3:AM Kisses by Addison Moore Spotlight and Review

pizap.com14168068407982

18171526 (1) 3:AM Kisses

From the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Addison Moore

New Adult *Intended for mature audiences.

Baya Brighton is looking forward to her first year at Whitney Briggs University, new friends, dorm life, and finally being close to her brother again. Love is the last thing on the list, but when Baya meets her brother’s roommate she begins to have thoughts and feelings that make even her blush.

Bryson Edwards has a secret he prefers buried in the past and long forgotten. He prefers loose girls, fast cars, and long nights working at the string of bars his family owns. When his roommate’s sister shows up on the scene, she’s far too innocent and sweet for him but he can’t shake Baya out of his mind and worse, it looks like she’s seeping into his heart as well.

Baya seems determined to show her brother she’s not a little kid and equally determined to use Bryson’s body to prove her point. It’s been made pretty clear that Baya is off limits to Bryson but their undeniable sparks explode into a whole lot more than just a few 3:AM KISSES.

Bryson reminds me of stud of a hubby when I met him! Minus the notches of course! I’m sure Baya will love him as much in 22 years as I still love the hubby today! Addison did such a great job with this one that I could actually feel the angst! I really adored Baya, the way she talks reminds of my daughter. Sassy with the mouth and wanting to live her life to the fullest! She’s so real and down to earth that many young women out there will relate to her on a very basic level. And the guys out there need to buck up and take a page out of Bryson’ how to treat a girl book!!!

I loved this story. Yes it is very similar to some of the other books in the same genre, but you know that when you buy it from the description. The relationships between all of the characters are clear and it really sets the scene for the other books in the series. The relationship between Baya and Bryson grows steadily throughout the book and their emotions are well portrayed, it felt real, not forced. Every emotion from love to heartbreak to sarcasm, embarrassment and happiness is covered in this story and makes the reader feel very connected to each of the characters. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes others in this genre and to anyone looking for a nice easy read.

The story of finding that one person who makes you want to be better and grow up is wonderful. How sweet and lovely Baya is the one for Bryson the college ladies man is classic but still captivating. The truth of his past and how it could possibly destroy their present romance leaves you makes guesses of what it could be. I completely enjoyed how the story unfolded and the determination of which their love for each other makes them fight to be together despite obstacles and criticism. I look forward to the reading the next installments.

Baya is new to college, and what an introduction, flashing her brother’s gorgeous flatmate and meeting her room-mate (well parts of her) in the first few minutes. Not what she was expecting! And then she finds out the brother that has overbearingly protected her virginity is a giant man-whore.

Intent to show her brother that she isn’t a little girl anymore, she sets her sight on his gorgeous flatmate Bryson. While Bryson is definitely interested, he is also struggling with his own history and Baya’s overprotective brother.

There are a lot of funny moments throughout the story, along with some mean sorority girls to keep it interesting. Baya is sweet and a little too trusting and I loved that she named her room-mates breasts.

My Mechanical Angel by Harmony Lawson Spotlight and Review

pizap.com14168068407982

22035343 (1) Her Mechanical Angel

The small Wild West farming community of Whitcomb was afraid of Seraphton, the shining metropolis that lies along the horizon. Reverend Archibald preached that the city was forbidden, an abomination to the world, and evil demons lurk inside despite the celestial name. Emmaline had a feeling there was more to Seraphton than the Reverend let on. Emmaline Fortenbury had always felt out of place in Whitcomb and wondered if Seraphton was really like he said. He preached like he held a grudge. What were the secrets of Seraphton and how did it connect with Reverend Archibald?

Then a stranger comes to town and the meeting changes her life. Aleksander Galloway was feared by the townspeople, but she found him fascinating. She wanted more out of life for herself. She wanted the chance to explore the world, and he seemed to be the man to help her. He had silver metal wings and a mechanical eye. He was handsome in a way that wasn’t like the townspeople of Whitcomb. He was sophisticated, educated, and very interesting. How can their love grow when their two towns collide? Can their love bring everyone together for peace?

Harmony has a great way with words and I think this book will have great appeal to younger adults. Emma, the main character is an easy to like young girl that you will find yourself connecting with right from the start. We see in her things that we all struggle with at times, the ability to fit in with those around us, the questioning of the things that we are told by the adults around us and the desire to explore what else is out there. Emma’s journey is an inspiration and I found myself standing on the sidelines applauding as she finds not only herself, but her independence and of course love. When you add in the Angelic twist you get a very powerful story that leaves you with a warm and happy feeling.

I am looking forward to reading more stories from Harmony!

I was privileged to receive a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Set in a world that reminded me of M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘The Village’, Emmaline has always felt like an outsider, while fascinated with the shining metropolis that lies along the horizon. When she finds a stranger with silver metal wings and a mechanical eye in her barn, Emmaline’s life is changed forever, providing her the chance to explore the world.

I loved the premise of this book and there were some great twists and turns which I thought could have been built upon earlier in the story. The last half of the book is definitely where all the action is. The style was more narrative and made me feel like I was watching the story. Definitely worth a read if you enjoy steampunk, angels or anything with creepy villagers.

A great book from this promising new author. I am looking forward to reading her future books.

Falling Down (Rockstar series #1) By Anne Mercier Spotlight and Review

pizap.com14168068407982

22918893 Falling Down

Warning: If you’re looking for tons of drama or a dark romance, you won’t find it here. This is a light and fun rocker romance where the struggles are minor and the love and laughs are abundant. The sex is frequent and graphic, the language explicit, and the profanity profuse.

Jesse Kingston, the lead singer of Falling Down, is a tall, dark, and gorgeous temptation I don’t want to resist.

I’m going to ignore all the warning signs and do what I normally wouldn’t–I’m going to give in to my desire. I’m going to indulge my fantasies and give this sexy rocker what he wants and something he won’t soon forget–me.

Is one time going to be enough? Will one weekend together end up changing this bad boy? Or will it end up changing me?

***This is a stand-alone novel with a HEA and no cliffhanger***

Omg this books was so amazing on so many levels. Anne is a new author to me and now I am a total fangirl can’t wait to read the next book in the series and any other books she has out. Anne came highly recommended to me by my favorite author Jessica Gibson. I had been in a total book funk and every book I picked up was just blah. Thank you so much to Jessica for recommending this series and a new stalker fan of Anne. I highly recommend this book the story captivates you from page one to the very end but leaves you with wanting more and more. The characters were really well written and they came to life in a three dimensional aspect. You just wanted to this to have a hea because the characters were so amazing. What started as a school girl crush developed into so much more and in the end even the bad boy was hooked he was such a breath of fresh air. This is not your typical girl meets dream idol rockstar it is so much more. Both of the main characters do so much growing together and they salidify their relationship in so many ways.

10371984_895903160433873_3507656827644881493_n About the Author

First and foremost I am an avid reader of romance. I read every single day. Without reading I wouldn’t be inspired to write. The same can be said about music. I started reading with Nora Roberts and Sandra Brown’s LoveSwept titles forever ago and went from reading solely traditionally published to reading nearly all indie authors. I still read my Nora and a few others. A must.

I started seriously writing about six years ago when the need to get the stories that are stuck in my head on paper became overwhelming.

I hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I enjoy writing them.

I’m a huge fan of music, chocolate, fruit, Fall, Matt Shadows, Avenged Sevenfold, and Milo Ventimiglia.

Revealing Kia (The Lost Girl #2) by Airicka Phoenix Spotlight and Review

pizap.com14168068407982

18461891 Revealing Kia (The Lost Girl #2)

The events of Claudia’s party were nothing more than a distant memory as far as Kia was concerned. She was ready to resume her life as though that night had never happened. But it’s a slippery slope keeping a secret and Kia’s about to learn just how hard when she’s faced with the truth and the consequences of her decision.

Adam Chaves was no stranger to girls wanting him. He was no stranger to breaking hearts, although never intentionally. What he didn’t understand was how Kia could undress him, touch him, burn him with her eyes and still keep him at arm’s length when it was evident how much it cost her. But what Kia didn’t realize was that he had never given up on anything in his life and he wasn’t about to start now. He would have his girl even if it meant he had to kidnap her to do it.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Following on the story of Kia and Adam, we get to see the struggles that these two go through to try and be together. Kia’s confidence has improved in this book and she is really coming into her own skin which is lovely. On a serious note, we start to see more of Nessie and the serious issues that she is dealing with.

Such a great group of characters and during the course of the series they have all grown and helped each other. I loved this book and read it in one sitting as I needed to know how it all worked out.

Finding Kia (The Lost Girl #1) by Airicka Phoenix Spotlight and Review

pizap.com14168068407982

18206288 Finding Kia (The Lost Girl #1)

“Maybe you should avoid me tonight.”

His arm slipped around my waist and I was drawn into his chest. “If I only have this one night with you, the last thing I’m going to do is stay away.”

Kia Valentines had always accepted the fact that she was a nerd, a nobody. It was a badge she wore with honor, until the day she saved Claudia DeLorenzo’s life and lost herself.

When offered the chance to shed her identity for a single night, Kia never believed it would change her life. It was one night. It meant nothing, or it shouldn’t have. But that single night turned out to be her undoing when she finds passion in the arms of the one person she can never have.

Adam Chaves was more than just a gorgeous face, he made her laugh, but more importantly, when he looked at her, she felt like the most beautiful girl on earth. But Adam has no idea that Kia was the girl behind the mask and Kia has no intention of telling him. But a secret could only be kept if no one else knows about it. Claudia knows and she wants something Kia isn’t willing to give in order to keep it.

Will Kia succumb? And just how far is Claudia willing to go to get what she wants?

Kia is a sweet nerd who is happy with her life. That is until she saves the queen of the school and gets invited to her masquerade party. There she meets her best friend’s brother who she is secretly crushing on, and he falls for her.

Adam is lush, and the story gets sweeter as Kia starts to see how beautiful she really is. But how can she betray her only friend for a boy!

I loved this book and couldn’t put it down.

All I Need (Stay #2) by Emily Goodwin Spotlight and Review

pizap.com14168068407982

23263637 (1) All I Need (Stay #2)

“My life was hell, nothing but pain and darkness.

Every night I hoped I’d lay down to sleep and never wake up. I saw no reason to keep going. There was nothing for me, no promise of a better life. Every morning I woke up hoping this would be my last day.

Then I met her, and everything changed.”

Sold into slavery at a young age, Jackson Porter has known nothing but darkness until he is forced to kidnap a young woman with a fiery spirit who refuses to give up. Could she be all Jackson needs to awaken his dead soul?

You met Jackson in Stay, now it’s time to hear his story.

Warning, this book is dark, graphic, and twisted at times.

Review by Lisa Markson

5 stars

After reading Stay by Emily Goodwin I just had to read this one. This book truly, truly hurt my heart. In Stay after awhile you realized that Jackson wasn’t the bad guy he was just the same as the girls only more damaged. Reading about his life was just so traumatic and heartbreaking that one individual had to endure. You come to love him through the trials and tribulations that he endured at the hands of Zane, and Nate. They truly were evil incarnate. No one should have to deal with the issue of human trafficking. This book was really well written and the characters were eerie to the point of being 3 dimensional. I highly recommend this book if you are wanting something well written and something that is prevalent in our world today. Things like this happen and not just in third world countries and it needs to be stopped no one should be made to provide sex and themselves to another person by force. I received a copy in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.

Oh man was this book unbelievable. I initially bought this book when it was released mainly because I love all books by Emily Goodwin. Although I was really afraid to read it knowing what the subject matter of the book was about and the fact that it was a dark romance. Human trafficking is such a controversial topic that is prevalent in our world today. I was afraid of the romance part because too many books make the evil guy the one that the main character falls in love with. I loved the fact that the damaged guy received hope from Addy. I initially started the book and didn’t think I would be able to finish reading it cause it was so dark. I hated reading about the abuse that Addy went through but I was so glad that I finished it. I actually really really liked it. The characters were really well developed and you could tell that the author had done some major research when she wrote this book because so many of the thoughts and actions of the captive were so vivid it would give me the chills. There never was a slow moment in this book it was non stop thrill from page one to the last page. This book doesn’t glorify rape, and human trafficking it shows the strength that one endured in the most terrifying part of their entire life. I highly recommend this to any reader that wants something that will make them think and enjoy the life that they live because in a blink of a eye it could all be gone.

stay Stay

“I felt like I was walking to the end of a plank precariously hanging over shark-infested water. When I jumped, sharp teeth would rip into me and the cold water would steal my breath away. The monsters would take everything from me, leaving me shivering and naked in the water. The only difference was that tonight I would be pulled from the icy darkness and forced to do it again. There would be no release from death, only pain.”

Home after her first year of college, Adeline Miller is looking forward to a stress free summer filled with reading, working on her blog, and spending time with friends. But all that changes in an instant when she is witness to something terrible, something she wasn’t supposed to see.

Beaten, drugged, kidnapped.

Adeline Miller is ripped from her innocent and carefree life and thrust into darkness, into a world full of pain and horror. As a sex slave, she is forced to do horrible things, and have horrible things done to her. One of her captors has a past as dark as the world she is now living in. Will getting close to him mean freedom? Or will he pull her deeper into the shadows?

The Concilium Vampires, Book I: The Spaniard (Concilium Vampires #1) by Angela Goldsberry Spotlight and Review

pizap.com14168068407982

23588752 The Concilium Vampires, Book I: The Spaniard (Concilium Vampires #1)

All Michael Blake wanted to do was to have a normal, quiet life. Kind of hard to do, being a 500-something-year-old vampire. Still, he was giving it his best shot, turning his back on the vampire community, and trying to blend in with the mortals. Leaving the fast life of the Big Apple, he moved to Rhode Island, took up teaching art at a small university, and left himself with enough spare time to do nothing but paint.

But someone – or something – just won’t leave him alone. His past comes calling in the middle of the night, threatening to destroy the new life he’s so carefully constructed. His present is being consumed by an obsessed woman who’s giving him the supernatural hard-sell, and just won’t seem to take “no” for an answer.

And his future? His future is laid out for him in a deck of tarot cards, interpreted by a fiery-haired gypsy who haunts his dreams and burns in his blood. Can what the cards say really come to pass? Can this crimson-haired goddess be the indescribable love of his eternal life, prophesied by a fortune-telling parlor game? Can he incorporate her into his “ordinary” life while continuing to outrun the man he used to be? And will she be safe from Michael’s deranged stalker, or will her life be in IMmortal danger?

I was given this Advanced copy from the Author for an Un-Bias opinion.

This is my first Angela Goldsberry book.

I loved the story plot and her characters where amazing, you just have to love a brooding vampire who just wants to be normal, but alass things always get in the way,, well written great story line, sexyness, and the search for true love all wrapped up in this wonderful book that makes it hard to put down.

Hoping that Michael gets his HEA, and waiting in anticipation to see what unravels next!!

Angela Goldsberry (b. 1965) was born in Peru, Indiana, but grew up in Philadelphia. She began writing poetry after a writing assignment for school sparked a hidden talent and caused it to combust, resulting in four fiery volumes over a number of years. In addition to poetry, she began to include tender romance stories to her repertoire, and it was there that she found her true literary love. However, her dreams of writing were put on hold while she established a career in medical editing and brought up two lively and wonderfully unique children. Thirty years later, a dream that her grandmother wanted her to finish a novel that was conceived decades ago, Angela took up the pen again. Now, she is working steadily on her novel, a smoldering, sexy paranormal romance, the first in a series of eight. She also continues to write short stories for erotic romance anthologies whenever new ideas rear their naughty little heads. Almost by Anne Eliot Spotlight and Review

pizap.com14168068407982

almost Almost

At a freshman party she doesn’t remember, Jess Jordan was almost raped.

…Almost. Very nearly. Not quite. Three years later, Jess has managed to make everyone believe she’s better. Over it. Because she is.

…Almost. Very nearly. Not quite.

Unfortunately, until Jess proves she’s back to normal activities, her parents won’t discuss college. So, she lands a summer internship and strikes a deal with hockey jock, Gray Porter: He gets $8,000. She gets a fake boyfriend and a social life.

Jess has no idea Gray signed on for reasons other than money. She also never expects to fall in love. But Gray’s amazingly hot, holds her hand all the time, and makes her forget that he’s simply doing his job. It’s like having a real boyfriend.

…Almost. Very nearly. Not quite.

Gray Porter is hiding secrets of his own. About Jess Jordan. About why he’s driven to protect her, why he won’t cash her checks, or deny her anything she asks.

Review by Cherrie Directo

A really light, refreshing, ‘feel good’ love story. Jess and Gray’s characters are very magnetic that they really jive together. Their conversations were not forced and very funny. The winking and the raising of the eyebrows were really cute for teenagers. This is very different from the other books I read which tackles the topic of rape or near rape experience. Those were very difficult and heavy to read but not this book! I’m glad the author brought out a message without being so tragic and horrific. I’m glad to have read this book and I guess I would be following this author. After reading, who wouldn’t believe in true love? :)

anne About the Author

Anne Eliot writes sweet, first-love stories. She was raised in the mountains of Colorado, but says she really learned about life, love and friendships from summers spent with her large, Italian immigrant family in Ontario, Canada.

Anne is grateful to have had schools with inspiring teachers and librarians who directed her to worlds she would not have found on her own. To this day, she adores school visits, teaching writing to teens, and is dedicated to making sure kids in need have access to books that will fuel their hopes and dreams.

While growing up, Anne hid her own anxieties by hiding and reading book after book. She developed an addiction to first love, first kisses and her favorite: the happy-ever-after story. This is what she writes today. Now she’s a mom of two and happily married to her own first love. Anne works hard to juggle being a wife and parent while writing, but fails at cooking because she is still trying to read book, after book of love stories on the side.

Anne Eliot’s first book, Almost, became a top 100 best selling Kindle book, and was a Readers Choice, Top 12 of 2012 book for Amazon.com at #11, and will be translated and released in Germany and Turkey fall 2013. Her second book, Unmaking Hunter Kennedy, is a also a Kindle, top 100 best selling book in Teen Romance for 2013. She’s hard at work on her third novel, another sweet teen romance releasing fall/winter, 2013. She loves to hear from readers. Please look for her on Facebook or tweet her @yaromance.

The Story of Awkward by R.K. Ryals Spotlight and Review

pizap.com14168068407982

21897163 The Story of Awkward

If you are looking for a happy book about beautiful people, this is the wrong story.

If you are looking for a narrative without emotion, without regrets, and without mistakes, this is definitely the wrong story.

This is by no means an uncomplicated tale about uncomplicated people. It is by no means sweet or light.

This story is ugly.

This story is complicated.

This story is emotional.

This story is tragic.

In short, this story is about being awkward.

Peregrine Storke is an artist with an odd sketchbook full of pictures she’s drawn since she was a child. It is a book full of strange sketches and awkward characters, for there is no better way to hide from bullying and life than to create a world of your own. With a stroke of her pencil, she has given life to a spectacled princess, a freckle-nosed king, a candy loving troll, a two-horned unicorn, and a graceless fairy.

At nineteen, Peregrine leaves her home, her sketchbook, and awkwardness behind. But what happens when something goes wrong in the world of Awkward? Trapped inside of her complex realm with the bully she thought to leave behind, Peregrine discovers there is nothing worse than falling for your own villain.

The Story of Awkward was a unique type book that is written with a strong impact on your emotions. When I started the book, I was a little confused in regards to what was happening. But the more I read, the more I enjoyed the book. It is different from the normal type book that I read, but it was really and awesomely awkward good read!!!

This book was beyond FABULOUS. When I started reading the book I really wasn’t sure what I was in for. I fell into a deep connection with the main character Perri. I was always the fat and ugly girl in all of my school years. I grew up listening to a parent thinking making fun of a child would force them to change. Unfortunately it only increased the self loathing and emotional turmoil a child goes through. Kids are mean but not as mean as the supposedly adult figure. You grow up as the ugly duckling in a family filled with swans you give up close yourself off to the world. Perri drew I withdrew into books on top of books. R.K. Ryals was able to tell such a emotionally drawn story that could help a young adult realize that yes we have flaws but they are what makes us who we are they don’t have to define us. We make our paths in life and we are the directors of our past, present, and future. Bravo for telling such a great story that teaches us ACCEPTANCE for #EMBRACINGOURAWKWARD. I personally will be giving this to my teenage niece to help her dispute the bullies and find her inner beauty and realize her flaws makes her special . Thank you R.k. Ryals anyone from teen to adult could read this and find truth and beauty in life
