Just in case you thought...

Just in case you thought it was just black people who hated gay people, get into how your white brethren showed up and showed out for chicken and homophobia.

Because nothing brings Americans together like hating on gay people!
I had some creep say he was looking out for me (with a gun) for talking about this yesterday.
Just good homespun folks, is all.
Look at them lining up like a Parade of Douches.
Okay no. NOT cool. At all. I’m not okay witheitherside of this debate, because both sides are acting, well, douchey. To these people, they’re standing up for what they believe, and supporting someone whose values they appreciate. I think they’re wrong in the way they’re doing it, but to label them haters, douches, whatever—that isnotright.
I respect your right to be gay/whatever you wanna be. Please respect my right to believe your decision is wrong.
No, you don’t deserve hate for it, but I’m sick of being labelled for my beliefs. Not all of us belong to Westboro.
Bullshit. Gay people aren’t spending millions to take away the rights of multi-millionaire activist CEOs. It’s a complete false equivalency. Also, some of that money went to a group that actively lobbied to prevent condemnation of a Ugandan law that allowed gay people to be executed. If that isn’t hate, what IS?
And finally, most of those people didn’t say they were there to ‘support free speech.’ They were there because they oppose rights for lgbtq people. They’re entitled to say what they want and eat what they want.
But I stand by my assertion of how it makes them look.

i can’t use ask boxes here in singapore for some reason, but i read the collection of the new 52 batgirl today and i may have squealed a little when babs’ roommate made her laksa. and then when i found out that she was actually singaporean
when she talks about singapore at christmas. that made me so incredibly happy and i just wanted to say thanks for that. :]

Thank you so much! I have said it many times, but on my visits to Singapore, to say I fell in love with the place and the people is a huge understatement. I have memories of that place that make me tear up a little just to contemplate. The friends I made there are some of the most treasured in my life. But there’s also another thing, which is that I hate the idea of the DCU being the same four cities all the time. I want to know what the rest of the world looks like. And it feels weird not to represent that. I promise, big things are happening with Alysia, and it will be a bit of a wait, but eventually, Batgirl will be going to Singapore. And finally, it’s not just Laksa, it’s KATONG Laksa (best in the world and I will fight anyone who disagrees!). :) Your note made my morning…thanks!
I had a little heart attack and thought you were in Singapore, Gail! Sign that I should go to sleep. Anyway had another internal squee at your mention that Batgirl will go to Singapore (eventually). I can’t wait to see that!
And YAAAAHHHH KATONG LAKSA YAAAAAHH. Also chilli crab.
The first time I experienced Chilli Crab was at a riverside restaurant in Singapore (of course). A dear friend who was at the time a culinary student (and is now a successful restaurant manager), Anthony Yeoh, invited my hubby, my son and me to eat with his family at their favorite Chilli Crab place.
It was one of the most memorable nights of my life. The mud crab was MASSIVE and they ordered lots of other dishes for us to try, and they made us feel like part of their lovely family, and damned if Chilli Crab isn’t every bit the miracle dish they said it was.
Later, on a separate trip, we ate at a different restaurant as part of a food tour publicity thing that the even sponsors put on…the chilli crab was good, but the restaurant’s specialty was Pepper Crab, and that was ridiculous, amazing. The food in Singapore is the best in the world and that was mind-blowing.
I live on the Oregon coast, we get fresh crab right off the docks all the time, only hours out of the ocean.
But we don’t do anything one millionth as cool with it here as they do in Singapore. I feel like we have the best ingredient in the world and no idea what to do with it.

LOVE this fanart of Babs!
She’s looking great here :D
Wow! Not quite understanding the boots, but a beautiful, beautiful piece of art!
Have you seen any of "young justice" yet? I absolutely adore it. Season two expanded on whatever direction they seemed to have planned from the get go. POC and Women are mainstays on the show!
I have only seen one episode, sadly! I will get caught up soon, but I really liked what I saw.
Again, the animated shows have been doing stuff that is often very progressive and even brave, and I love that. JLU Green Lantern really is THE GL for me.
