Author, author... Edie Hart with One Bad Day & a giveaway!

...read all about it !!

I am thrilled to have with me today, Edie Hart

Hi Edie, could you tell us a little about yourself...

I was born in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. I still live in that area.  I am a wife and mother of two. I think that everyone deserves to be loved unconditionally—and that’s why I write romance. Everyone should have a little “happily ever after” and romance novels share a bit of that with everyone.

What or who initially inspired you to become a writer?
As a child I was always making up stories in my head.  Sometimes I would see a movie or read a book and think about different avenues that the book/movie could have taken. All my life I’ve wanted to write – one day I decided I’d better do it before time slipped away from me.

What kind of research do you do for a novel and how extensive do you get?

I can get carried away with research.  I love learning about things and I’m curious.  I have to limit myself so that I don’t lose track of time and also so that my writing doesn’t come out sounding more like an educational essay.  : )

Do you have a special place you like to do your writing? Such as an office, a spare room, the dining room table, your couch?

I have a spot in my living room that I normally gravitate to, but I will write anywhere.  I’ve written in the car between little league baseball games.  I’ve also written at dance rehearsal while waiting for my daughter.

As a reader, what types of works do you like to read and do you think they influence the genre/genres you write in?
I’m a sucker for a happily ever after. I love romance.  I’ll read anything (the whole curiosity thing), but I love to write romance.

What is your favorite method of writing...as in laptop, desktop, Ipad or the old fashioned pencil and paper??  And do you plot out your story or go with the flow of your muse?
I do minor plotting so that I have a direction, but with the actual guts of the story, I just go with the flow.  That can be problematic because sometimes the characters take over and slightly change the direction of the story.I think my favorite method is pencil and paper, but most of the time I write on a laptop…  it’s easier to make modifications and saves time.

When you need a break or some time off from the trials of being a writer, what can you be found doing?
I love to read.  I do some editing on the side. My son is on a little league travel baseball team.  I hate sports, but I love to watch him play.  I really enjoy taking pictures at the games… I take pictures of all the kids and try to share with other parents when I can.
Is there anything about yourself nobody knows that you would like to share with our readers??
When my daughter was younger, she was hit in the face by her television set when her dresser fell on her.  She was fine, but I think people should know what could happen and that anchoring furniture is extremely important. My family was lucky.

Now for fun, I have a few personal questions,
Your Favorite 5
1) Favorite color - Blue2) Favorite dessert - Cupcakes3) Favorite Season - Fall4) Favorite sad song- Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls5) Favorite Romantic movie – The Ugly Truth (love Gerard Butler).

Where can our readers find you??  Website FacebookTwitter

Is there an upcoming or current release you would like to share with us today and where can we find it?
Not yet on an upcoming.  I’m still working on Book 2 and have ideas for Book 3 and a possible Book 4.  I do have a current release though!

One Bad Day
Blurb:
Tessa is having one seriously bad day. After agreeing to dress as a cheesy mascot at a convention for her boss, her clothes get stolen, she gets chased through a sinister parking garage, and her apartment gets broken into and turned upside down.
Gray, an off-duty police officer, can’t resist the sexy legs he sees in costume at a hotel convention. When he catches sight of her running for her life through a dark car lot, he's determined to find out what her story is and ends up promising to keep Tessa safe...even if that means taking her home with him.

Excerpt:
Gray stepped outside of the hotel ballroom hoping the air would be cooler out there. He hated stuffy gatherings. Hell, he hated weddings. How two people could think they'd love each other forever was beyond him. Gray didn't do love. Which was why he was stag at a co-worker's wedding. He'd originally planned to invite Monique, but several months back she'd become demanding and talked about moving into his place with hearts and flowers in her eyes. So he'd ended it. Deep down, he'd known that she didn't really want him. She wanted any warm body that would take care of her. She had slowly been trying to mold him into some GQ tycoon, telling him what to wear, how to act, and even going as far as telling him what he needed to do career-wise.
A loud crash on the other side of the hall caught Gray's attention. In the open ballroom across the way he saw legs. Glorious legs in strappy high heels. The beautiful legs were tangled on the floor and attached to an ass that was just as gorgeous. After taking a closer look, Gray realized that above the amazing ass was an enormous, white light bulb-shaped head with blue googly eyes. It had blonde hair and wore a glittery purple hat. The tangled-up legs and heels were flailing around in a pile of what looked like empty light bulb boxes. Several gentlemen nearby were quick to help Legs get her feet beneath her. From their smiles and laughter he could tell that they were all quite happy to be of assistance. Gray didn't blame them.
He watched Legs find her balance in those high heels, and with a little wiggle and tug of her skirt she went on her way.

WARNING:  This is a spicy romance novel intended for MATURE readers 18+.  Graphic sexual situations and language are used at the writer's discretion.

Excerpt:
Kissing her on the forehead, he says in a rough voice, "You are sin, Ellie and we might as well do it right."          He leans down and begins to kiss her, teasing her lips with little nibbles asking for entrance.  Ellie opens her lips and sighs as Jasper deepens the kiss.  Tugging the pins from her hair so it cascades over his hands, he reaches for the clasp of the dress at the base of her neck.  he pulls both her dress and bra down to her waist leaving her breasts exposed to the cool air.  Instantly they pucker and strain toward the sexy vampire that was devouring her mouth like a thirsty man.  Bringing his hands up to grasp her breasts, Jasper begins to pull and pinch the nipples almost to the point of pain then soothes the peaks with a gentle stroke of his thumbs.  Ellie groans with the pleasure of Jasper's touch and arches into his hands begging for more.          Pulling back from her lips, he looks down, sees the glazed look of passion on her face, and is envious of Ian at having the passion of this luscious woman.

Author, author...Anything But Sweet

...read all about it !!

Please welcome the fantastic author of Anything BUT SWEET, Candis Terry !!

Hi Candis and Welcome, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hi! And thank you so much for letting me drop in today! If I’m a new to you author I write sexy sweet small town contemporary romance. I always add a touch of quirkiness, some interesting secondary characters (including those with fur), and hopefully a lot of heart and soul.

What did you want to be when you were growing up or did you always want to be a writer?
When I was a kid I was a readaholic but it never occurred to me to be a writer. I wanted to be a performer. Mostly a dancer although I also have a past of singing.

When did you first start writing?
I dabbled a little bit in high school with some really teenage angsty poetry. But I didn’t get serious about writing until after I had my daughter and started reading romance. A story idea hit me and that was that. So basically I started 28 years ago. Sheesh that’s a long time!

What is a typical writing day like for you?
Crazy. About a month ago I left my day job and now I devote all my time to writing. Before I left the day job a typical day meant 8 hours of that and then 5-6 hours a night of writing. Now I do most of the business end in the mornings (which can take several hours) and then I write. I still haven’t broken myself from the habit of writing at night. I do take occasional breaks from the keyboard to walk through my garden, or go out back and watch our alfalfa grow and hang out with my dogs. Once they start snoring I know its time to get back to work.

Do you have any specific routine you follow or specific items you need with you when you write?
Coffee, and lots of it. Once I open up my manuscript I usually go over what I’d written the day before and edit or add a little, then I try to move on and not obsess. Notice I said “try.”

What is your favorite part of writing?  Is there anything you don’t like about being a writer?
My favorite part is seeing the characters come alive. Each one is so different and very often they end up being a lot different than I first imagined. Anything I don’t like? Hmmm. Missed opportunities. Places where later I realize something about the character or the story and it’s too late to change or add.

What is your favorite length of book to write?  (Short story, novella, full length novel) Why?
Full length. I have a hard time stopping. I know each scene needs to matter and so I do my best to stay on track. But sometimes I just manage to keep throwing curveballs at the characters and so far they haven’t figured out a way to stop me.

How does your family feel about your writing and you being an author?Oh my god, they’re saints. Truly. While they are very supportive (and they definitely go above and beyond that call) and beyond patient, sometimes they get frustrated. I’m trying to be better at walking away from the keyboard but usually they have to haul me out into the forest and plop me on an ATV before I can completely let go.

Is there a to-be-read waiting on your bedside table?
You bet there is. I was just handed it last night—an ARC of Rachel Gibson’s September 2013 release of RUN TO YOU. I can’t wait!

Just for fun, I have a few personal questions,
Favorite 5   1)   Favorite Holiday — Christmas.   2)   Favorite Drink — Anything coffee related. Or Diet Pepsi.  3)   Favorite Author — Ah, come on! One? Impossible.  4)   Favorite Book — At the moment, Kristan Higgins The Best Man  5)   Favorite Animal — German shepherd. Really. I couldn’t say anything else with two pairs of German shepherd eyes staring up at me from their place by my flip-flops.

And for a bonus:  What is a typical mood for you?  And is your mood different when you’re writing?
Frenzied. And nope.

Do you have a favorite recipe you'd like to share?  I like to cook and am always looking for new recipes to try and share.

I haven’t put this one up on my website yet but it was inspired by a restaurant in my new book ANYTHING BUT SWEET.

Anything But SweetSweet Texas Series
BlurbA man who doesn’t like change . . .
The Wilder family is something of a Sweet, TX institution: between their yearly BBQ blow-outs and their Hardware and Feed store, they’re an institution—an institution that ex-marine Reno Wilder has tried to preserve, in honor of his lost loved ones. But it seems like he’s the only one who’s got any respect left for traditions when a new TV makeover show rolls in to renovate Sweet to bring in more tourists. Everyone is pleased except Reno—and this cowboy is determined to keep everything just the way he likes it.

A woman who wants to change everything . . .
Inquisitive. Stubborn. Smart. Drop dead gorgeous. That would be makeover show host and designer, Charlotte Brooks—the woman Reno has declared war against. And yet, he can’t seem to keep away from her, or to get her off his mind. Charlotte isn’t afraid to back down from a challenge—of any kind—and she’s promised to prove to Reno that change can be sexy, hot, and very, very sweet, if Reno and Charli learn to let go of their pasts and grab hold of a future full of promise.

MY REVIEW:

What an adorably sweet read!!  I think Ms. Terry has created a couple of lovable characters in Reno and Charli and took the time to develop the Romance despite Reno's utter dislike of change.  Who can resist the honest charms of a sweet beautiful woman and Reno can't help but feel protective even though he wasn't thrilled to find out she was living above his barn. (i liked that part :))  I think Reno is my type of guy! Of course, I have a huge thing for cowboys and the fact he's an ex-marine doesn't hurt.

Charli was definitely a sweet addition to the story, the town and really to Reno's life.  Charli's childhood was one that made her ache for the little things including a family and a place to call her own so it was fitting that the Wilders welcomed her so easily.

I loved the small town feel in this story as well and felt jealous because I've always wanted to live in one just like this.  I also thought Reno's family ties, as in his mom and brothers are definitely important in creating a strong background and possibly future story lines.

Great job Candis Terry and I'll most definitely be searching out your other titles.   This is one of my highly recommended reads !

  Ex cerpt
Pen and I are lounging under a big white umbrella. I am curled up with my head on his chest. His heartbeat is steady and slow, his breathing shallow. He is asleep. I pinch his arm playfully. “You’re going to miss it.”
He takes a deep breath and chuckles. “I’m awake. And I’ve seen my share of sunsets.”
I turn my head and rest my chin on his chest. His eyes are still closed. “You’re a grouch, you know that?”
He opens one eye and stares at me. “You know I’m going to find you. You don’t need to do this.”
My throat burns with emotion. “Yes, I do. You might not make it in time.”Both his eyes open and stare blankly up at the umbrella. He is angry. His jaw clenches and his nostrils flare.
“It’s almost time.” I crawl up and lie down, straddling him. My blonde hair makes a curtain around us. He looks sad as he reaches up and holds my face.
“I don’t know how to say goodbye to you.”
I smile. The sun is glowing in the horizon. Its resting place comes alive with color. I see it all happen in the reflection in his eyes.

“Yes, you do.” I press my lips against his, urgently stealing every taste of him. I pull his lip through my teeth, and he groans loudly. The sound is erotic. Suddenly his hand is on the back of my head, pulling me roughly against him. His lips are not gentle anymore. They are rough and scaly, like a snake. He is hurting me. I push hard against his chest, only to realize my hands are bound. I start to cry as the sun descends into its salty grave.

Excerpt:
“That smart mouth doesn’t sit well with me,” he licked his lips. His eyes never wavered from mine.
I nibbled on my lower lip, just as a small smile graced the edges of my mouth. Oh yeah, my bravado was about ready to kick some ass. I think I kind of liked being a smart ass.
“What are you going to do about it Jack?” I inhaled a breath, taking in his warm, delicious scent. My throat went even drier than before. I practically stared holes into his face as I studied every tiny mark, every single scar on his perfectly flawed skin. He was gorgeous, with a little scar here, a little white patch there. His hotness could have left me breathless for days if I kept up my perusal any longer.

And then I blinked, Christ. I knew exactly what had to be done. I had to kiss him. I had to get this itch scratched and then I had to move on. His eyes darkened, his breath was warm and heavy over my face, and he licked his lips. I blinked. Holy-balls… He wanted to kiss me too.
That ever-present electricity running between us wouldn’t stop. If anything, it only increased our pull. I moved in; his lips touching my lips was all I wanted. I needed to feel again, feel it all with a boy who hated me, but apparently wanted to kiss me as badly.
Dryness on dryness soon changed to warmth on warmth, and when I pressed my mouth fully to his, his hands left my neck, and went to my waist. His fingernails dug into my sides and the son of a bitch pushed me away from him.
So there I was, my head tilted to the side, ready, willing, and able to do whatever the hell this moment led us too, and all he could do was chuckle. Yes. Chuckle. He was the biggest rat bastard.
Ever.

Author, author.... Winter Austin ~ The Degrees of Darkness Series & Giveaway

...read all about it !!

So excited to introduce Winter Austin.  Welcome Winter, so great to have you here with us.  Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a military wife (hopefully soon the wife of a teacher) and the mother of 4. A pet wrangler, a taxi cab driver, 4-H parent, and full-time author with a crazy penchant for baking. In my family I’m the weird writer you need to steer clear of lest you become the next character who meets their demise in some deadly fashion, but my crazy family members don’t run away. J In fact they all gravitate toward me, because I picked up on the great storytelling abilities that my grandmother’s family is known for.

Do real life events find their way into your stories?
Not usually. I write romantic thrillers and I’d be freaked out if some of the things I wrote in my books actually happened in my life. But I do steal dialogue lines from my husband and some of the people around me.

Do you ever mimic family members or people you know when you choose characters?
Little things like comments or gestures from family and friends tend to work their way into most of my characters. But no one person would be able to see themselves in any of my characters. Though my husband is somewhat the inspiration for a secondary character in my series, which tickles him.
I have warned people not to tick me off. LOL! Pays to be a thriller/suspense author. You can throw that comment around the: “if you irk me I’ll kill you off in my book.” *snicker*

Do you find yourself going back to the same inspiration for each story or is it always something different?
I’m an action junkie, so a lot of the times I fuel my imagination with thriller novels, movies, or intense romantic suspense novels. Cop shows like Castle have been a good source for picking up a plot point I could run with. Real life crime stories have been a huge source of inspiration, and right now I’m working on the 4th book in my Degrees of Darkness series and the plot is practically ripped from the headlines, but with my twist to it.

When do you write?  Early morning? During the day sometime or all day?  After the kids go to bed?
Most of my mornings are eaten up with getting my family going, and then prepping for the rest of the day, ie meals and errands. If the writing is going strong I will write in the morning. But mostly I sit down around noon or after and get to writing. Sometimes I’ll write in the evenings if nothing is going on with the family.

How do you feel about marketing your book?
I’ll admit if I didn’t have the agent I do I wouldn’t know the first thing about doing this properly. Marketing is hard, but with the right tools you can make it successful. I’m finding the tips and help from my agent helped me build my platform before I was even published. Now that I am, it’s building readership and readers love to communicate with you via Twitter and Facebook.

What social sites do you feel work best for marketing?
Twitter and Facebook. Everyone uses those 2 social media outlets. For authors, each of those needs to have a separate feel. I use my Twitter for announcing reviews and links to my books or special events. My Facebook page is where I interact more with the readers. On occasion I’ll be seen communicating with followers on Twitter, but I prefer Facebook for that. Feels more personal.

Do you like to pitch stories to your publisher or do you wait until you have written the story and have a final manuscript to turn in?
For my Degrees of Darkness series, I already had the first 2 books written and half of the third one done and a hook line for book 4. My publisher Crimson Romance picked up the series with a proposal and the knowledge that 2 of the books were done. I’ve found it does make it easier if the book is completed because most publishers are looking to publish as soon as they can, and the less time they have to wait on the book to be completed, the happier they are. And like I said I have an awesome agent to help with proposals, so I just do the hard work—can we say ick on the synopsis writing—and she runs with the rest.

Is there any other genre that you would love to try writing?  If so, what is it?
I’m actually pretty happy writing in the genre I’m in: Romantic Thriller. And I did self-publish an Urban-Fantasy, I would like to expand on that a bit more. It does have my brand of thriller/suspense elements in it.

Do you always/ever see yourself as the heroine/hero when you write a story?
No. But I will admit, I will “act” out the dialogue scenes between the Hero and Heroine in order to hear what they’re really saying. Ahem, and no one is around when I do this. J

Just for fun, I have a few personal questions,
Favorite 5
1)   Favorite Male Actor  - Tom Selleck
2)  Favorite vehicle – ’69 Ford Mustang—red or black
3)  Favorite way to relax – Reading or baking
4)  Favorite ice cream – Homemade with whole milk, Vanilla
5)  Favorite outfit – Anything I can wear my cowboy boots with.

And for a bonus:  If you could pick any place in the world to live, besides where you are now, where would it be?  (Of course, without the hindrance of jobs or money needed)
Oh, do I have to choose one? First, I’d probably live in Louisiana for a few years, then move to France, after that—if my husband could convince me to do so—live in Germany for a while. I’d love to connect with my long-buried French roots, despite what my family thinks. J

Author, author... Grading on Curves ~ Tasty Book Blurb

...read all about it !!

Grading on Curves
By: Tara Mills

Blurb
One-on-one instruction never felt so right—or so wrong.
There’s nothing unusual about Mia Page’s attraction to the young science teacher at the middle school. After all, she’s not the only one who finds him enticing. But when he pulls her son aside to ask for her phone number, she knows she’s in serious trouble. Since her divorce four years earlier, she’s been out of circulation, choosing to focus on parenting instead, and she’s not entirely sure she can handle an entanglement with the sexy Mr. Walden.
There are also other reasons why getting involved with Curt would be a bad idea. He’s two years shy of thirty, and she’s on the downside of that unmentionable number. He’s adamant about never having kids, and she has a son. Even the guy’s romantic gifts are suspect. Energy saving light bulbs? He has to be kidding.
On the other hand, he’s fun, sweet, and smart. He stimulates her intellectually, emotionally, and Lord help her, physically, opening her eyes to life outside her comfortable world. Yet their differences quietly gnaw at Mia even while she succumbs to their undeniable chemistry.
As their romance deepens, so do Mia’s fears that Curt will eventually hurt her. On edge, all it takes is an innocent comment to provoke her into drawing first blood. Mia recklessly wounds Curt, learning only too late that this blade cuts both ways. Frantic to make amends, she fears it might be too late to admit the feelings she’s tried so hard to suppress.

Author Info
I write stories I like to read -- contemporary romances with identifiable characters and themes. Life is hard, love makes it bearable. If you like stories with heart, heat, and humor, I have a title for you.

In the real world I'm a pampered wife, lucky mom to three amazing sons and one wonderful daughter-in-law, and I just became a very young grandma. I should probably underline the word very. Oh heck, why not the word young too? Nah, you get the point. I'm also the daily monitor of one naughty dog with an attitude.

The Melody In My Head Love and Music in Texas, Book Two by Nikki Lynn Barrett

 Blurb:
Welcome back to Harmony's Echo, Texas.....

Melody Roland is on the run from the one person she trusted completely. One who hid a dark past she could never have imagined. When a pregnant woman on the bus she's fleeing on goes into labor, Melody rushes to her aide. Now she finds herself stranded in a tiny remote town just off the highway, with no way to her original destination.

She's alone, on edge, and unsure who to trust. Her instincts scream to get far away and fast. But how and where?

Jameson Grant struggles through the roughest year of his life. Suffering from the loss of his father, one grief stricken night, he made a mistake. One which cost him the only woman he's ever loved. Each lonely day he's faced with the constant reminders of how quick things can change. Throwing himself into the one thing he has left, his music, helps dull the pain he fights to keep hidden. His last salvation begins to crumble as things spiral out of control and he has no choice but to face the 'music' of his past.

The last thing he needs or wants in his life is a woman with more trouble on her heels than the best of country music lyrics. But Melody sings a sirens call within him that can't be ignored.

Jameson and Melody bond in ways stronger than either could have imagined, but one dangerous person from her past may threaten it all...

If she doesn't flee before he can convince her to stay, and that some love songs last an eternity.

 Excerpt
Jameson set the bag on the table and followed the sound. Not only was she playing the guitar, but she was singing, too. She sat on the stool in the middle of the garage, wearing a white half sleeved shirt that showed enough skin to drive him crazy. She had her legs crossed and her hands gracefully strummed the strings.                She was beautiful. She seemed at ease, her eyelids half shut as she played her heart  out with the song. Jameson made sure to stay out of sight. She hadn't caught on that he was there yet, and if he made her aware of his presence, she might stop. He wanted to hear more.  Good God, her hands on his guitar, he wanted those hands back on him.            She finished the song. Jameson had to catch his breath before popping in, clapping and grinning. She practically jumped from the stool and she put that guitar down quick.  “That was beautiful. I didn't realize you played!”             “Oh! Jameson, you startled me. I'm sorry, I had no idea you were home already. I couldn't help but pick up the guitar..I just, I felt compelled.”She was blabbering and apologizing for nothing. Jameson crossed the room, closing the distance between them and gathered her in his arms.             “Melody, why would you apologize? You keep doing that, and I can't understand why.”Jameson kissed her forehead, then threaded his fingers through her hair. She looked up at him with wide eyes.  “I'm not mad at you, angel. I loved what you were playing.” He dipped his head and took her lips again, nibbling on the bottom one. When he pulled away, he smiled. “ Not to mention how hot it was to watch your hands move on my guitar. It made me think of a not to distant morning when your hands were doing something else.”            That got her to laugh as she leaned against him. “You crack me up, you know. Thank you for the beautiful flowers and the card.”            “You're welcome.  I just wanted to let you know how much I was thinking about you. I can't stop. You're in my head. I've got Melody in my head. Hey, that's a good song title. The Melody in My head.”            She blushed and ducked away, but Jameson pulled her closer to him. “I love it when you blush. It's sexy.”              “You are determined to get me all flustered, aren't you?” She questioned with a smile.             Jameson shrugged, playing coy. “It's working quite well, I'd say. My master plan to woo and seduce you is playing out just fine.”             She raised a brow at him. “Oh, is that what it's all about?”Melody backed out of his arms and wagged a finger at him. “I should have known. You want me for my skills. I think I'll be taking them and going now...” She slowly backed away, watching him with a mischievous grin as her eyes lit up.             Jameson caught her at the door, pinning her to the wall. “You didn't get very far, did you?” He lowered his head, ready to devour her again. He teased her neck with kisses until she moaned. “Looks like I won this round.”                 “You're evil.”

Fun Facts about The Melody in My Head, and the Love and Music in Texas Book series
1.    Jameson's character wasn't originally going to be a good guy.  (I know, I know...what was I thinking?) As I wrote Baby Stetson, he surprised me and grew on me. I loved him so much, I had to give him his own story and HEA.                  2.  Melody's character actually had a part in another book. I had her backstory and plot figured out a  long time ago, I just had no idea I'd pair her with Jameson and send her to Harmony's Echo, Texas. But it worked out so well! Love it when I can combine story ideas!
 3.    The song lyrics I incorporate in the story are mine. I am a lyric writer, and so I fit some of my own songs in the story as I see fit. :)
4.    Book Three will feature Jameson's sister, Blaine, and the keyboardist for Baby Stetson Randy. I started thinking about them while writing The Melody in My Head. That story should come out 2014.

From now until the end of July, Baby Stetson, the first in the Love and Music in Texas series, is

discounted to just $.99.  You'll meet Jameson in this book, and then you can get his story when The Melody in My Head comes out.

Baby Stetson Blurb:
In small Texas towns, strangers come and go...

Left in a Stetson hat, on the steps of the local bed and breakfast, Avery Callimer came into the world on a wing and a prayer. Raised by loving adoptive parents, she's never lacked for love...only the knowledge of her past.

By day she works the Inn, but by night...Avery comes alive as lead singer in a band. Life was good...stable, until new guests blew into town.

Some strangers come with secrets and lies

Lucas Bennett is one such stranger. Drifting from one mess to another has left him jaded. Doesn't matter the dramas are never his doing. Giving it one last shot to make a fresh start lands him Harmony's Echo, Texas and smack dab in front of the tantalizing Avery.

Despite his best efforts to ignore the burn Avery's ignited within, he's intent to keep his distance. Secrets have followed him. Secrets he doesn't want Avery to know.

Each time they're near the other things heat up like a brushfire on a dry Texas prairie.

But maybe, after the dust settles and the smoke clears, love can bloom with a fresh start.

Author, author... of The Last Execution

...read all about it !!

Welcome Jerrie, would you tell us a little about yourself...
I write sexy, alpha males and kick-ass women who weave their way through death and fear to emerge stronger because of, and on occasion in spite of, their love for each other. I like to torture people, (in my books) make them suffer, and if they’re strong enough, they live happily ever after.
My debut novel THE GREEN-EYED DOLL came out12/07/12. I'm thrilled to announce THE LAST EXECUTION became available 06/07/13. My husband and I live in Texas. Some of my favorite things are sunshine, children’s laughter, sugar (human and granulated), and researching for my heroes and heroines.

What or who initially inspired you to become a writer?
I can't actually Put my finger on any one thing. Way back in high school I wrote, which led me to studying journalism. My desire to embellish on stories probably drove me to writing fiction. My dad always said I had fanciful ideas, and eventually they spilled out on paper.

What kind of research do you do for a novel and how extensive do you get?
Tons! I love to read books written by FBI profilers, I belong to educational loops such a Crime Scene Writers, and am not beyond contacting the sheriff's office, police department or even the FBI with my questions. I think writing romantic suspense the villain plays a huge role. He has to be realistic, his motivations have to be clear or he comes across as phony.

Do you have a special place you like to do your writing? Such as an office, a spare room, the dining room table, your couch?
We converted our dining room to an office. And my husband put up a 4x8 white board on one wall! It's a quiet place with three big windows to let the sunshine in while I'm working.

As a reader, what types of works do you like to read and do you think they influence the genre/genres you write in?
I read almost anything if it's well written. But my heart is with the romantic suspense books. Linda Howard is my all time favorite. Her Death Angel is the best book ever. However, I confess to loving a good historical romance. Elizabeth Hoyt can turn a phrase so beautifully! I do think their expertise influences me. Make me worker harder, dig deeper, try to reach that level of writing!

What is your favorite method of writing...as in laptop, desktop, Ipad or the old fashioned pencil and paper??  And do you plot out your story or go with the flow of your muse?
I love my desktop and big screen monitor. It has me spoiled so that when I travel and have to use my laptop, it takes some getting used to.
I swear I've tried to plot! Taken classes from really great authors. But I always fall back to going with the flow. I try to metaphorically change hats with each character, get into their head and let the story tell itself.

When you need a break or some time off from the trials of being a writer, what can you be found doing?
I enjoy watching my granddaughter play volleyball. Or spending time with family and friends. My favorite thing is finding a warm ocean, white sand, and hanging out.

Is there anything about yourself nobody knows that you would like to share with our readers??
Not many secrets left. Maybe that I paint. Flowers mostly. I love bright colors and the world offers so many different varieties to paint. Not that my paintings will ever do justice to mother nature!
For fun, I have a few personal questions,
Your Favorite 5
1) Favorite color - Red, bright, hot red.
2) Favorite dessert -   Tough one. Bread pudding or tiramisu
3) Favorite Season -   Summer-summer-summer! I'm a Texan, so bring on the sun and warm weather.
4) Favorite sad song -  When I Call Your Name by Vince Gill. Makes me cry every time I hear him sing it!
5) Favorite Romantic movie -  Okay...don't laugh. The Phantom of the Opera with Gerard Butler! Only I'd rewrite the ending. I'd put  the mask back on the Phantom, and I would stay with him!
But to be serious, I love Pride and Prejudice with Keria Knightley. The ending scene with Mr. Darcy walking across the moor in the mist...*sigh* He slowly morphed throughout the movie from unattractive to drop dead gorgeous!
And a bonus, what is your ideal romantic vacation??
Anywhere there's a beach with white, powdery sand, crystal clear water, warm, balmy days, and good food. The Riu Palace Resort in Negril, Jamaica fits the bill. It's beautiful, the people are warm and friendly. The grounds crew will even put flowers on your sun lounger.

Is there an upcoming or current release you would like to share with us today and where can we find it? The Last Execution
by
Jerrie Alexander

Release Date: June 7th, 2013
Blurb:To survive, she must put the past behind her. To love, she must learn to trust.
Homicide detective Leigh McBride's first assignment with the FBI brings her face-to-face with a past she's tried hard to forget. And when her temporary partner, a cynical ex-marine, lights a fire in her she thought long-extinguished, her darkest secret is threatened.
Scarred both physically and emotionally, Special Agent J. T. Noble is a man of few words. He prefers to keep people at a distance—until he meets Leigh. He's attracted to her strength and drawn in by her secrecy. But in their line of work, secrets can be deadly.
When the killer they are hunting aims his vigilante justice at Leigh's past assailant, the fine line between right and wrong blurs. To heal the past—and find their future together—Leigh and J. T. must learn that only through trust and forgiveness can love grow.

Excerpt:
The six-year-old missile launched himself into the air, giving J.T. two choices. Catch the kid, or let him fall to the ground like a deflated football. J.T. grabbed him and held Ethan out in front, as he would a wet, smelly dog.         Leigh jogged down the sidewalk, sparks flashing from her eyes. She pulled her son out of J.T.’s grasp and plopped the kid down at her feet. She knelt and got right in his face. J.T. made a mental note to not piss her off.        “What have I told you about running out the door?”         Ethan’s head bowed. “Don’t even think about it.” He stared at the tops of his bare feet.         “Obviously, you didn’t listen.” She tugged the knot at the back of her head tighter before she looked up. “Sorry about the attack.”        “Kid’s a natural born high jumper.” J.T. stuffed his hands in his pockets. She’d wadded her hair in the old-lady-school-teacher-bun-thing she wore at work. Probably just as well. If she’d left all that blond silk loose and sexy, he might’ve thought this was a date or something, which it wasn’t. Him being here was entirely the fault of his own big mouth.         “Please.” She waved a hand toward the wide-open front door. “We were about to come and get you.”        “You knew I was here?”        “A black Corvette rumbling around in our neighborhood doesn’t go unnoticed.”         Dressed in blue jean shorts and a thin-strapped top exactly the same blue as her eyes, Leigh looked more like a model than a mom. J.T. was glad he’d worn a T-shirt and Wranglers.         His chest double-clutched and pulled a weird stutter step when a small hand gripped two of his fingers and two small feet shuffled hurriedly to keep up with him. Tonight was a mistake.

Amazon 4 Star review: Loved the heat
This book was a great combination of suspense to rival Patterson and passion to rival fifty shades, without the whips! Can't wait for the next one!

Amazon 5 Star review: Just the right novel to travel with!
This book is simply my favorite. The characters are strong, well-developed and the chemistry between them keeps the readers on fire. The author did a really good job with the story line and the combination of suspense, romance, tragedy and happy-ending all in one book is really what made me give a 5-star.

One last thing before we let you leave us today, do you have a favorite recipe you'd like to share?  I like to cook and am always looking for new recipes to try and share !
Here's one that came from a friend who watches her weight. It will please the rest of the family too. It's so easy and fun to make. It fizzes up and my granddaughter had a blast stirring it together. It's delicious.
1 box of angel food cake mix1 20 ounce can of crushed pineapple
Stir the two together! That's it!
Pour into a greased 9x11 pan and bake at 375 for around 25 minutes. Top each slice with a dollop of Cool Whip.

Trust me...this is good eating.
*     *     *     *     *     *     Oh Jerrie, that sounds delicious and fun.  I'm sure my kids will love making it !
