Book Feature Daisuki By Hildred Billings

Happy Monday!

Today in Lizzyland we welcome author Hildred Billings with her book titled Daisuki!

Synopsis:

Aiko and Reina have been together for almost 20 years, yet one thing remains unsaid between them: “Daisuki,” or, “I love you.” As they approach their anniversary, their relationship comes to an impasse as Aiko the Japanese housewife begins demanding “I love you” with a side of marriage and romance.

But Reina doesn’t understand complex concepts like “love” or other heavy emotions. She’s spent years supporting her girlfriend via a soul-sucking salary job and tending to their mutual needs in the bedroom. Isn’t that sufficient? In a culture demanding Reina choose between the “feminine” and the “masculine” worlds, it’s bad enough she’s trying to find her role without Aiko adding extra pressure.

Author Bio:

Hildred Billings is a Japanese and Religious Studies scholar who has spent her entire life knowing she would write for a living someday. She has lived in Japan a total of three times in three different locations, from the heights of the Japanese alps to the hectic Tokyo suburbs, with a life in Shikoku somewhere in there too. When she’s not writing, however, she spends most of her time talking about Asian pop music, cats, and bad 80′s fantasy movies with anyone who will listen…or not.

Her writing centers around themes of redemption, sexuality, and death, sometimes all at once. Although she enjoys writing in the genre of fantasy the most, she strives to show as much reality as possible through her characters and situations, since she’s a furious realist herself.

Hildred’s book can be found on Amazon, Amazon UK,  Barnes and Noble, Smashwords and All Romance.

Guest post by Stant Litore: So, zombie apocalypse. You’re ready?

Today, I’d like to welcome Stant Litore, author of the brilliant The Zombie Bible series! Stant was kind enough to write up a blog post about a subject near-and-dear to everyone’s hearts: the zombie apocalypse – and just how real it is! Stant dropped by as part of his tour for the promotion of the latest chapter in “The Zombie Bible” series: Strangers in the Land, available from Amazon, Amazon UK, iTunes (Audiobook), and BN.

Welcome, Stant!

So, zombie apocalypse. You’re Ready?

I keep a Templar sword by the bed. Just in case. Actually scared to death of the hungry dead. On one of our first dates, my future wife and I rented Dawn of the Dead and about five minutes in, I quietly got to my feet, tiptoed out, and retrieved my wood-ax from the shed. Set it right against the armchair. Felt much better through the whole movie after that. The fact that Jessica was more amused than alarmed by this likely is one reason she and I now wear wedding rings.

Actually though, you have to understand that it’s not just one big outbreak we have to watch for. Zombies have been here all along, devouring our history from the inside. In every generation, there has been a plague somewhere. That’s what The Zombie Bible is about – how generations of our ancestors wrestled with the restless dead. How they fought for survival and for sanity in the centuries before electricity or guns or the CDC. Moviemakers like to freak me out with warnings of an imminent global collapse and a world rendered wasteland inhabited by the dead gnawing on the last bones. But in fact tomorrow or the day after may only be the latest chapter in a long and grisly story.

I’ve been collecting these tales for awhile. I have a place up in Colorado where there are a few trees and you can see the dead coming from a long way off. I write each evening to scholars and archaeologists who can piece together bits of our half-eaten and half-forgotten memory. If you stop by or take a look in one of my books, I’ll tell you a few tales. How the prophet Jeremiah was left in a dry well three days with the dead tossed in after him. How Polycarp the martyr used to bring rest to dozens of the dead with a touch of his hand and his soul-searching eyes. How in the twelfth century BC, Devora, an aging prophetess, led a tribal people against great herds of dead, her blade uplifted above her like a slice of moon against the night sky.

There are tales that will fascinate you and there are tales that will break the heart. Because whether today or three thousand years ago, one’s dead are never faced without terrible cost. Our ancestors understood that better than we, and we can learn from their stories.

This is a guest post by Stant Litore, author of Strangers in the Land (47North), a new entry in The Zombie Bible.

About Stant

Born a farmer’s son in the Pacific Northwest, Stant Litore took the college road and eventually earned his PhD in English, but remains passionate for things that grow. He spent several years in a dim corner of a library, repairing bruised and battered books, before heading overseas to backpack through Europe. Haunted by the hunger and poverty he witnessed at home and abroad, he began spinning stories about the hungers that devour us and the hopes that preserve us. Today he lives in Colorado with his wife and their two daughters, writing about the restless dead and the restless living. He avoids certain parts of the mountains during the dark of the moon.

Book Feature: Fear Itself by Steven Siddall

Hello Everyone!

Please welcome to Lizzyland author Steven Sidall.

Steven is here today to share his book, Fear Itself which is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Kobo.

Synopsis:

Judiah never figured himself for a good guy, but the day he was going to hang he got a job offer from the Church.  Kill evil, and earn redemption in the eyes of God.  It might sound like an easy choice, but to have any chance to survive his encounters with evil Judiah would need to use the powers he gained by selling his soul to a demon.  And that alone terrifies him even more than any evil he could face.

His first job seems easy enough: exorcize the ghost of a serial killer which has continued the man’s murder spree even after death.  But Judiah finds there is no ghost, only a demon, and the implication that someone is controlling it.  Now a simple exorcism has turned into a cult conspiracy, one that aims to destroy any chance at peace with the Vampire Lords.

Maybe the noose would’ve been better.

Author Bio:

In the sixth grade, a teacher asked Steven Siddall to write on what he did over the summer.  Given little direction, and realizing that handing in a single sentence description of playing video games all summer would earn a bad grade, he instead wrote a short fictional story detailing what his character did in those video games.  Ever since then, he’s written numerous things that are probably buried somewhere in the Mojave Desert to avoid the humiliation and shame that would come if someone ever read them.  Eventually, however, he wrote something worth letting others see, and thinks continuing that trend might be a good thing.  Fear Itself is his first novel, but he has plans to make it into a series, including supplemental short stories.  He also has plans for a much more ambitious second series for sometime in the future.

Author Bio:

I am Horror Author R. Nightshade, and horror is my cup of tea. First, I’d like it to be known that I believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Having said that….

I also believe that The Unseen exist in a realm that intersects our Earthly world. Once in a while we may get a ghostly glimpse, hear a noise, or see an Earthly object move without explanation. Ghost hunting and paranormal investigations are of particular interest to me. With the advent of television shows and public access to ghost investigations, I believe the evidence found by paranormal investigators cannot be ignored.

On the fictional side of life, I have always enjoyed horror movies and stories and over the years I’ve developed an unquenchable thirst for ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and all the supernatural beasts of the night. I’ll admit, things that go bump in the night can scare me, but that’s the best part!

I plan to unleash several horror stories in the coming months and I’m very excited about each book. My first release is Hell Town and will be available on October 3rd, just in time to prepare for the best day of the year: Halloween!
