Right, there are many readers with your same situation. I understand about the new52 for you, that’s going to be a subject of debate for a long, long time. But I am very hopeful, as I see the gaps start to be filled in a little bit. It’s hard to compete with 70 years of history!

Hmm. I appreciate the question, but unfortunately, this wanders a little closely to participating in fanfiction which I am not allowed to do under any circumstances. I’m sorry! But it sounds fun…good luck!

Comic shop employee here, and I gotta say, our sales back up what you're saying. Most of the message board and tumblr fans might prefer legacy characters, but the general public, even if they do find some of them cool, prefer things simple. The DC reboot a

I am pretty sure Marvel Now will be a big success, and the New52 has brought a ton of people into comics stores who weren’t coming.


Again, I like big, messy universes. But there are many people out there who see a wall of comics for the first time and just leave, baffled.

I'd have to say I disagree when it comes to legacy characters making it inaccessible for new readers. I myself am pretty new, I've been reading America comics only about a year? Reading Manga for much longer. When you have that many sidekicks and people wh

Again, it’s not me saying this stuff, it’s much higher at DC than I am, and it does seem to be backed up with numbers.


I say again, ALL the stuff that supposedly turns off new readers is the exact stuff that drew me in (lots of characters, legacies, multiple Earths, continued story, on and on).


But my experience isn’t universal and may be somewhat atypical.
