Lizzy’s books now available from Bookshare, a website for readers with print disabilities

I recently joined a group of authors who donated their books to Bookshare.org, a non-profit organization supported by the US Department of Education.  The purpose of the website is to offer ebooks to readers with print disabilities.  The books are uploaded into the Bookshare system, and readers are provided with special technology that reads the books to them, so they can enjoy books they may not be able to otherwise.  It’s an awesome concept that was brought to my attention by one of my readers on Twitter!

If you all know of any readers with print disabilities, Bookshare offers low-to-no cost ebook subscriptions to qualifying individuals.

I intend to continue providing my future books to Bookshare, too. For authors in Lizzyland, I encourage you to check out the Bookshare website and consider contributing your books as well!

Lizzy offers ebook subscriptions: 10 ebooks for $19.99

I’m happy to announce the newest product in our store: ebook subscriptions.  10 ebooks for $19.99!  It’s a savings of at least $10.  I’m trying to offer up a few different packages so my books stay affordable and I can stay a fulltime writer!  Ha!  Among other packages I’m considering:

- Autographed paperback subscription – 10 paperbacks

- Lifetime ebook subscription

- Different denominations of ebook subscriptions (like 25 for $40 or similar!)

But, I’ll start with the 10 and see how it goes.

Book Feature: “Heteroflexibility” by Mary Beth Daniels

Please welcome to Lizzyland, author Mary Beth Daniels. She’s here to share her romantic comedy, “Heteroflexibility”. As a special gift, she’s made her book free on Kindle for April 18th-19th.

Heteroflexibility: A Romantic Comedy

romantic comedyWise-cracking wedding photographer Zest Renald has just been served divorce papers when she agrees to accompany a lesbian softball team during their elopement to California on the eve of the 2008 presidential election. She’s never heard of Prop 8, and her only exposure to lesbian culture is an addiction to the talk show Ellen. But with her assets frozen and her husband claiming their house for the Other Woman’s Love Child, she needs the job.

Zest’s gaffes and notoriously bad gaydar endear her to the brides, as well as Bradford, the beautiful male stylist who travels with them. Just when Zest is figuring out how to manage her attraction to the unattainable “safe” man, they arrive in California amidst the worst anti-gay protests San Diego has ever seen.

When the minister the women hired turns out to be a Prop 8 zealot hell-bent on preventing the wedding, Zest and the brides are chased across the city in a hilarious yet poignant attempt to foil the protestors and tie the white knot.

Veteran screenwriter Rick Natkin is newest member of Lizzy’s team

There’s a new member of the Lizzyland team: Rick Natkin, a veteran screenwriter who is collaborating with me to adapt one of my books into a script.  Which book will it be?  He’s reviewing “Katie’s Hellion” and “Damian’s Oracle” to see which would translate best to the Big Screen.

Does this mean I have a movie deal?  Nope.  Not even close.  This means I’m doing what I do best: pursuing some bats**t crazy avenue to see what happens.  It’s like a science experiment – but way more fun!

Rick wrote the original “Necessary Roughness,” “The Boys of Company C” and several other incredible movie scripts before ducking out of Hollywood for a spell to be closer to his family.  He’s talented, funny and brilliant.  A perfect fit for Lizzyland!

So … what do YOU think? Which book (Hellion or Oracle) would you like to see at the theatre? :-)

Book Feature: "Eternal Youth" by Julia Crane and Heather Adkins

Please welcome to Lizzyland two talented authors who've combined their awesomeness into one book for you, Julia Crane and Heather Adkins (writing as Nolia McCarty). Together they wrote, Eternal Youth.

young adult ebookSummary: The six years following the abrupt death of her father were the worst of Calista Bishoff's life. Frightened by her own mortality, Callie's mom threw herself into a search for the Fountain of Youth—and dragged Callie along with her.

Callie should have loved traveling, but instead she hated every minute. When one more failed search sends her mother into depression, they finally return home to California. Sixteen-year-old Callie is ready to hang with her friends and be normal for as long as she can.

But, an unplanned trip to Bermuda with her grandmother throws Callie's plans awry, and there's more in store for Callie and her mom than just a simple beach vacation. Callie's life is turned inside out as she finds herself in a very different world than the one she knows—

Where things exist that she never dreamed were real.

Julia bio:

Julia crane is the author of the Coexist: Keegan's Chronicles. She has a bachelors degree in criminal justice. Julia has believed in magical creatures since the day her grandmother first told her an Irish tale. Growing up her mother greatly encouraged reading and using your imagination. Although she's spent most of her life on the US east coast, she currently lives in Dubai with her husband and three children. She can be found (on most days) at http://juliacraneauthor.com/

Heather bio:

Heather Adkins is an independent fiction novelist and avid bibliophile with the library to prove it.

Heather started writing sixteen years ago when she really wanted to be like R.L. Stine. Several never-to-be-seen novels later, she may have changed her mind a bit and started writing whatever she felt was right. To date, she has dabbled in numerous genres including chick lit, historical romance, horror, mystery, and various forms of the paranormal. Her influences include Jennifer Crusie, Laurell K Hamilton, Kim Harrison, and Jim Butcher. She first began publishing her work in June 2011, much to the chagrin of her mother.

She has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, though all that got her in the end was a shattered pinkie finger that no longer bends. On the bright side, she types faster with nine fingers than most people do with ten. She loves to travel and would give her good pinkie and her soul for a cottage in Ireland where she could write in peace. As it is, she has to fight through a lifetime's worth of distractions just to write ten sentences. She also enjoys gardening, cooking, and reading when she has time to do so.

She is the author of paranormal mystery "The Temple" and fantasy/romance "Abigail", as well as upcoming chick lit "Constant State of Disaster". A practicing Witch, Heather lives in North Central Kentucky with a house full of animals and the love of her life–all of whom drive her crazy. She can be found daily (mostly) at http://heather.bishoffs.com

Book Feature: "The Lakeland Knight Series" by Laura Lond

Please welcome to Lizzyland, author Laura Lond! She has a wonderful fantasy series and the first book is currently free so be sure to get your copy as it's only free for a limited time.

fantasy ebookLord Arkus of Blackriver Castle readily admits that he is a villain and sees no reason why it should stop him from being the protagonist of this book. After all, Prince Kellemar, an aspiring hero, has defeated him in a rather questionable way. Bent on revenge, Arkus attempts to capture a powerful evil spirit who would make him nearly invincible, but a last-minute mistake leaves him with a Sparkling instead—"a goody-goody spirit that helps heroes, watches over little children, and messes up villains' plans." Bound to Lord Arkus for five years of service and sworn to act in his best interests, the Sparkling is not easy to get rid of, and of course his understanding of "best interests" is quite different from what Lord Arkus has in mind.

My Sparkling Misfortune is approximately 33,000 words (126 pages in the printed edition). Includes 10 black-and-white illustrations. It is also available as an audiobook.

Available at:

Amazon

Barnes & Noble

How far would a villain go to help a friend? Lord Arkus of Blackriver Castle thinks doing fantasy ebookthree heroic deeds is a bit too far. Not only it's plain detestable, it can ruin his reputation and get him in trouble with the Villains League. On the other hand, it's not like he's got friends to spare. And losing the League's membership isn't the end of the world, one can always work independently.

Book Feature: Prophecy of the Flame by Lynn Hardy

This book won't be for everyone, but the cause is very, very noble! Lynn is raising money for the homeless via a Kickstarter project – and giving away a Kindle!

In a blinding flash of light, five nondescript strangers are yanked from this world and thrust into a land of sorcery. Transformed into the characters they were pretending to be; Archmage Reba, Jamison the healer, Jerik the dwarf, Charles the prince charming, and Allinon the druid elf blend twentieth century technology with the supernatural powers of this new world.

This band of wannabe heroes soon discovers that having the powers you have always dreamed of, does not make life a dream come true. The Crusaders of the Light struggle to form a cohesive band as they fight to liberate the kingdom of Cuthburan from the evil horde threatening humanity.

Battle is also waged within Reba, an ordinary housewife who has become the most powerful mage on the planet, as she struggles to remain true to her wedding vows. Drawn against her will to the arms of Prince Alexandros, Reba must choose between the prophesied marriage to a handsome prince in a magical world or returning to the husband she left behind.
