theweekmagazine:

Planned Parenthood clinics in at least 11 states have noted suspiciously similar walk-ins in recent weeks by young women suggesting they want an abortion only if they are pregnant with a girl.

The apparently coordinated series of “hoax visits” has Planned Parenthood bracing for another “propaganda campaign” by anti-abortion activists who selectively edit secretly videotaped visits to “promote misinformation about Planned Parenthood and our services,” spokeswoman Chloe Cooney tells The Huffington Post.

I actually…

I think the actual breakdown of the Six is roughly:

Catman-bisexual

Tremor-asexual

Jeannette-bisexual

Deadshot-heterosexual

Scandal-lesbian

Ragdoll-pansexual

Knockout-bisexual

Liana-lesbian

And Mad Hatter likes hats, King Shark likes bloody meat, and Insignificus likes dirty feet.

So it was never going to be heteronormative, anyway.

Last night I was reading early trades of the Six, and I was wondering about this, too…I knew Jeannette was bisexual, btw. Glad to see I was right.

Yeah, it’s in canon that Scandal and Jeannette were lovers in a Russian gulag at the same time as Solzhenitsyn in the same place he wrote about in GULAG ARCHIPELAGO (well worth reading, if you haven’t, a fascinating takedown of a corrupt and humans-rights-violating beaurocracy that also happens to be autobiographical).

But they didn’t work out as lovers and became friends instead.

In the Secret Six story with the Get out of Hell Card it seemed like you'd added Grace Choi to the Birds. Did you ever plan on doing this in the main Birds book, and would you ever try and write her again? She strikes me as someone unencumbered by the "too

Grace was never formally a bird, she was just a character that I liked a great deal and wanted to support.

If I remember correctly, I was not writing BOP at the time, and I asked to borrow some Boppers and they weren’t all available, which is common with shared characters.

So I wanted to add a couple others and Grace came immediately to mind, and the Outsiders guys were really generous and let us use her. She didn’t get much of a role, but it was great to have her interact a little bit with Helena!

I bought batgirl 8! I got a little choked up there at the end and then BAM! I'm going to be dead until next month…

That is a strange endorsement!  :)

I am glad you liked it…the next few issues, MAN, do we have stuff coming at you guys.

Batgirl #8

Wow, I thought the reaction to Batgirl #7 was big, this issue has gotten a huge response, and a bunch of stores reported sell-outs after word got out. It makes me happy because it's not about a crossover or a gimmick, just some skeletons rattling around after escaping the closet.

Thank you SO much for the kind words and support. I have to say, I am intensely proud of the next few issues. All the stuff we have been setting up starts to pay off handsomely, and next issue in particular is just a showpiece for Ardian's best work on the book yet.

Genuinely thrilled. Thank you, guys!

The character I'll miss most in the DCnU

holyhomoeroticismbatman:

I've been thinking about this a lot, really. I'll miss a lot from the old DCU, and two of my favorite characters (Stephanie Brown and Cass Cain) have been set back ten or fifteen years or just forgotten, and The Dude would strike me down for lying if I told you I wouldn't miss Wally West. If I told you I'm not going to miss Donna Troy, The Dude wouldn't have to worry about striking me down, Donna would do it herself.

But I don't think they're the character I'll miss the most in the DCnU.

I think I'll miss Connor Hawke the most.

Connor is the biracial, Buddhist and level headed son of Green Arrow, Ollie Queen. In contrast with Ollie's passion and romantic entanglements, Connor was calm and mostly uninterested in romance (if he was written properly) because he had a job to do as Green Arrow. That's right, after Ollie's death in the 80's, Connor took the mantle, and remained the second Green Arrow for a while after Ollie came back. (Kind of like Dick being Batman while Bruce was still alive.)

Cass and Steph and Wally and Donna and numerous characters whom I'm forgetting (sorry!) are all awesome and epic and I love them greatly. But the thing is, in some capacity, I ultimately expect them to come back within the next few months (or years if we're especially unlucky).

Connor doesn't have fans, really. And that's not the fan's fault for passing over an awesome character, it's the creator's fault for not giving readers enough of a chance to fall in love with Connor. Because of that, Connor is the only character that's been MIA in the DCnU who I don't think is coming back somehow.

The fact that I honestly don't believe he's going to return is what makes me miss Connor the most.

Connor is one of the real symbols of loss I have for the relaunch. I feel there HAS to be a way to bring him back and not tie him to Ollie's age. I miss him a lot.

On Zimmerman's Site

invisiblemoose:

gailsimone:

George Zimmerman, expert killer of unarmed children, posted this on the front page of his website, over the American Flag.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke."

Mister Zimmerman, I didn't think it was possible to hate you anymore than I already did.

You are not a good man, Trayvon was not evil, and if there is ANY JUSTICE IN THIS WORLD, you will never 'triumph' again.

…He still thinks he is the fucking hero of this story.

Never a single word of remorse or sympathy for the child he killed or the family he destroyed. The only messages on his site are about him being a victim and him being a martyred hero.

Hell isn't hot ENOUGH.
