The Huffington Post is talking about the All the Bright Places movie! (I love being included with the film’s director, Miguel Arteta, and our star, Elle Fanning!)

I still can’t believe I’m writing the script!!!!

‘All the Bright Places’ movie news!

Many of you know that Elle Fanning signed on to play Violet Markey last July of 2014, months before All the Bright Places came out, but we now have a director and a screenwriter!

*screams*

He says, “Violet and Finch’s achingly heartfelt and authentic story is the most convincing portrayal of teenage life I have ever come across. It’s such a privilege to bring it to the screen with the help of its engaging author and the great support of Demarest Media and The Mazur Kaplan Company, who couldn’t be more passionate about Jennifer’s book and this adaptation.”

And the person who’s writing the script is………….

Me!

*faints*

Mazur/Kaplan optioned the book last year and Demarest Media is financing and producing the picture alongside them.

My official quote: “All the Bright Places is a very personal story for me. Mazur/Kaplan, Miguel, and Demarest Media have given the book and me the most wonderfully supportive, creative home, and they are as invested in Finch and Violet as I am.“

Every word is true. For those of you who are understandably worried about the book going from page to screen, I am here to reassure you– everyone from Elle Fanning to Miguel Arteta to the producers and financiers are passionate about honoring Finch and Violet and the story I told in the book.

In April, I traveled to Indiana with Miguel, producer Paula Mazur of Mazur/Kaplan, executive producer Leif Lillehaugen of Demarest Media, and my amazing agent, Kerry Sparks. We wandered to all the sites Finch and Violet wandered in the book, including the Blue Flash roller coaster in the back yard of John and Sharon Ivers.

Now that I can talk about the script writing, I’m going to post weekly updates on the process, the search to #FindFinch, and all sorts of other film news.

But for now… I have a script to write!
