“Slumming it, angel?”

Eden turned to face the man who had approached so silently behind her. Not a man, she corrected, a thing. A bloodsucking leech was still a bloodsucking leech, even if he did look really good in black leather pants. “Ah, Smith…Did you get your fangs whitened? It’s a good look for you. Shaves off at least a century.”

* * * * *
Smith signaled the bartender and a glass of ‘wine’ was placed before him. He’d known that she was coming. He’d ducked her calls for a week, which meant it was only a matter of time. Eden was trouble. There was something about her that set the undead off, that created a shit storm of problems.

He’d met her months ago, through a mutual friend. Mara had tended bar for him, and she was a good kid, one of the few people he’d call friend. They’d found themselves in a spot of trouble, with a demon of unknown origin. Eden through some means he couldn’t quite pinpoint had identified the asshole and helped them to end the fucker. So, he owed Mara, which he didn’t mind and he owed Eden, which rankled considerably.

She pissed him off on principle. A spoiled, rich bitch, born with a silver spoon in her mouth, he didn’t have much use for her aside from the obvious one. Despise her and all her ilk he might, but he couldn’t deny that she was fucking gorgeous. Still, she’d saved his ass and he always paid his debts.

“Did you acquire that smart mouth at boarding school or have you been associating with the tired, the poor and the huddled masses?”
“What ticks you of the most, Smith? The fact that I can see you and all your creepy crawly friends for what they really are or that I inherited my wealth rather than stealing it from the butchered innocent?”

Yes, he thought, on both counts. Instead, he said, “Let’s cut the small talk, love. I don’t like you being in my club…You disturb the peace. So, have on with what you want, so I can say no.”

He felt her gaze roaming over him and his body responded to the thoughts that ran unbidden through her mind. Vampire or not, Smith was sexy as hell.

My Sexy Saturday -Soul Fire

This is my first time here and look forward to seeing all the wonderful snippets from these great writers. I offer you Soul Fire a paranormal historical on pre-order until December 1st. So without further ado here is my offering for this weeks fare.
She couldn’t help but be drawn to him. His massive body hummed with male aggression and dominance, a perfect counterpoint to her femininity. Long, thick hair caught on a small breeze, lifting away from a face of sharp angles and shadows. Moonlight touched upon him like a lover’s hand, casting him in silver, a god come to earth to claim her.A fanciful thought to be sure, yet by his intense regard of her, mayhap she had the truth of it.He strode toward her with an unnatural grace, her pulse raced with every step toward her. He reminded her of a predator, more animal than man. Her heart slammed hard against her ribs, her breathing labored as she watched him approach, forced to tilt her head up as he stopped before her. The glen suddenly seemed too small to contain such a powerful being. He slowly held out one hand to her, her eyes riveted to the long fingers. High born, not one of calloused palms from laboring in fields, but smooth, soft.Her hand reached for his of its own accord, watching as his swallowed her much smaller one. Warmth spread from her fingers up her arm as he pulled her up to her feet with a gentle tug. His nostrils flared as she stood mere breath betwixt them. A rumble rose deep within his chest and she trembled. Not from fear, nay it ’twas desire which throbbed in exquisite anticipation, her body pitched upon a precipice from which there would be no return. The hunger from moments ago flowed hotter; his male scent of windswept seas and cedar mixed with an undertone of musk caressed her. A moan escaped her as she took him into her lungs, her body softening, her core turning into molten liquid. Her ears roared as blood surged through and scalded her veins. Her body prepared for his, even as her normally logical mind struggled to reason through such a reaction with little luck.The only clarity she could summon held sway of her emotions, for in the very marrow of her bones she knew this male was hers. If only for Beltane. The gods saw fit to give her a gift. Drakkan spoke of being the hope of his children. She would grasp this with both hands, hold it tight for this one moment, and have the memories to warm her on lonely nights. For once, she would take something for herself and face the consequences on the morrow.

Pick Me Up Monday-Have a wonderful Thanksgiving

Happy Monday!
This reminded me so much of my oldest dog Baby that I had to share. 
It's the time of year where  family and friends come together in celebration of all the things to be thankful for.  Time for wonderful food, good conversation and...football.
Now I am not, or ever will be fond of the game. Yet, I can't imagine a Thanksgiving without one or more games going on while I am in the kitchen. Just like Macy's Thanksgiving day parade, it wouldn't be a holiday without this very American staple. So enjoy those special to you, eat till you're stuffed and remember the laughs to store away for future years. Hold those you cherish close and be sure they know you love them. Life is short and every moment is precious.
On that note I will very quickly and with all my heart wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. May it be filled with laughter and good food.
Save me some turkey if you will. I never have enough left over for a good old fashioned turkey sandwich. Lol!

Pick Me Up Monday-Series Launch Around the Corner!

Happy Monday!I couldn't resist this beautiful picture of Alexander Skarsgard. He changes my whole view on blonde men.Hope your day is off to a grand start, mine is clipping right along with the first book in my newest series, Soul Fire due out in December.After considerable debate I have decided to self publish this one as an exclusive on Amazon. We will see how things pan out. If things go as well as I'm told, I will be using them moving forward. 
In other news HMK is starting up a new monthly meeting for writers and aspiring writers. I am hoping to establish a strong presence in Las Vegas area for all writers to come, learn and share. The only requirement is that you must write. 
With Soul Fire ready to leave the nest I am finishing up the second book in the series and will be releasing it early next year. Not too far away from the first book's release. I will have much more on both of these books in following blogs, at this time I must get back to it. No matter how much I entice those darn elves the refuse to write this darn book for me lol!

Pick Me Up Monday - NaNoWriMo Shannan Style

Happy Monday!Here is a little inspiration for my fellow authors. Boy, my muse is singing to me now lol!
As the title of this post says, November is national write a novel in a month (NaNoWriMo) Although I have not participated in this, I still use this month to work on not just one story, but several others in the hopes to have more than one ready for release in a reasonable time frame. 
So the Shannan style of this is simple. Write like hell, when you get stuck on one story, switch to another and go back and forth with each story until they are done. Yep, it works for me, and I know their are others who do the same, so it's not anything unique. 
I am working on my much neglected Firestorm novel and a contemporary erotic short story which I have in process already. It is my first contemporary, which I do find...different. Laughing, my heart will always belong to the dark paranormals who stalk the night, dangerous and oh so alpha. 
Well I best be back at it. Have a wonderful week and I'll touch base next week.

“This is barbaric.”He blinked in surprise as the druidess stepped in front of him. Her scent swirled in the air as her hair brushed up against the stubble of his chin in a soft erotic glide. He breathed in her heady aroma of vanilla and green grass deep into his lungs, his willful body hardening in response to her nearness regardless of what his mind thought.  “I will not just stand here and let you abuse this man.”“Can you truly be that naive? That is not a man, it’s a demon. A beast with no soul. It lives only for the chance to destroy us, should we be foolish enough to give them the chance.”“Enough!” The Polariate’s voice whipped through the arena bringing a heavy science in its wake. “Stand aside Leigh. Now.”
Disbelief held him immobile. Never in his life could he remember anyone ever coming to his aid before. Yet this woman, Leigh was willing to save him from an assassin’s blade. It confused him, made him wary and wondering what she held in store for him. For this surely this must be just another form of torture.

Pick Me Up Monday-Getting back on track

Good Morning and Happy Monday!
There is something about long hair on a man I find sexy as hell. My muse agrees since I'm getting all kinds of wonderful stories where this particular male is my lead character.
Now that my life as calmed down a bit I'm enjoying the extra time to write. Something I have missed a great deal is being able to create without any deadline or word count needed to be met. I'm just writing for the simple joy of telling my stories. Not that I don't like having deadlines, but there are times when it's nice to go at a slower pace.
I am also setting up a Facebook event with Author Island for the anthology I have a story in. Release has yet to be announced, but it will be before Halloween so stay tuned for more information on this.
Well, time to get back to work. Have a great week and we will talk again.

Pick Me Up Monday-Meet Taren from The Hunted

Happy Monday!
Hope your day is going well as we all work for the weekend. Today I wanted to share a little sinspiration for my latest character. Meet Taren from The Hunted. He is part of an eight author anthology called When the Night Comes. We are only days from finding out what the release date will be and I'm very excited to have been asked to join wonderful authors  Seraphina Donavan, Leanore Elliott, AR Von, Kate Baum, Trish Finley Leger, Ruby Madden and Charisma Knight.It was a long rough road with HMK 2014 and a demanding day job, but I made it. Who is Taren? Well, not to give too much away, he is a demon held captive by a Guild of Magic users. Taren came to me with his story quite suddenly. As often happens I already had outlined and started the first chapter when he made his appearance and told me I was getting it all wrong. 
Who am I to argue? So two months later his story will be told and I can't be happier to introduce to you a new world I've been working on for next year. This story gives you a small taste of the world to come and I hope you like it. 
I'll post more once I have the cover and release date. So back to the other WIP's waiting for my attention. Have a wonderful week and we will talk again on Monday.

Well, the little convention that could...did and boy did it turn out to be a success! Of course the applause is not mine to take, it belongs to each author who attended and the readers who came.
