Man Delights Me Not: My Rambling Thoughts about "Fan" Reaction to Batgirl 12: A Dialogue
SPOILER WARNING
“Batgirl let Batwoman beat the shit out of her! She’s so pathetic now and I’ve lost all respect for her!”
Yes, choosing to diffuse a situation by talking instead of a fistfight is so weak. Pfft, pragmatism sucks unless Batman’s the one doing it.
“Batgirl talked about how Batwoman was a hero!…
I have seen some of this…I totally get why people would be mad that it wasn’t a traditional hero/hero fight. But yikes, I want each fight to have a different emotional content and tone. If you look, Batgirl really isn’t trying to fight back…if she does, it escalates.
Batgirl could have stood up a lot better to Batwoman if she’d had something to fight FOR. But that wasn’t what the scene was about.
I talk about this a lot, it was a major theme in Wonder Woman…strength manifests in different ways. Batwoman got the punches in, but Batgirl won, in my opinion.
Everyone reads things differently, it’s part of the fun of comics.

Marvel Now?
What are your thoughts on this initiative?
I have seen a lot of negative comments, but I think it could be a lot of fun. Some of the books look really interesting to me. Particularly Waid and Yu on Hulk, Posehn and Duggan and Moore on Deadpool, and Fraction and Allred on FF.
I know these things can get a little frustrating, just as with the New52, but I bet those books are going to be outstanding. I’m looking forward to several Marvel titles and they haven’t announced them all yet.
Hope some dames get books!
