"Rhyn's Redemption:" End of Trilogy, Beginning of Rhyn Eternal Series
When I started the Rhyn Trilogy, it was with the intention of ending it after three books. I figured I'd detail Katie and Rhyn's relationship and how they eventually became a couple. However, this past fall, after seeing the overwhelming reader support and feedback for the series to continue beyond the three books, I developed a different plan.
I now consider the Rhyn Trilogy to be a prequel to the Rhyn Eternal series and more of a history of how all the players got to where they are when the Rhyn Eternal series launches this September. The Rhyn Eternal series will include more books on Katie and Rhyn as they grow into their roles, and books on other popular characters, such as Gabriel, Rhyn's brothers, Hannah, Rhyn's daughter, etc., and the ongoing struggle with the Dark One.
With that in mind, I feel I need to tell everyone: "Rhyn's Redemption" doesn't end with all the loose ends tied up. It doesn't resolve all the issues, win the war with demons and it doesn't end happily for every character. What it does is bring Katie and Rhyn together – and set the stage for the Rhyn Eternal series, because Rhyn and Katie will need each other for the upcoming books.
Fair warning …

Rhyn's Redemption Excerpt #2
Muwahahahaha … er, I mean, I hope you enjoy this excerpt.
Same notes as before: excerpt contains profanity and hasn't been edited by the lovely Christine yet, so ignore my abuse of grammar for now. "Rhyn's Redemption" will be available next weekend on BN, Amazon (US and UK), iTunes (all stores), and Smashwords! Those on my mailing list will receive an email as soon as it's out. To sign up for the mailing list, click here.
I've had tons of people leave comments/send emails the past week. Now that revisions on Redemption are done (and Christine has it!) I'll work on catching up the next couple of days! Sorry for the delay!
Excerpt from "Rhyn's Redemption" (Book III, Rhyn Trilogy)
"Darkyn won this round," Death said.
"What did you do with Katie?" Rhyn demanded. A quick look around the chamber in Death's palace revealed no sign of his mate.
"You led him here, Rhyn, a sin made worse by the fact my own weakness made my domain vulnerable," she continued. "But, I'm going to remedy this."
"I don't give a shit! Where – "
Death held out two small emeralds – the form souls took when mortals and immortals died-dead. Rhyn's breath left him. She snapped them back up in her hand and put them in her pocket.
"You swore you'd free her!" he whispered, stricken.
"I can give her back to you," Death said slowly. "But it means this." She held out her hand again. A hologram-like image appeared in her hand.
Rhyn saw the demons pouring from the skies over major cities in the mortal world. He turned away, not wanting to care about the cost of getting his mate back.
"Look at it!" Death commanded.
His body obeyed her, and he found himself struggling against himself not to turn around. Death won the fight for his body, and he watched. Demons slaughtered humans and immortals alike, razing the mortal world.
"This happened once before, long ago," Death said and held out her other hand. "Gabe remembers. This is when I found him."
Rhyn saw the young man he assumed was Gabriel fighting demons appear in the image in her other hand.
"It was stopped by the Dark One, who knew what I'd do if he didn't stop it," she said. "Darkyn led this assault without the Dark One's permission. He was banished deep into Hell. This time, I can do nothing, and they know it. If you ask me, I will give Katie and your child back to you. The price will be this." She held up the hand holding the scenes of demons destroying the mortal world.
Protect what's left of good in the world.
Rhyn gripped and released the dagger, struggling between the tiny voice that reminded him of his promise to Katie and the vision before him. If he took back his mate and child, there would be nowhere safe for them to go. But he didn't want to live eternity without her.
"Rhyn … " Kris murmured. "You have a duty to protect all mortals, not just one."
"Will you take my soul in exchange for Katie's?" Rhyn asked.
"If she were alive, that might work. Once I claim a soul, the price climbs. And in this case, the price is beyond my control," Death answered.
Rhyn stared at the scenes playing out in Death's outstretched hands. His heart grew heavy as he watched demons kill humans by the hundreds. The promise he'd made to keep Katie happy made him feel sick, and duty would never fill the hollow part of him that would remain during a lifetime without his mate.
"Choose, demon," Death ordered him. "Your mate or the fate of humanity."
Maybe Katie had known this was how it would end when they'd last met in his dream. Maybe this was his penance for being what he was. Rhyn didn't know, but he knew he couldn't choose his own interests over those of humanity.
"Is she safe and happy?" he asked.
"She is," Death answered. "I made certain of that."
"As much as I love her, I can't condemn her kind to the demons."
Available weekend of March 23rd.

Excerpt from Chapter 8
"So, hey, Brenton, ya thirsty?" Kora inquired, taking a seat next to me. "Because if you are Kevin will go with ya." She looked at Kevin, then at Brenton.
"Yeah," Kevin said, catching the very subtle hint in her voice.
Seeing the look on her face I immediately realized that something was up, and that she was needing to talk about something privately. Alone. With me.
Brenton looked confused, then comprehension fogged over his expression. "Yeah, OK. I guess I could use a coke or something. Ya want something, Clare?"
"Beer, please," I answered sweetly.
"You got it!" He gestured to Kevin. "Come on, Kev. Your girlfriend thinks I need a babysitter or something."
Kevin laughed and followed Brenton.
When they were out of earshot I glared directly into Kora's eyes. "OK, I know something's up. Spill it."
Her laid-back smile changed into a straight line, her face serious. "Nick's here—and you are not gonna believe who his date is."Hearing Nick's name caused me to shudder, remembering the night he'd threatened me if I didn't get him back with Kora. Remarkably after that talk he'd kept his distance from Kora and me both, going out with a couple of different girls a week.
"OK, I'll bite—who's his date?"
She leaned closer to me, whispering, "Daria."
My mouth fell open as waves of astonishment rolled into me. "No way!"
"Yes way," she responded, taking a gulp of her beer. "Look over toward the bathrooms."
Sure enough there was Nick by the bathrooms, his arm hanging casually over Daria's shoulders. As usual Daria's crew was there, also with a couple of flunkies hanging on them."What a scuzz!" I commented nastily. "Out of all the girls in this town, he picks your number one enemy to date. How pathetic is that?"
Kora cracked a lopsided grin. "Yeah. You'd think I'd be jealous, but I'm completely cool about the whole thing."
"Are you really?"
"Of course," she replied, still posting her lopsided grin. "Besides, I'm the lucky one—I'm with Mr. Right." She giggled, finishing off her beer. Glancing back at Nick and Daria, something invaded my eyes that literally almost stopped myheart. I rubbed my eyes with my fists, thinking they were blurry from all the smoke hovering in the air. But no. What I was seeing was really there.
Just above Nick's head was a rolling black cloud—at least, that's the best way I could describe it. It shimmered as it swirled, a mixture of black and gray. A warm sensation began in the palms of my hands, only this time it was different. This time the heat would intensify, then stop, then intensify, like a beating pulse. I took a peek at my hands and for the briefest of seconds it appeared that they were aglow with a bright red light, pulsating with the heat. After a few seconds the discomfort in my hands ceased.
Okay, that was different.

Guest post by USA Today bestselling author RaeAnne Thayne
I don't have to tell you how excited I was when RaeAnne's publicist contacted me about reviewing her latest book, Woodrose Mountain, AND arranging for a guest blog post. I mean, really, how often do you have the chance to feature a USA Today bestselling author whose written a couple dozen awesome books?! I'll post her book review next week. (For those who don't know, I'm moving this week and will be without internet for a few days!)
RaeAnne's latest, Woodrose Mountain, is available for pre-order from Amazon, Amazon UK, and Barnes and Noble. The book will be released 27 March.
Here's RaeAnne!
I love happy endings. I love reading them and writing them. I suppose that's no real surprise, since I've written forty romance novels, a few dozen short stories and handful of novellas in the last twenty years. I find something so beautiful and empowering in writing about two people struggling through challenges and sometimes pain on their journey to finding each other. That's why I love romance novels and have been reading them since I was in junior high school.
I think what I love most about the genre is that no matter the kind of story, whether it's about shape-shifting demons or cowboys or rogue dukes, that emotional journey toward trusting someone else with your heart inevitably ends with joy and the promise of unlimited happiness for the characters.
Over the years, the stories I've written have changed a little. I used to be drawn to romantic suspense, tales of heart-stopping intrigue and mystery and danger. I still love those kinds of books. But even when I was writing about scary situations, my books tended to focus most on the emotional impact those events had on my characters and their relationships with their families and friends. I suppose it was logical that my writing would shift over the years to more character-driven stories about community and family.
These days, my characters might no longer have to escape a vicious murderer or extricate themselves from a collapsing cave but they still have tough problems to overcome – the death of a spouse, a messy divorce, a child with a serious health condition.
The underlying message of all my stories, no matter the subgenre, is that while it is virtually impossible to walk on this earth and not endure some struggles and tough situations on your journey, joy and happiness can still be found if we make the effort to reach beyond our fears – whatever they might be.
My town of Hope's Crossing, Colorado, has suffered in recent years with tragedy and loss. In my current book, Woodrose Mountain, the hero's daughter was seriously injured in a car accident early in the first book of my Hope's Crossing series, Blackberry Summer. My heroine, Evie Blanchard, must overcome fears of her own in order to help this young girl who needs her.
I loved writing about Evie and Brodie and was so thrilled to help them find their own happy ending!
