My Guest Column in the Dade County Sentinel: Beyond the Timeline
I'm incredibly honored to share that I recently had a guest column published in the Dade County Sentinel, titled "Beyond the Timeline: Why Healing From Grief Isn’t a Linear Path." You can read the full article here: https://www.dadecountysentinel.com/20....
This piece, straight from my heart, explores a truth that is deeply personal to me and central to my book, "In Case I Die: A Southern Perspective of Death & Living Every Day Like It's Your Last."
In my guest column, I discuss how grief rarely follows a neat, predictable timeline. We often expect it to progress in orderly stages, but the reality is that healing from loss comes in waves—sometimes gentle, sometimes overwhelming—and can reappear unexpectedly, even long after the initial event. My own journey has shown me that true healing isn't about forgetting or "getting over" loss, but rather about learning to live with it, integrating it into who we become, and finding new ways to connect with those we’ve lost. It's about granting ourselves compassion on this unique and often winding path.
If you're navigating your own unique grief journey, I hope my column offers a sense of validation and that my book can provide further companionship and insight.
