Okay. This is the coolest thing ever. Most of you may know that...
Okay. This is the coolest thing ever.
Most of you may know that a bunch of comics creators are having auctions to raise money for comics shops that are struggling during the quarantine. There’s over a 130 of us participating, and the event is called #Creators4Comics. It’s a wonderful event, bids close 4/20 at noon, PST.
Now, before you move on, I hope you will read this post. It’s ridiculously cool, I promise.
But first, the bids and disbursement are handled by the Book Industry Charitable Foundation.
Now the fun stuff. Please check out the hashtag #creators4comics. It’s once-in-a-lifetime items from people like Brian Bendis, Scott Snyder, Tom King, Kelly Sue DeConnick and dozens and dozens more.
They asked if I wanted to participate and of course I did.
AND I BROUGHT FRIENDS.

So I have five different auctions up. I’m going to explain these briefly, but there’s more detail in the link provided at the very bottom, okay?
If you decide to bid, please include your LOT NUMBER that you are bidding on, that’s important. It won’t be counted without it.
Here we go!
LOT ONE: The HOLY CRAP BIRDS OF PREY BUNDLE
First, it includes the hard to find Birds of Prey Giant, the MURDER AND MYSTERY Bop collection, and a BOP comic script, all signed by me.
Next, it includes the ACTUAL cast and crew BOP movie t-shirt, it’s gorgeous, it was donated by the film’s screenwriter, CHRISTINA HODSON, and will be signed by her (it’s a collectible, a woman’s medium).
And finally, what was the last thing? OH YES. JURNEE SMOLLETT and ROSIE PEREZ will call you with a ZOOM VIDEO CALL directly to YOU. Yep. Black Canary and Renee Montoya call YOU and chat about comics, the movie, whatever you want.
NOT TOO SHABBY.

LOT TWO: OH MY GOD THIS RED SONJA BUNDLE
This is an impossible bundle, too. The OWNER of the Red Sonja character went into his personal collection and picked out a one-time bundle for a special Red Sonja fan. All boxed and signed by him. Luke Lieberman’s history with Red Sonja, Conan, and Stan Lee is a legend all by itself, and he’s PERSONALLY picked out these items, all unopened in the original packaging!
1) HIGH QUALITY RED SONJA PRINT, a Sideshow Collectibles art print, the finest quality, limited to three hundred copies, signed by the artist!
2) RED SONJA GLASSWARE
3) RED SONJA BOARD GAME
4) RED SONJA ACTION FIGURE
5) And finally, a RED SONJA SIDESHOW COLLLECTIBLE STATUE.
I have this statue, it’s my favorite of ALL the statues I have, it’s the only one allowed in my actual bedroom (true!).
But ALL of these are amazing. None of this stuff is standard quality, it’s all ridiculously high standard. Chosen and signed by Luke himself (who has written some damn good Sonja stories, too!).

LOT THREE: EYE-MELTINGLY GORGEOUS BIRDS OF PREY FINE ART PRINT
Again, this is a fine art print of the HIGHEST quality, limited to three hundred copies. Signed by myself AND the artists, Terry and Rachel Dodson.
These are not posters from a box somewhere, anyone who knows Sideshow Collectibles knows the care they put into these prints. Stunning!

LOT FOUR: YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME MULAN EXPERIENCE
This one is just impossible but TRUE. My dear friend MIMI CHAN, who was the undefeated martial artist in her fighting career and Woman of the Year in Martial Arts magazine, is also an actress…she played MULAN (not the voice, all the acting) for my favorite animated film AND choreographed and acted all her own fight and weapons sequences. She IS Mulan, I am in awe of her every day.
And we chatted, and she came up with THIS for the auction.
A PERSONALIZED KUNG FU LESSON FROM MIMI (MULAN) CHAN.
Now TELL me you wouldn’t love those bragging rights! She will call by Zoom or Skype, and teach you, or you and your friends or family, a PERSONALIZED lesson you will cherish forever!
This one blows my mind!

LOT FIVE: THIS IS LIKE THE GLARE OF THE SUN RED SONJA PRINT
This is the last of the Sideshow items, another ASTONISHINGLY beautiful RED SONJA poster, signed by me and the artist, Julian Tedesco!
This piece is STUNNING. It’s just a museum quality image, from Sideshow’s high printing standards. Limited to three hundred!

So, we have a new “era” so to speak. The Misfit vs King Shark was a commission, which I thought was fun and decided to include into the series. And the newer one here… The idea and premise is that now she’s running across the new universe now, with a list of lost powered children and the help of a mysterious online benefactor, she travels the globe looking for these kids to return them home.
This sounds really exciting - I’d read that book!

Another year without Misfit in comics means another year of reminding DC Comics just how awesome she is.

If you don't mind me asking, what things are you currently working on?
I can only mention a few things. I just finished Death Defying Devil and SEVEN DAYS, and I have a James Bond story coming out at Dynamite, I am doing the FLASH giants at DC, I am working on the Red Sonja movie. And I am doing stories for the HUMBLEWOOD role-playing campaign setting.
Beyond that, it’s stuff I’m not allowed to talk about yet, sorry!
