Hi Leigh, really big fan of your work and I am looking forward to ruin and rising. You seem to tour around a lot with different authors and I was wondering if you would ever come to some cities in Canada other than Vancouver and Toronto. I live in the cent
Thanks for the kind words, Canadian anon. I get some of the nicest fanmail from all over Canada and would love to tour there. That said, I’m not sure what the logistics of a Canadian tour would be. BIG COUNTRY, yes? When we tour the US, we hit a new city pretty much every day and we still don’t get to all of the places we’d like to.
But let us not give up hope! Let the people on the Shadow and Bone FB page know where you want me in Canada. I do plan to tour for Ruin and Rising, and this way your town will at least be on their radar.
Hope to see you soon

Hello Leigh! I was wondering, I'm considering visiting you at one of your tour locations (though it's a far shot right now, I'm saving money to go on a grand road trip to the nearest one). I'm assuming you're doing book signings, so my question is this: I
Hello, anon!
I hope you can make it to one of the signings. I am quite fond of road trips and very flattered when people take them to visit me. I like to shower these people with treats.
Okay, so Maggie Stiefvater wrote a very good post about the signing of ARCs and the etiquette of buying books at signings. I hope you’ll take a look at it, but here’s my policy:
1. I will gladly sign your ARC. Come to the event! (See above. Treats!)
2. Even if you don’t buy a finished copy of my book, I would love it if you bought a book by one of the other Fierce Reads authors or really any book in the store because it will help keep that book store in business and help pay for them to host more events.
Please do read Maggie’s post. And please do get your face to the signing

The word sword comes from the Old...

The word sword comes from the Old English sweord, cognate to swert, "to wound, to cut".
The sword is symbolic of liberty and strength. In the Middle Ages, the sword was often used as a symbol of the word of God. The names given to many swords in mythology, literature, and history reflect the high prestige of the weapon and the wealth of the owner.

James Chapman’s animal sounds...

James Chapman’s animal sounds illustrations are so cool!
When I was doing a language immersion program in Japan, I was in a class with people from Germany, Sweden, Taiwan, a few other countries that I’m forgetting at the moment, and another girl from the US. We were having a lazy day so the teacher asked around the room what eating noises in our native countries were; all of our classmates’s sounds were so adorable, then the teacher turned to me and the other American and we just looked at each other before shouting “NOM NOM NOM”
DEEPLY adorable.

Shadow and Bone photo manipulation fairy tale challenge: Beauty and the Beast
So I am starting this little challenge where I compare the book to some well known fairy tales and then photo manipulating costumes and actresses and what not (this took forever to photo manipulate Taissa with the costume). Obviously the Darkling is the beast where as Alina is Belle, placed in an unknown environment against her will.
Reminds me a bit of the cover of The Too-Clever Fox
