Tonight Is A Weird Night
I have some hefty writing decisions to make, both full of peril and wonder.
And the choices I make will have a big effect on my life.

Damn, I miss Lois.
Now this is what this New 52 dealio can never give us. I miss Lois too Gail. Especially the scene from Action 904 at the end
“Clark buys them” …. Clark BUYS them. Can we just take a moment and picture adorable Clark thinking about his friends and getting all excited and being like “Oh I want them to feel comfortable and welcome at my home” So he goes and buys stuff for them IN CASE they happen to drop by…
That’s it exactly. This is from my short run on Action, and my thinking was always that Clark is the guy, the guy you want to be, to know, and to love.
So many writers come at him from the idea of, “Oh, he needs controversy and he needs to be edgy,” and it often comes off as very forced.
Repeatedly, we have seen, the way to get people to love Superman in other media is by making him a great romantic figure in both the classic and more common senses of the word. Lois and Clark, the Chris Reeves films, Smallville, etc. The way a general audience accepts Superman is when they see him as a man in love.

I love this scene, I think it’s a really powerful...
I love this scene, I think it’s a really powerful subtextual battle between the two of the most powerful fictional females ever created.
BUT, it is also the most widely interpreted scene I think I’ve ever written, and people really, really brought their own interpretation of the scene in fascinating and illuminating ways.
Some people hated it, they felt one character or the other was wildly out of character. Others really loved it.
To me, it’s a scene where each party has a nuke they don’t want to use. They both know what the other knows, but they can’t TALK about openly, in case they’re wrong, so the entire conversation is couched in code.
And in the end, Barbara way, way underestimated Lois, not just her skills as a digger for secrets, but as a person of ethics. Barbara was scared of Lois and got her motivations all wrong.
Which is a bit of a tragedy, because can you imagine them working together?

In an otherwise unhappy evening, I think it’s time to LOOK AT THIS RAGMOP for the clear laughter and derision it deserves. It took forever to get it this high, then my hubby came up and squashed it with his hands like the Hulk to make it even more ridiculous.
I am always happy to look ridiculous!
