Begin as you mean to go on

I’m a firm believer in starting the New Year on the right foot i.e. on January 1st, 2014, WRITE SOMETHING.

In that spirit, I’m thinking of hosting a few writing sprints on 1/1. They’ll start at noon (a civilized hour for the hangover I intend to be nursing) and the goal will be to work on any project you have brewing.

Anyone interested in joining?

Red Herry: 7 Best Television Social Media Accounts of 2013:

dedalvs:

Mwa, ha, ha! I tricked the folks at Red Herry into selecting this Tumblr as the second best TV social media account of 2013! Now I can realize my true goal: Selling knock off off-brand t-shirts and earning millions!

Get your OFFICIAL Garne of Thrones T’s here! 90% off Defiants jackets and hoodies! Selling replica Thorr: The Dark Wood hammers and mason jars!!!

In truth, though, I know I wouldn’t be here had I not reblogged this post by shialabeowulf. As I’ve noted before, the post is often misattributed to me, but I didn’t create it: I just reblogged it. If you followed me for that post, I urge you to give shialabeowulf a follow. If you stayed for the language and cat posts, then let me assure you, there will be more language posts, and more cats.

Much more of cat.

(I deal primarily in cat.)

Apparently there have been units assigned to track the herd for years, depending on how cracked the current king or Darkling is. Now this Darkling wants the efforts stepped up. Rumors are he wants the stag for you.

Ohhhh! When Octahvia asked me what kind of graphic I wanted for Christmas, I said something inspired by Mal’s letter. But this is so much more lovely than I imagined. And very gifty.

Thank you so much!! And happiest holidays

Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating or who just like a little wassail. Hope you get what you want. And if you don’t, may your vengeance be swift and pointy.

Confession: At first glance, I thought this was Sleepy Hollow fanart. It’s all about the classics, people.

Despite the 80 degree weather here in LA, seemed like a good time to share this again. Because snow!

I wrote and recorded this song—inspired by Shadow and Bone—a while back with the help of some amazing friends including a few of my former bandmates. If you want to read about how we turned Aaron’s living room into a recording studio and how two women become an entire choir, you can do that here.

I should have anticipated another betrayal from you, one more mad grasp at some kind of childish ideal. But I seem to be a victim of my own wishes where you are concerned.

In the author interview you posted a while back you mention the Dragonlance series. Sounds cool by the name but looks sprawling from googling. Where would you suggest starting?

Start with Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Spring Dawning, and Dragons of Winter Night. If I remember correctly, this trilogy basically stands on its own. (I still have many Sturm feels. Also, LAURANA. She starts out weak, but just you wait.) My favorites are the three Twins books (Time of the Twins etc.) that follow immediately after. They focus on my darling Raistlin.

Let me know what you think. I haven’t read the books since junior high and I’m sort of curious to know if they hold up.

Yours in adventure,

The Golden General
