Dear Leigh, I'm not sure if you have already answered this question, but what was the final word count for Shadow and Bone? I'm curious because I'm almost finished with my own novel. I know that "the story is done when it's done", but I'm just really curi

So I went back into my gmail to get an answer for you (and got a little choked up reading my original exchange with Jo).

The MS I queried with was 72K. I think the final book was somewhere between 80 and 85K?

Exciting that your novel is almost complete. Good luck with next steps

You can be a fan of something and critique and analyze it.

You can be a fan and do none of the above.

You don’t have to be young. You don’t have to be thin. You don’t have to be “hot” in a way that some dumbfuckedly narrow mindset has construed that word. You don’t have to have taut flesh or a tight ass or an eternally upright set of tits.

You have to find a way to inhabit your body while enacting your deepest desires. You have to be brave enough to build the intimacy you deserve. You have to take off all of your clothes and say, “I’m right here. ”

I've always wondered if the Darkling truly had feelings for Alina... I kind of felt like he did but then again all he thought about was power and she was just another way he could get it. I don't know I want them to be together but Mal is so sweet and perf

This is why I’d prefer not to do a Darkling POV until after the trilogy is complete and on shelves. How often do we get to see directly into someone else’s heart? Particularly when that person’s heart is closely guarded? I like that ambiguity.
