He would actually love this. :)
Is ragdoll a bit genderqueer? I always thought that because when he was cosplaying as Robin in the Battle for the Cowl arc he was calling himself the “Boy Girl Wonder”.
A BIT?

Batgirl by Kevin Nowlan
The great Kevin Nowlan with a classic Batgirl. One of THE artists I haven’t worked with yet that I would KILL to do a book with.

The GOP refuses to see an actual war on people, and they continue to make up false attacks on their rights.
Man, that might be one of the best editorial cartoons I’ve ever seen. Wow.

I Miss Artists.
Damn it, I tell you…in this business, other pros always tell you to not get TOO attached to your creative team. But I can’t help it, when you get a great artist, no matter how much you get to work with them, it’s never enough. And the best ones are almost ALWAYS the most supportive, the most creative, and the best at adding ideas on the page. So you just plain miss the partnership of working with someone who cares as much as you do about the work.
Artists I miss all the time: Dale Eaglesham, Nicola Scott, Bernard Chang, Aaron Lopresti, Terry Dodson, Jason Wright, Wade Von Grawbadger, Rachel Dodson, Ed Benes, Joe Bennett, Joe Prado, John Byrne, Michael Golden, Eddy Barrows, Mike Norton, Phil Ortiz, Udon Studios, Alvin Lee, Carlo Barber, Talent Caldwell, Adriana Melo, Jim Calafiori, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, Neil Googe, Jesus Saiz, Duncan Rouleau, Nei Ruffino, Tom Derenick, Peter Nguyen, Adam Hughes, Artgerm, Yildiray Cinar, Dan Jurgens, Lea Hernandez, Kevin Maguire, Horacio Domingues, Dan DeCarlo, those are just off the top of my head, for Pete’s sake. I know I am momentarily forgetting some.
Man, looking at that list makes me realize how ridiculously fortunate I am. I can’t believe I got to work with all of these people.
The plus is, I have secret things in place with a few of them, so it is possible to go home again! ;)

Here's a first look at the new Amethyst
DC Announced a new book starring Amethyst this morning. You can read an interview with the writer, Christy Marx here and here, via that article, is a look at the first image of the reimagined character.

I am truly excited about this. People keep talking about Jem, which is great, but Christy Marx is also the writer behind Sisterhood of Steel, a wonderful book that was one of the first truly queer friendly mainstream comics. She’s been a favorite of Dan’s forever, and I am glad he was able to bring her back like this.
As for Aaron Lopresti, I love that guy. When he drew Wonder Woman with me, I asked him, as I always do, what he would MOST like to draw. He said this exact stuff, barbarians, monsters, sword and sorcery…basically, he wanted to draw Amethyst.
So this is quite probably PERFECT creative team/book matching.
What do you make of DC putting Dinah in Team Seven? Good news for her, or bad news for the Birds? :\
I don’t know, I just now heard about it. I love Dinah, but she’s not my character anymore so I just have to hope for the best. Truthfully, I like the sound of the book at least, it’s got some of my favorite supporting characters in it.
It's Weird But...
…I am hoping Dark Knight Rises is a good movie. Avengers was such a commercial and critical smash, and such a lovely representation of what is fun about Marvel Comics, that a lot is on the line with how a more gravitas-laden DC is presented on film. It’s important. I’m interested.
Conversely, I will DIE if the Superman movie is bad. It’s just immeasurably more important to me for so many reasons. There’s already so much goofy, ignorant stuff said about Superman, often by people who should know better. And he’s had a hard decade in many ways. And his last film was a ponderous snoozy misfire. And he represents, not just DC comics, but the very IDEA of what superheroes can still be about if you care, if you want the true stuff, the non-berserker idealist joyful vitamins that Superman can bring.
Smallville did a lot of things right, but if this Superman movie is brilliant and moving, it will do a lot to reposition the character in the larger public’s mind. The idea of kids wanting a Superman lunchbox, of teenagers flocking to see his movie and thrilling to his adventures, to seeing how Lois is the ORIGINAL female comic badass, to laughing at the antics of Jimmy Olson, to making that all seem fresh and new again to a huge audience…
…THAT is a big, big deal.
