thank you!

As for Mal… gonna bob and weave a bit because I’d really like to know who you guys could see in the role. I love seeing how readers picture the characters.

Let me just say this movie news is AWESOME! And I want to start a campaign for Judi Dench as Baghra.

Thank you!! I always pictured Baghra as a kind of evil ballet teacher. Not that I speak from any kind of traumatic early childhood experience. At all.

Dreamworks! Harry Potter! Movie Rights!

I’m a bit late to the announcement because I’m in Germany, but here’s the headline from EW.com:

‘Harry Potter’ producer to make ‘Shadow and Bone’ fantasy for DreamWorks

I think that deserves the big font.

And here’s one with some really lovely quotes about the book.

I’ve been sitting on this news for a while and it just about killed me. In fact, I did a panel on YA movies at Worldcon and practically had to sew my mouth shut.

Sure, I hoped that someone might take an interest in making Shadow and Bone into a film. But to have it happen in this way, with these incredible people involved… it’s just not the kind of thing you let yourself hope for because, really, what are the chances?

I wish I could toast with every single person who bought the book or checked it out of a library or recommended it to a friend. I wish I could hug every bookseller who put it into a reader’s hands and every blogger who talked it up online. I’m grateful for every tweet, every gif, every bit of support, and I wish I could take you all out for cake. But until the Kings and Queens of Science figure out how to make that possible, I’ll settle for saying, THANK YOU. Somewhere in Berlin, there is a very happy author doing a very goofy dance.

Love this piece so much. You can pick your own quote for the interior, but the fact that Viviane used part of Mal’s speech in the one she gave me just killed me. Wearing it right now.

My Klimt is showing!

Broke out the watercolors and metallic paint and had a bit of fun. If you’re feeling stiff, digital artist friends, try working traditionally! I felt like I loosened up quite a bit. The lettering just happened first try, too, which never happens! You and me, Wiener Werkstätte, we were meant to be…! (I’m sorry the scan is so dreadful!)

Alina and the Darkling of the Grisha trilogy belong to the very charming Leigh Bardugo.

I fall on the floor. BECAUSE I AM DYING.

I saw one of your posts that sometimes you fall harder for the troublesome characters vs the hero. I felt that way with ATLA. While I loved Aang, I found myself more invested in Zuko and his story, even when he was the antagonist and doing some not so good

First of all, much love to all Zuko fans! As I’ve said before, one of the reasons I like him is that I’m drawn to characters who aren’t just one thing. Alina’s choices aren’t always good or noble or right. Might be a very different book if told from the Darkling’s POV.
