Book Feature: “Time Keepers: A Revolutionary Tale” by J.Y. Harris
Please welcome author J.Y. Harris to Lizzyland. She’s sharing her young adult/middle grade novel, “Time Keepers: A Revolutionary Tale.”
History is supposed to be dull… except when you’re thrown into it like some crazy reality show.
Kristen Everheart wasn’t looking forward to this Saturday assignment. Instead of sleeping in and hanging out with her friends, she’s taking part in a Revolutionary War battle re-enactment—with her geeky brother Brad, no less. Only the enticement of seeing one of Brad’s cute friends could get her out of bed so early. However, at the re-enactment site, Brad and Kristen soon discover something isn’t right. Strange fog, disappearing landmarks, deep silence… yep, something is definitely off. When they meet a girl in authentic colonial garb walking through the woods, Brad and Kristen soon realize the truth: they’re back in 1777.
The siblings have no idea what’s going on; all they can do is try to get through the day. The girl, Rebecca, is on her way to deliver a message of vital importance to General Washington, so Brad and Kristen accompany her. They also team up with the son of a tavern owner to help Rebecca get back to Philadelphia.
Four teens—two natives, two clueless—making their way through the wilds of eighteenth-century Pennsylvania. What could possibly go wrong? Deserters, guards, patrols, and a sharp-witted British officer, among other things.
Meanwhile, Kristen and Brad are still worried about how—or even if—they’re going to get back home.

When Tumbleweeds Attack, Upcoming Books and New Ideas

I’ve been a bit quiet lately. I’ve had pretty bad allergies the past few weeks, so I’ve been under the weather and drugged up. Although, I know now what I’m allergic to: TUMBLEWEEDS!
How can something so cool and iconic be trying to kill me? Lurking in my backyard, sending in armies of pollen warriors through windows to sneak into my bedroom at night and swell my throat closed! Ack!
Fortunately, I have exterminated them all from the backyard. First my backyard, then the world … muwahahahaha!
In any case, I just wanted to give a quick update on the status of this fall’s book lineup and ask your opinion on an area I’m puzzling over. I’ve had to push everything back, because I’ve been either offline or in maintenance phase (focusing on correspondence) and not writing since the Attack of the Tumbleweeds began.
Book Updates
Kiera’s Sun (sequel to Kiera’s Moon) - will probably be released in late Sept/early Oct.
Gabriel’s Hope (Book I, Rhyn Eternal) - uncertain about release date. May be pushed to Dec.
Autumn Storm (Book II, Witchling Trilogy) – possibly mid-Oct for beta release on Wattpad and November for official release through ebookstore channels.
I’ve got a few short stories and other projects planned as well. Katie’s Hellion has 78 reviews on Amazon.com; I promised everyone a short story about Katie and Rhyn when it reaches 100 reviews, so I’m hoping we reach that marker this fall!
Got Marketing?
Finally, I’m exploring a couple of new marketing ideas and thought I’d ask my readers for their thoughts on potential new marketing strategies. My question for you: How can I better spread the word about my books?
If you have an idea, I’d love to hear it! Feel free to post it here or drop me an email: LizzyFord2010(at)gmail(dot)com

When the environment is ravaged by rising sea levels and monstrous storms, America is divided and survival becomes more precious than love.
When seventeen-year-old Nada and Isaac stumble upon a handsome stranger in the woods, their cozy alliance and romance begin to unravel. This stranger promises Nada the impossible in exchange for helping him rescue his sister from a prison in the last corner of civilization in the western United States. But this rescue operation is wrought with complications, including the fact that the girl they are supposed to save is the ex-President’s daughter. This mission puts everyone’s life at risk, especially Isaac–the one person who has always been there for Nada. Now Nada and her small tribe must choose between a somewhat comfortable existence in the mountains and the chance at a life free of fear and starvation.
No Shelter is a post-apocalyptic love story of approximately 90 pages or 22,000 words. Contains some violence.

After a harrowing rescue and escape, Nada sets off to rescue Isaac from the prison where she was forced to abandon him. During this long journey,Nada’s feelings for Daedric intensify… until they discover Isaac roaming the mountains north of the Salton Sea-and he’s not alone. Isaac is accompanied by a mysterious and beautiful girl, a fellow prisoner who was also set free by the Guardians. Nada is conflicted about how she will fit into their tribe, and how she factors into Isaac’s past. Meanwhile, Isaac must decide whether to ditch everyone for their own good or stay true to his promise to Nada to “never give up.”

Buried Alive (#3) A Post-Apocalyptic Love Story (No Shelter Trilogy)
After their haven in the woods is compromised, Nada and her tribe must decide whether they want to hike all the way from California to Washington D.C. in the dead of winter with the Guardians on their tail. Nada isn’t certain she wants to spend the rest of her life living in an underground shelter with Isaac, even if it means living comfortably and free of fear. Nada thinks this is the most difficult decision she has ever had to make until an even more difficult decision presents itself. Will love or shelter conquer all?
