So, I Asked...

…Scandal is still in the DCnU.

:)

Right. And so is Stephanie Brown. And Cass Cain.

I'll believe it when I see it. It's very easy for DC editors to say so-and-so is still around. But if they're not in the actual books, those words are worthless.

Well, "worthless" is pretty strong. Stuff gets delayed, or ideas change, and that sucks.

But my first thought upon seeing Kass Sage was that she might be a retooling of Scandal. I am told that is WAY not the case at all.

That's what I'm passing on.

The Avengers Trailer

Okay, I think it looks wonderful, I can't wait to see the movie, I know some people are nitpicking and blah blah blah.

SO I AM GOING TO ADD MY NITPICK!

Everyone looks great. Seriously, they look fantastic, even Black Widow and Hawkeye look great to me.

But…doesn't Cap stand out like a sore thumb?  He was fantastic in his recent movie, but the new, modern costume is really odd, and the added details just distract from the lines of the costume. It looks like a tv movie attempt, rather than the big Hollywood studio thing. You have that awesome scene with all the characters, rotating, and suddenly there's Cap, with the wings painted on the side of his headpiece and those weird white lines on his chest.

Wish they could have tweaked his outfit, some.

What Non-DC/Marvel Comics Are You Reading Right Now?

It's easy for the big companies to soak up all the air in the room, so I'm just wondering, what books are you reading that DON'T come from the big two?

Again, Ed being great with the emotions…also, that is a very clever use of buildings in the background, almost as if they are holding up the emotional panels at the top of the page.

Does that mean you were a bigger fan of Ollie? When I was growing up, there was two divided camps, DC vs Marvel, Ollie vs Hawkeye. I stayed out of it because I didn't read much of anything with Hawkeye. Also, I had favourites from both companies. Hawkw

I hate to say it, but Ollie bugged me for a long time, too. But I had read some great Ollie stories. I didn't have access to any great Hawkeye stories when I was a kid. I'm sure it would have made all the difference.

When you're a kid, sometimes something as silly as a costume is all it takes to not like a character. I read a Legion of Super Heroes book when I was a little girl and for YEARS I only liked the ones that had good costumes in the issue I read when I was six!

I Have This Sneaking Feeling...

fuckyeahthunderbolts:

gailsimone:

…that that damn Avengers movie is going to do the impossible and make me like Hawkeye.

HOW CAN YOU DO THAT TO ME, AVENGERS MOVIE?

(It's just trying to finish the job that Hawkeye and Mockingbird started, I bet!).

Classic Thunderbolts will also help.

Someone asked why I didn't like Hawkeye, and truthfully, I'm just being a little silly. I liked him a lot in the Hawkeye and Mockingbird book.

People don't stop having visceral reactions just because they get work at DC or Marvel, nearly every pro I know has favorites and characters that they just have an aversion to. I've talked about why Wasp used to bug me but I've gotten over that. I used to not like J'onn, but now he's one of my favorites.

Basically, it's because a part of me is still eight years old and didn't like his costume. :)

Like I say, though, I liked the recent series a lot, and he looks great in the trailer. In a year, he'll probably be my favorite!

Also, Metamorpho…it took me FOREVER to get the appeal of that guy! At the same time, I love Crazy Quilt and lots of other morts. ;)
