive flagship movies. In the end, Warner Bros blinked. Dawn of Justice (younger sister of Buffy of Justice) will now be released in March 2016.

Do you reckon this guy ever blinks?

Another project, almost as highly anticipated as Batman v Superman, has...

We Don’t Want No PSAs

cca_logoI’m posting this not to elicit sympathy or support, though both are welcome, but as a kind of Public Service Announcement. Yeah I hate them too but this one is important so please read it.

Late last year my wife was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. As you can imagine, that wasn’t a fun day and we’ve been dealing with the repercussions ever since. The good news is her cancer was caught early and was confirmed as stage 1. According to the multitude of scans and tests she’s undergone, there is n...

Fantasy For Good – Mega Update!

What’s going on with Fantasy For Good?

It’s been a while since I posted to my blog, for reasons that I’ll not go into yet. Fantasy For Good, the charity anthology I’m editing with Jordan Ellinger, has not been neglected though. We’ve assembled a kick ass line up of established legends, modern trailblazers and new talent in an anthology that will appeal to all fans of the fantasy genre. All these great folks are joining us to raise money for the Colon Cancer Alliance.

Fantasy For Good – Submissions Update

Fantasy For GoodIf you submitted a story to the Fantasy For Good open subs window, Jordan and I would like to sincerely thank you for sending us your work. This post contains a list of all the titles we received, so you can check to make sure we’re considering your story and it didn’t get lost.

First though, an update on where we are with the anthology. We received 106 stories during our open reading period. For a fantasy anthology, that’s pretty good. Nearly everyone followed the guidelines, for which we’re...

Fantasy For Good – Open Subs Deadline Extension

Fantasy For Good

Apologies for the silence on this blog over the past month or so. I’ve been travelling the last two weeks and before that the day job reared its time-consuming head and swallowed me whole. But now I’m back with some news on Fantasy For Good, the charity anthology that Jordan Ellinger and I are editing for the benefit of the Colon Cancer Alliance.

Previously we announced a reading window for open submissions ranging from July 1st to August 31st (see the guidelines here). We have decided to exte...

Three Anthologies

It’s anthology day on July 10th, or at least it is for me. Firstly, there’s this:

Fantasy For Good

It’s been a busy few weeks for Fantasy For Good, the new anthology I’ve launched with Jordan Ellinger to benefit colon cancer research and awareness. We’re now open for submissions, and we will be until August 31st. If you’d like to submit a fantasy short story in any sub-genre, we’d love to see it. Please follow the guidelines for the sake of our sanity. You have until August 31st to submit. SUBMIT! You WILL sub...

Free Short Story!

Yes it’s true, I’m hosting a short story on my site that is completely free. You can read it right now with no strings attached. There are no forms to fill out, no ads to click on, just a free read for all visitors to this site who might be interested.

The story isYestermorrow, a time-bending SF tale that first appeared in Solaris Rising – the New Solaris Book of Science Fiction. It appears on this site with the kind permission of editor Ian Whates and Solaris head honcho Jonathan Oliver.

About Bloody Time!

Hello dear readers. Yes, it’s certainly been a long time since I posted an update to this fair site. I’m sure you’ve been unable to breathe in the meantime, so I’m sorry if you ended up asphyxiating on my account. The day job bestowed upon me a promotion at the start of 2013 and things have been insanely hectic ever since. My writing output for the last five months has slumped to almost nothing.

But stuff has happened. Oh yes! It has happened. Let’s crack on with some exciting updates!

Firstly,...

World’s Collider goes Italian!

There have been lots of fantastic reviews for World’s Colliderrecently, but the most unusual is certainly this one from Il Futuro E’ Tornato. Yes, it’s all in Italian. You can try Google Translate, like I did, but you’ll find the result is rather garbled. It’s difficult to tell whether or not they like it at all! So I turned to an old friend of mine, Tristan Tarrant, a genuine Italian andone of my old university housemates. Tristan graciously agreed to translate and you’ll find the readable E...

This Is How You Die

This Is How You Die is the follow up to the enormously successful, internationally famousMachine of Death. My story,Your Choice, made the cut despite going up against over 2,000 submissions! This is both amazing and very humbling, and I’m absolutely delighted to be a part of this ongoing phenomenon.

Mine is a choose-your-own-adventure style story, but more than that I can’t say. It was a blast to write, though it took a lot of effort to get all the various moving parts lined up. I’m delighted t...
