Is Clooney Next to Fall? Actress Accuses Megastar of Blacklisting Her over Harassment Claims

Hollywoods troubles are not only continuing; it looks like they may be just beginning.

By the day, increasing numbers of movie A-listers are finding themselves caught up in the mushrooming sexual harassment scandal that now engulfs Tinseltownand some are, without question, the biggest names in all of show business.

2017-10-16_16-31-27

This would include liberal do-gooder George Clooney, of all people, who is now on the receiving end of accusations being leveled by an actress from his days on the popular NBC TV drama ER.

Using Twitter to get her message out, actress Vanessa Marquez, who appeared on the show for four seasons as nurse Wendy Goldman, recently accused a variety of people and entities as being complicit in her blacklisting after she complained about sexual and racial harassment on the show.

Marquez began her digital tirade by tweeting, Clooney helped blacklist me when I spoke up [about] harassment on ER. Women who dont play the game lose career I did.

In another post, Marquez tweeted, Hes not who he pretends [to be]. Wells, NBC, Amblin, WB, cast & crew & my agents all complicit in my #Blacklist [for] speaking UP in 95

Marquez went on, accusing actor Eriq La Salle, as well as Terence Nightingall, a member of the crew, of being pussy grabbers, and even charged that cast members Anthony Edwards, Noah Wyle, and Julianna Margulies subjected her to racial harassment.

For his part, Clooney has vigorously denied Marquezs accusations, saying in a statement, I had no idea Vanessa was blacklisted. I take her at her word.

I was not a writer or a producer or a director on that show. I had nothing to do with casting. I was an actor and only an actor. If she was told I was involved in any decision about her career then she was lied to. The fact that I couldnt affect her career is only surpassed by the fact that I wouldnt.

Athlete Kneeling Goes International German Soccer Team Drops Down Before Game

Apparently, the protest kneeling of athletes in the U.S., most prominently on display by members of American teams, is catching on in other parts of the world.

2017-10-16_16-23-31

On Saturday morning, the players and coaches on the Hertha Berlin soccer team kneeled prior to the start of the Bundesliga game against Schalke, in a show of solidarity with their American sports counterparts.

The protest was clearly an official position of the team itself, as evidenced by the words of the Hertha stadium announcer, who announced to the fans, Hertha BSC stands for diversity and against violence. For this reason, we are joining forces with the protest of our fellow American athletes to take a stand against discrimination. For a tolerant Berlin, both now and forevermore.

Whats more, a tweet from Herthas official Twitter account crowed about the teams protest:

Hertha BSC stands for tolerance and responsibility! For a tolerant Berlin and an open-minded world, now and forevermore! #TakeAKnee #hahohe

While U.S. athletes have chosen to make their protests during the playing of the national anthem, Hertha Berlin went to their knees without the cue of any similar patriotic expression. In fact, unlike in the U.S., the German national anthem is not a standard feature of athletic contests there, and the anthem was not played before the start of Saturdays contest.

Seasonal Job Openings - Who's Hiring

Every year ChristianMoney.com does an article on seasonal job openings. We have found that many of our readers have a great deal of interest in seasonal positions. First, everyone needs extra money around the holidays. Secondly, those that work in retail enjoy employee discounts at just the perfect time for the gift giving season. Lastly, many of these seasonal jobs can become regular ongoing part time or even full time jobs. We have also expanded our coverage to include work from home seasonal jobs.

Target

Our local Target has the above flyers displayed at each checkout lane and even a special table set up near the entrance to recruit seasonal workers. The store here in Palm Coast Florida is hiring 60 seasonal employees at $11 per hour. While no regular benefits would apply, and these are only part time jobs, seasonal workers enjoy a 10 percent discount on store purchases.

Check The National Job Boards

The big national job boards also have listings for seasonal work (both on site and at home).  I would include in your search Indeed.com, Monster.com, and CareerBuilder.com

Beware Of Scams

There is absolutely no good reason to pay for a list of available jobs or pay a service to locate a seasonal job for you.  The jobs are there and you don't need a middle man to land one.  If you work through a legitimate employment agency, their fee will be paid by the company hiring you.

Conclusion

Don't limit your job search to the above list or even just to big name companies. There are so many locally owned businesses that need extra help during the holidays. Of course, restaurants and retail are pretty obvious. There are less obvious opportunities, such as working in an office. Financial planners and insurance agents get very busy as the end of the year approaches. Not only are there holiday greeting cards to be addressed and holiday events, many times end of year tax statements must go out, and outbound holiday greeting calls are on the agenda. The point here is that you should not limit your list to only the big national names. Even a simple post on your Facebook page letting your friends know that you are interested in seasonal work can yield several offers.

Helping you make the most of Gods money!

Report: Terms of Weinsteins Employment Contract Allowed for Sexual Harassment

And it gets weirder still.

2017-10-13_14-39-36

According to a report by the celebrity news website TMZ, Harvey Weinstein, in his capacity as co-chairman of The Weinstein Company (TWC), was essentially permitted, by virtue of his employment contract, to engage in the sexual harassment behavior for which he has now become so well-known.

Although the employment agreement would certainly not protect Weinstein from any potential civil or criminal action initiated by an alleged victim or prosecuting authority, it seems to do a pretty good job of insulating him from job loss resulting from the very behavior that did see him get fired earlier in the week.

Which begs the awkward question: Does Harvey Weinstein actually have legitimate grounds to pursue a wrongful termination suit against TWC?

It sure looks that way.

Per TMZs analysis of the contract in question, should Weinstein be sued for sexual harassment, and that suit results in a judgment against TWC, he can keep his position as long as he personally pays whatever amount for which the company is on the hook, as well as an internally-assessed fine.

From TMZ:

According to the contract, if Weinstein treated someone improperly in violation of the companys Code of Conduct, he must reimburse TWC for settlements or judgments. Additionally, You [Weinstein] will pay the company liquidated damages of $250,000 for the first such instance, $500,000 for the second such instance, $750,000 for the third such instance, and $1,000,000 for each additional instance.

The contract says as long as Weinstein pays, it constitutes a cure for the misconduct and no further action can be taken.

Incredible.

NFL Commissioner Issues Memo to Team Owners Saying Anthem Mess Needs to Be Cleaned Up

How quickly things change.

While the NFL was instinctively supportive (though not enthusiastically so) of national anthem protest among the player ranks, the outcry at, resistance to, and even anger toward kneeling players on the part of fans has prompted those presiding over the game to think twice about their embrace of a social justice narrative.

2017-10-13_14-34-15

In addition to expressing vocal, and virulent, objections to the protests, fans are avoiding watching games altogether, leaving stadium seats empty and TV viewership on the decline.

Well, if NFL leadership didnt get the message before, it seems clear they have it now.

According to NBC Sports, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo on Tuesday to all teams, letting them know that the matter of the national anthem, and player protests of same, will be a central issue at league meetings next week. The memo says, in part, that the current dispute over the National Anthem is threatening to erode the unifying power of our game, and is now dividing us, and our players, from many fans across the country.

Translation: Were getting ready to lose a BUNCH of money.

A little later, Goodell admits that players and the league, really have been on the wrong side of the issue up to this point:

Like many of our fans, we believe that everyone should stand for the National Anthem. It is an important moment in our game. We want to honor our flag and our country, and our fans expect that of us. We also care deeply about our players and respect their opinions and concerns about critical social issues. The controversy over the Anthem is a barrier to having honest conversations and making real progress on the underlying issues. We need to move past this controversy, and we want to do that together with our players.

America.

Stunning CNN Asks Where Are Obamas on Weinstein Scandal?

And, once again, the left is eating its own.

2017-10-13_2-40-55

It often happens when someone on the left does something perceived as so egregious and so much in violation of another principle seen as near and dear to progressives that the cannibalization simply cannot be avoided.

Such is the case in the matter of Harvey Weinstein, Hollywood power player who apparently used like pieces of gym equipment countless numbers of young ladies who came to Tinseltown in search of fulfilling their dreams of stardom.

As noted by The Daily Caller, one decidedly leftist news network, CNN, simply could not hold back when it came to the matter of Weinstein, a long-time supporter of many Democrat causes. Heres political correspondent Dana Bash on the Tuesday edition of CNNs Wolf:

The other question is where are the Obamas? Where is Michelle Obama? Where is President Obama? He is and probably still is a big supporter of him and his political efforts. And just lets just pretend the shoe was on the other foot and this was a Republican, somebody who is in Hollywood who is a Republican alleged to have done these things and gave to Republican presidents. Can you imagine the outrage if they werent condemning this behavior? I mean, it makes no sense at all that they are not coming out and saying something. Never mind the question of the donations.

Wow.

The Obamas subsequently issued the standard shocked, horrified, condemn statement, but its worth noting that it seemed to come only after there was very public questioning as to where their comment on Weinstein was. Also, no word as to whether the Obamas will take any steps to give back or otherwise cleanse themselves of money donated over the years to President Obamas campaign and campaign-related entities.

Heads Up, Small Business Owners This Billionaire Says Vulnerability is Key to Great Success

One of the stereotypes many have of the mega-successful business titans is that they are born to succeed; that they have all the answers, basically from the get-go, and cast a long shadow that envelops everyone around them.

2017-10-13_2-36-40

Well, theres one super-successful guy who thinks its vulnerability, of all things, that makes for a champ in business.

Howard Schultz gave up his role as CEO of Starbucks back in April 2017, but during the 30 years he was at the helm, the company grew to have over 25,000 locations throughout 75 countries.

And what does this business giant see as one of the most underrated leadership qualities?

Thats right vulnerability.

As reported by CNBC, Schultz recently said, Building a company is a lonely place sometimes because youre imprinted, especially as a man, of not demonstrating vulnerability. And I think one of the most undervalued characteristics of leadership is vulnerability and asking for help.

Clarifying what he means, Schultz added, When youre vulnerable and ask for help, people come towards you. Ive tried to do that every step of the way and be honest and truthful about what I know, what I dont and most importantly, what I believe.

Its a highly useful point. For many, getting ahead of the curve as a leader is as much about admitting what you do not know as it is actually knowing things. Obviously, the goal is to come to learn as much as possible, but that takes time, and when you request help and guidance in a sober, meaningful way, those around will come to respect you without losing their inclination to follow you. Its an important way to gain knowledge even as you are gaining influence.

VP Pence Walks Out of NFL Game After Players Kneel

As reported by several media outlets, including Fox News, Vice President Mike Pence was back home in Indiana this past weekend to watch the NFL matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers, but walked out of the game after several members of the 49ers elected to protest the national anthem in the way that has become fashionable recently.

2017-10-11_23-42-11

Pence later tweeted the following statement:

I left todays Colts game because President Trump and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem. At at time when so many Americans are inspiring our nation with their courage, resolve, and resilience, now, more than ever, we should rally around our Flag and everything that unites us. While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I dont think its too much to ask NFL players to respect the Flag and our National Anthem. I stand with President Trump, I stand with our soldiers, and I will always stand for our Flag and our National Anthem.

Predictably, Pence was roundly criticized in social media by the usual suspects. One of those, Brian Stelter of CNN, host of Reliable Sources, doubted the VPs sincerity in initially deciding to attend the game in the first place, suggesting it was done just to engage in the walk-out. Stelter, on Sunday, said, in part, There have been players on the San Francisco team kneeling every single game. Pence and his team head into the game today, they had to have known there was going to be kneeling.

His statement almost seems written ahead of time, and it seems like it was a staged moment for Pence to walk out and make a statement about this.

The fact is, it may have been a contrivance, to one degree or another. But heres what is also surely true had those 49er players stood for the anthem, Pence would not have left; or had he, in fact, departed the game early at some point, he would not have had the justification of kneeling players at his disposal.

But he did. Because they did.

Popular Soap Brand Dove Apologizes After Deploying Facebook Ad Seen As Racist

Theres tone deafand then theres tone deaf.

This, clearly, was the latter.

The iconic soap maker Dove has found itself in some rather hot water after deploying a Facebook ad that was almost universally seen as racist, particularly given todays social sensibilities.

2017-10-11_23-30-04

As reported by The Christian Post, the ad, posted Saturday, was created on behalf of a new campaign for the companys body wash, and shows a black woman using the product, removing her brown shirt, and magically transforming into a white woman.

Yikes.

The ad has long since been removed, of course. In a statement on its Facebook page, Dove said, Dove is committed to representing the beauty of diversity. In an image we posted this week, we missed the mark in thoughtfully representing women of color and we deeply regret the offense that it has caused. The feedback that has been shared is important to us and we'll use it to guide us in the future.

Dove was, of course, raked over the coals on social media for the bizarre suggestion made by the ad.

One comment made on the companys Facebook page asked, What exactly were yall going for? and went on to inquire, What was the mark ... I mean anyone with eyes can see how offensive this is. Not one person on your staff objected to this?

That remains a great point in cases such as this. When companies like Dove engage in ad campaigns, there is a great deal of discussion, a great deal of back-and-forth that takes place before the ad is actually displayed to the public. As the above, noted commenter incredulously asked, Not one person on your staff objected to this?

Apparently not.

In California, It Is Now No Longer a Felony to Intentionally Infect Another with HIV

Good ol California.

So much of what that state does now would be funny, if it wasnt so sad.

And downright dangerous; like this:

2017-10-10_15-18-00

As reported by the Los Angeles Times, and courtesy of the California legislature and Gov. Jerry Brown, it is now no longer a felony to intentionally expose a sex partner to the HIV virus. Now, its just a misdemeanor.

The new law, SB 239, which takes effect January 1, 2018, is nothing short of stunning. Not only does it apply to sexual activity, but to the act of giving blood. For example, a person who is aware they are infected with HIV and donates blood without telling the blood bank of their infected status will now face only a misdemeanor charge.

State senator Joel Anderson argued against the proposed law during the floor debate, saying, Im of the mind that if you purposefully inflict another with a disease that alters their lifestyle the rest of their life, puts them on a regimen of medications to maintain any kind of normalcy, it should be a felony.

Thats putting it nicely.

Unsurprisingly, the new law has found great favor with those who promote and defend alternative lifestyles. The executive director of LGBTQ advocacy group Equality California, Rick Zbur, praises the law as being not only fair, butgood public health, and adding that it will be good for all Californians.

Utterly jaw-dropping.
