APE IN A CAPE: If You Are Openly LGBTQ And You Make Comics...
Or know someone great who is and does, I would appreciate hearing from you. Just a short bio on your work, and a link, if you have one, would be lovely.
It's for something cool, but I don't want to give away too much yet, while we are still in the very early stages. No one will be solicited or…
Gail, I assume you know about Prism Comics, right? My profile on it is here but there's a great big long list of LGBTQ comics creators from all over the world, from the big name pros to the small press guys like me. Depends what you're looking for, but I thought I'd mention it just in case you're not already aware.
***************
I'm very aware of Prism Comics, I love those guys. I am a regular supporter, I do signings, panels and other stuff for them all the time.
People should check them out, they have been supporting and promoting lgbtq comics for ages and are amazing people on top of that:

Best friend EVER
I love how that even though these two aren't a couple anymore they still care about each other so very much and are still such good friends. It's adorable
And this scene is so sweet and so heartbreaking. I just want to reach into the comic book and give Jeanette the biggest, tightest hug ever
******************
I've talked about this a little bit. I always disagreed with people trying to call the Six heroes, or anti-heroes, but there IS something heroic about triumphing over the past in the way that they all have. Without exception, the core group of Sixers have the worst, meanest, most horrible origins in the DCU. Bane was born in the worst prison on Earth, his mother was fed to sharks. Jeannette lives an endless number of lives, and is decapitated in each one, betrayed by someone who loves her. On and on. They all survive.
And I do think there is something near heroic in the way that they will put down their lives for each other. They don't necessarily LIKE each other, for the most part. But they recognize something of the pack in themselves. One goes down, the tribe lives on. And I find it somewhat heroic that each will surprisingly hit a moral wall at one point or another, some dark place where they say, 'enough' and think of moral unalterables. Even Ragdoll, at one point, realizes that Mr. Smythe is an abomination that shouldn't be allowed to live, something that took a long time to get through Ragdoll's filters.
If I have a pet peeve in comics, it's that the danger is rarely moral. It's rarely about the kinds of choices that keep you up at nights.

^THIS.^
Yes, yet it is
There is no way on earth anyone can convince me that these two are not in love with each other
Oh, come on, you never tenderly cuddled your best friend while looking them longingly in the eye and gently cradling their face with your palm and offering to stay over?
Um.

Birds...

Birds of Prey v.1 #63
Shiva seems to be enjoying a wet Dinah thrashing an equally soaked Chesire a little bit too much-
-as am I.
I totally ship Dinah/Shiva, for the record. Not as a couple, but I'm pretty sure that after hanging out and kicking ass together they then go and have the most amazing, roughest, wild sex whenever they get together
The fact that Shiva is eye-fucking the hell out of Dinah as she beats up Cheshire supports my head-canon :D
This triad is actually one of my favorite little combinations in comics. The mix of respect and contempt and attraction and revulsion in all three directions was just explosive. Dinah hates Cheshire for all she's done, Dinah fears and respects Shiva, Cheshire absolutely LOATHES Dinah for being a surrogate mother to Lian…it's just like throwing a bunch of fireworks in a hot pan and waiting for them to go off.
Sensei and Student, the arc this panel comes from, is generally the favorite BOP arc I've written and I think this triad right here is why…you never knew who was going to try to kill the other two. And the climax in the helicopter is one of my favorite Shiva/Canary moments ever.
I once had someone say that Shiva and Cheshire were indistinguishable, which still baffles me to this day. They are so different in every way, every background, every motivation, I don't understand it.

It's fine if you haven't had something published yet, but there needs to at least be something IN COMIC FORM to look at, please.

It's for something cool, but I don't want to give away too much yet, while we are still in the very early stages. No one will be solicited or anything like that, no lists are being made up for any reason, just trying to get a good sense of who is making comics that is lgbtq. Webcomics, mini-comics, whatever, it's all good.
Thanks!

APE IN A CAPE: This Is Getting Weird.
Every time a single sentence about Barbara's rehabilitation appears, I get the same parade of people who have decided that's the entire answer, and nothing else will be explained or shown.

While I haven't touched the New 52 and am unlikely to do so in the near future I have to say it's been a widespread failing to judge the comics so quickly. People were really hammering series after the first issue when I can think of few ongoings I really got into before the 3rd to 5th issue. Audiences are pretty impatient.
I should also add however that at least as the Tumblr audience goes there are lots of people who are fans of Oracle, Steph, Cass and the pre-boot DCU in general not inclined to be charitable when it comes to Babsgirl.
That's understandable and perfectly fair.

It's a little odd. In issue one, Barbara says that she's part of a 'miracle,' and, it's hard for me to even say this because it sounds so odd, but that led to a fury of people who decided that was it, that was the extent of the story.
Honestly, guys. Does anyone here REALLY think that one word in issue one and a sentence in issue four is the end?
Really?
Because I find that baffling in the extreme.
This is why I avoid reblogging things like that. Because I doubt anybody at DC would reveal the whole thing in a preview.
In retrospect, Kendra's point makes a lot of sense. With the Spider-marriage and the hypertime punch and all that stuff, I can understand readers being a little bit skeptical at this time.
I withdraw my befuddlement. ;)

If I had to pick, I'd want Savant to help me study for finals. Brilliant when I really need to get down to business, and easily distracted when I'm in procrastination-mode.
So cute!
