ironmouse:
For my senior Wintersession thesis at RISD last year, I retold a Grimm’s tale, “The Glass Coffin,” in comic form, with a focus on twisting the classic archetypes. It was where I got to fully flesh out my princess characters Afrina and Bahram, which I post a lot of on here (rather shamelessly; sorry).
I never finished coloring and lettering the pages, and there’s about 50 drawn pages of the comic somewhere in my boxes… but here’s the first 10 in their incomplete stages. You can see the thumbnails in this post, and what the first page actually ended up looking like. It’s actually quite embarrassing to look at these now, but I’m also encouraged by seeing how much I’ve improved since then.
For my SHADOW & BONE friends, I think you can understand why I was particularly drawn to the world of Ravka. My Glass Coffin world was built from Balkan and Russian influences, and there’s even a stag in it as an important character!
Don’t know how I missed this before. But YEAH. I SEE IT. (and I luff it.)
