Baggage updates
Elizabeth at Eneit Press has done a sumamry of the most recent swag of Baggage blogtour bits: http://www.eneitpress.com/blog.php?journal=1
And tomorrow I shall have the list of Canberra writers and their novels. Well, some Canberra writers and their novels. The ones who could email me details, mostly, but maybe a couple of others if I can find time to hunt details.

I'm terribly grumpy today, for no good reason (except, perhaps for the whacking great ordinary headache that has finally pushed the migraine out of the way and said "My turn."). I have my lists of things to do before AussieCon and they would diminish much faster if I got past my grump and just worked through them.
I'm doing well at the various other things I had to do.
My 33 books that have to be read by this Wednesday? I've read 45 of them. If I can read two more, I shall be mostly under...

Remic and Thorpe (two Angry Robot books)
Where I catch up on the last of my Angry Robot novels before AussieCon...
The Crown of the Blood (Gav Thorpe) is an old-fashioned sword and sorcery romp. There's not a great deal of sorcery, but there's lots of fighting and plotting and planning to conquer.
It's a fun book overall, if you like old-fashioned fantasy worlds with politics and conquering. It would be a much more fun book if it had women. Most female characters are wives and the scenes with them are all about placating mostly-ab...

I spent a large chunk of today at the doctor's. I'm progressing nicely overall, but have an all-new battery of tests after AussieCon, plus my return visit to the cardiologist. I managed to finish Paul Davies' book while I was waiting, and to talk about AussieCon and Dr Who with the young guys in the Chinese grocery. They persuaded me to buy lots of leafy green vegies "I have to sell it," one confided. "He has to sell it," his friend reinforced.
I've nearly finished the Angry Robot books. I...

Today I taught colour wheels for writing, or how to find that precise shade you're looking for. Our word of the day was 'intrepid.' And I taught and have done bits of work since through a vast migraine fog. It's better than it was yesterday and the day before, but I still hurt and things are still slow.
Should I try for the world whingeing record? Or should I tell you other stuff?
The other stuff is mainly that I should have another Angry Robot book read by tomorrow, which means an Angry ...

We have Weather (possibly still incoming, but Weather). My brain seems to have short-circuited. The rest of my evening has been cancelled.
In other news, my paper for AussieCon is the right length. I knew we had Weather because I read it aloud and the words didn't want to work. While the words slid around lazily, I pondered the joys of migraines. So my paper makes no sense and has no conclusion, but it's the right length. If there's anyone not going to AussieCon who would like to have a qu...

Even Baggage has baggage: Monica Carroll on "The fish GP rejects."
Anthologies contain stories: they also travel their own storyline as they are created. Working on an anthology feels a bit like living a novel where a play is being put on and all the characters are important and will come together on the right way, at the right time and produce something quite magic. Living through that story is endlessly fascinating.
Monica's section of our storyline was of special interest. I learned a lot about the intersection of poetry and tale through working with h...

time to look at my website
One of the thing I intend to do later in the week (time permitting) is to clean up my website a little. My work experience student gave me a template for tidying, and it's about time I acted on it. This isn't a full redesign, just a tidying and maybe updating content. I know I need to start from scratch and make it modern and etc, but I don't have time. I can, however, make it significantly better.
Is there anything you'ld like to see on the website? Would you like more FAQishness - and, ...

I decided to ignore the tallies on all the news websites today and went straight to the Electoral Commission. There I discovered that all the news websites are still making intelligent guesses. Also, that my vote will be counted this week.
In other words, the AEC hasn't yet counted absentee votes, postal votes and other odds and sods. This used to be a small number of votes, but this year, they say, it's up to 2 million.
We must be really annoying the major parties right now, us Canberran...
