How old is The Darkling? I'm picturing him as a 25/26 year old guy.

That’s certainly how old he looks.

Perhaps I missed it, but how old is Ivan? Because right now I picture him as Liev Schreiber, lol. Ivan's personality just reminds me of a character Liev would play I guess, haha.

He’s a few years older than Alina, but I love the Liev Schreiber call. Love watching him in anything, and though I pictured Ivan differently, somehow I think he could rock Ivan’s arrogance like nobody’s business.

The Kills - Cheap And Cheerful

I’m bored of cheap and cheerful
I want expensive sadness
Hospital bills, parole
Open doors to madness

I want you to be crazy
‘Cause you’re boring baby when you’re straight
I want you to be crazy
‘Cause you’re stupid baby when you’re sane

I’m sick of social graces
Show your sharp tipped teeth
Lose your cool in public
Did the legal meet

‘Cause love is just a dialogue
You can’t survive on ice-cream
You got the same needs as a dog

It’s alright (it’s alright)
To be mean (to be mean)
It’s alright (it’s alright)
To be mean (to be mean)

I want you to be crazy
‘Cause you’re boring baby when you’re straight
I want you to be crazy
‘Cause you’re stupid baby when you’re sane

It’s alright (it’s alright)
To be mean (to be mean)
It’s alright (it’s alright)
To be mean (to be mean)

It’s alright (it’s alright)
To be mean (to be mean)
It’s alright (it’s alright)
To be mean (to be mean)

I want you to be crazy
‘Cause you’re boring baby when you’re straight
I want you to be crazy
‘Cause you’re stupid baby when you’re sane

I want you to be crazy
‘Cause you’re boring baby when you’re straight
I want you to be crazy
‘Cause you’re stupid baby when you’re sane

Love her!

Hee! The background on this is what’s killing me. Soooo gorgeous. And I LOVE The Kills.

AHEM.

yallfest2012:

A question from the history and mystery panel at Yallfest: “What do YOU think the collective noun for a group of YA authors should be?”

Tell us!

#yallfest

I dubbed it a “Squee of YA Authors” back at SDCC so that gets my vote. #yallfest2012

Hi! *waves* I wanted to say you’re book was so awesomely amazing! I was wondering if there were specific things that inspired things in Shadow and Bone or just inspired you to write a book in general.

Thank you!

Lots of things inspired Shadow and Bone— the Small Science was inspired by an argument (lively discussion?) I had with some friends after seeing Minority Report, the world building was inspired by Russian history and folklore, the Shadow Fold was inspired by a very scary moment at the end of a darkened hallway.

As for writing a book, it was something I’d always wanted to do. But the trick wasn’t in the inspiration, it was in sitting down and actually finishing it.

Gendering Fantasy - It’s on! I’ve been added to Sarah Mesle’s Gender & YA panel at UCLA on November 26th.

If you missed her piece in the LARB yesterday, YA Fiction and the End of Boys, let’s just say, THERE IS MUCH TO DISCUSS.

Come on out, wontcha?

Sorry. I meant how many total sets of abs. But it's perfectly fine if you want to speculate how many in one set of abs.

The abs count in the Grisha Trilogy operates on an escalating scale.

Shadow and Bone - no abs

Siege and Storm - one set of abs

Ruin and Rising - mulitple sets of abs

Please make a note of this in your records.
