A Big Threat Emerges in Latest GODZILLA x KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE TrailerMichael Rosenbaum Is Still Thinking About That Smallville Animated Series

The Smallville animated series isn’t dead yet. Michael Rosenbaum recently revealed the following to Screen Rant:
All I could share is that it’s a great idea. We have Al and Miles, the creators of Smallville backing us up. When it’s the right time, we’d like to go and do this; pitch to Warner Bros. It has to be the right time, and right now is not the right time. We had the strike, we had a change of executives at DC — one being one of my best friends in the world, James Gunn. When the time’s right, I think it’s something that’s a no brainer, unless they have other ideas. We’d like to do it — the whole cast would like to do it. They would voice their own character from the show, and we have a concept of what the show is.
Fingers crossed!
Rosenbaum also recently spoke to the DCU’s newest Lex Luthor, Nicholas Hoult.

X-MEN ’97 Producer Hints at Crossover with Other ’90s Marvel Animated Characters
X-Men ’97 on Disney+ has been a hit with both fans and critics, restoring Marvel’s mutants to their proper place in the pop culture pantheon. Although the show’s first two episodes have focused solely on the X-Men, there have been tiny hints of other Marvel heroes for the eagle-eyed viewer. Episode one displayed a Daily Bugle paper with a mention of Spider-Man for example. Speaking of Spidey, could we actually see the wallcrawler show up in X-Men ’97? According to a Screen Rant interview with X-Men ‘97 executive producer Brad Winderbaum, he dropped the following nugget of information when asked about other non-mutant Marvel characters appearing. And it sounds promising.
X-Men ’97 fits directly into the continuity of the 90s animated shows, and as you know, there were some awesome crossovers, most notably with Spider Man[: The Animated Series.] I will say that if you remember the awesome cameos from the original show, you’re going to be happy in X-Men ’97, without going into spoiler territory. It’s an exciting timeline to explore that ’90s world!

It sounds like there is definitely some kind of crossover in the works with the greater Marvel animated universe. Of course, this may occur in season two, which is well into production already. Technically, eight ’90s animated series take place in the same continuity as X-Men. These include Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, and more. Although, the most notable crossover was with Spider-Man: The Animated Series, where the X-Men appear in a two-part episode. (It helped that both series were on the same network). Spider-Man ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. It would be fascinating if they resolved that storyline 25 years later in an X-Men series. Thanks to his popularity, we imagine Iron Man is a candidate too. We’ll find out as X-Men ’97 continues to unfold.

STRANGER THINGS 5 BTS Photos Tease Will Byers Meeting His Younger Self
It feels like Stranger Things has been a phenomenon for as long as we can remember. But now, our favorite party is all grown up, and the time has come for the series’ last chapter. Stranger Things 5 will be the Netflix hit’s final season, but we have no doubt that these concluding episodes will have a ton of meat on their bones.
As Stranger Things 5 continues to film, fans are being treated to some fun tidbits from the show’s creators. Ross Duffer recently shared a couple of photos featuring Will Byers. Of note, Will no longer has his infamous bowl cut. But also, it looks like Will will meet his younger self in the season. Very interesting.
For now, let’s roll for initiative and head back to Hawkins one more time. Here’s everything we know about Stranger Things 5.
Stranger Things 5‘s Plot
Stranger Things 4 ended with a bang as the Upside Down erupted right into the middle of Hawkins. Although everyone came together to try to stop Vecna, the villainous monster, who is actually One, who is actually Henry Creel, succeeded in merging his evil world with the reality every day people inhabit. The party managed to injure Vecna and seemingly save Max from his clutches. However, the fallout remained apocalyptic. In the final moments of the season, the Upside Down’s ash arrives to cover everything, and a full-out war with the monstrous creatures of the dark world seems imminent.

While we don’t know much about Stranger Things 5 yet, we assume it will have just a little to do with how Stranger Things 4 ended. The Duffer brothers haven’t provided many plot specifics but have offered several teases about Stranger Things 5. Among other bits, they shared that the action will remain centered in Hawkins and that likely we’ll see an eight-episode season. Additionally, the Duffers have noted that Will Byers will take a central role in the final season.
Finally, the series’ creators describe Stranger Things 5 as follows, “Five, the way we see it, is kind of a culmination of all the seasons, so it’s sort of got a little bit from each… Whereas before, each season was so [distinct]… [Season] 3 is our big summer blockbuster season with big monsters, and [Season] 4 was the psychological horror. Five, the way we see it, is kind of a culmination of all the seasons, so it’s sort of got a little bit from each. I think that what we’re trying to do is go back to the beginning a little bit, in sort of the tone of 1.” Or, “Season 5 is like if season 1 and 4 had a baby. And then that baby was injected with steroids.” Make of that what you will.
Behind the ScenesOf course, the Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross Duffer, will once again take the helm of Stranger Things 5. Additionally, long-time Stranger Things director Shawn Levy will return to direct at least one episode of the season. Superstitiously, the Deadpool 3 director likes to take on episodes three and four if he can.
Stranger Things 5‘s Cast
All our favorite characters and actors will be back for Stranger Things 5. We know for sure that Joyce Byers, Jim Hopper, Mike Wheeler, Nancy Wheeler, Jonathan Byers, Eleven, Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson, Will Byers, Karen Wheeler, Stever Harrington, Robin Buckley, and Murray Bauman will be back. (And with them, their respective actors.) Sadie Sink’s Max survived season four and should return with the rest. We, of course, are still holding the torch for the surprise resurrection of Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson. Stranger Things takes place in a supernatural world, after all. And it just wouldn’t be a good season without one Erica Sinclair.

When it comes to new faces, we know that Linda Hamilton has joined the cast of Stranger Things 5. But her role remains a secret for now.
Stranger Things 5‘s Release Date
Stranger Things 5 does not yet have a release date, but it will not arrive in 2024.

THE WHEEL OF TIME Season 3 Has Finished Filming
The Wheel of Time only recently wrapped season two. The exciting finale took fans further into Robert Jordan’s fantasy book series of the same name. And the story will continue in season three, which Prime Video greenlit in summer 2022. While we don’t know a ton about what’s ahead, The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins has teased some information.
Recently, Prime Video revealed that The Wheel of Time season three has finished filming. That definitely brings us one step closer to seeing more from the incredible series. Take a look at the cast video celebrating the wrap below. As they say, it’s going to be big.
Thank the Light, we’re done filming Season 3. pic.twitter.com/U7fOKuxIY4
— The Wheel Of Time (@TheWheelOfTime) March 22, 2024
Here’s everything we know about season three of The Wheel of Time so far.
The Wheel of Time Season 3’s Plot
The Wheel of Time season three will pull mostly from The Shadow Rising, book four of the series. Judkins appeared at New York Comic Con in October 2023 mentioning that and also that the season will bring in elements from book five, The Fires of Heaven, too. Judkins noted the season will have more Forsaken and an exploration of Dreamwalking, which we saw a little of in season two. Additionally, the next season will focus more on Rand or Perrin.
Judkins said, “Every season, we sit down in the writers room and one of the things that we do at the very beginning is pick out a couple of the stories that we have to carve out a space to make a whole episode for. We think it’s worth it because those stories will really stand out to an audience, especially that didn’t read the books. They’re given that time, and it’s carved out, so they can really follow that character on that journey.”
Season three will return to the Two Rivers, visit the Aiel Waste and Rhuidean, and go to Tanchicho and bring in the Sea Folk.

Prime Video hasn’t officially shared a director list or anything for season three of The Wheel of Time. We know the season has been filming for months. Executive producer Marigo Kehoe told The Hollywood Reporter they had scripts in place before they began filming, so the WGA strike didn’t cause delays. The cast is on Equity contracts rather than SAG-AFTRA, so that strike hasn’t pushed production either.
It sounds like season three will have eight episodes, following seasons one and two.
The Wheel of Time Season 3’s CastThe cast for The Wheel of Time season three hasn’t been confirmed yet. We expect to see all existing characters return, obviously. Even if someone has died in the series, you shouldn’t count them out. We expect to see some new faces from the books, too, including Elaida, an Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah. Judkins has also said we’ll see more members of the Forsaken. He said, “I can confirm that we have cast and put on set a Forsaken you have not seen in the show as of yet.”

The Wheel of Time season three doesn’t have a release date yet.

DOCTOR WHO Drops Season 1 Trailer with Disney+ Budget Thrills
Doctor Who season 1 (NOT series 14) will give us a full slate of adventures with Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson. It feels like forever since we saw the pair take on their first Earthly adventure in the 2023 Christmas special “The Church on Ruby Road.” After running into musical goblins and some time traveling magic, the pair were off for great adventures in the TARDIS. A previous teaser gave us a glimpse into all the upcoming action, but now we have a full trailer for Doctor Who season 1 with lots of Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday goodness. We are so glad that the Disney+ premiere date for the next Doctor Who season is almost here!
The Doctor Who trailer takes us into a few of Fifteen and Ruby’s really wacky adventures. There’s everything from dinosaurs to a lizard Ruby to a trip to the Regency era past. I truly love the “Oh my Bridgerton!” line from Ruby. Things start off very whimsical before they get a bit darker in spots, including a scene where Ruby weeps over a destroyed London. The Doctor also hits some level of frustration as he screams into the space void from the threshold of his TARDIS. Speaking of that fabulous vessel, I’m a little terrified at how its abandoned look towards the end of the clip.

We get a couple of glimpses of Jinkx Monsoon as the latest Doctor Who villain, but not much to chew on there. All in all, this is a great glimpse into the fun that’s coming.
Sidenote: Ruby and Fifteen are so fly and I want to be the third person in the TARDIS. Please, please come take me away from Earth. It’s very ghetto here.
What Is the Premiere Date for Doctor Who season 1?
Doctor Who season 1 will bring Fifteen and Ruby to our screens on May 10. We will get the first two episodes on that date at 4PM PT/ 7PM ET. US fans can catch new episodes on Disney+.

Max’s THE PENGUIN Series Sets Fall 2024 Release Window
The universe of Matt Reeves’ The Batman is expanding exponentially. Separate from the DCU involving the other DC heroes, Reeves’ world is hyper gritty, and focused solely on the world of Gotham City. And the first project of this new The Batman-verse is a Max (formerly HBO Max) series focusing on Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, a.k.a. the Penguin.
While we don’t have an exact release date for The Penguin series yet, The Batman spinoff show has set a release window. Max has confirmed that The Penguin will release in fall of 2024.

Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming The Penguin series centered on the so-called criminal King of Gotham, once again played by Colin Farrell.
TitleThe title of the series is simply The Penguin.
The Penguin‘s Plot
Based on early statements, it seems the plot of the series focuses on Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot as he rises in the ranks of Gotham’s underworld, and becomes a power player. It will take place in the aftermath of the flooding of Gotham City, as seen in the final act of The Batman. Here’s what producer Matt Reeves had to say about the show’s premise:
Colin exploded off the screen as the Penguin in The Batman. Having the chance to thoroughly explore the inner life of that character on HBO Max is an absolute thrill. Dylan and I are so excited to work with Lauren in continuing Oz’s story as he grabs violently for power in Gotham.
The series will have eight episodes.
Behind the ScenesLauren LeFranc will write the script for the series and serve as showrunner. The Batman director Matt Reeves and producer Dylan Clark will serve as executive producers, along with star Colin Farrell. Reeves won’t be directing, at least not early on. Directing an early episode is Craig Zobel.
The Penguin‘s Cast
In the title role is the returning Colin Farrell. Also in the cast is Cristin Milioti as the female lead of the show, Sofia Falcone.
In addition, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Zegen, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, David H. Holmes, and Theo Rossi will also appear.
Most recently, we learned that Clancy Brown has joined the cast as Salvatore Maroni. Worth noting, in the comics, Maroni was responsible for throwing acid at Harvey Dent. This, of course, led Dent to become Two-Face. This could be an interesting way to bring the iconic villain into The Batman‘s world.

The Penguin will officially come to Max sometime in fall of 2024.

Anthony Mackie Seems to Confirm Bucky Barnes Won’t Be In CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD
Steve Rogers is either dead or a very old man, but the world still needs Captain America. Fortunately for Earth, someone just as worthy of that title as Steve took on the job. No, not John Walker. (Definitely not John Walker.) On The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson finally accepted the mantle his friend tried to give him at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Now Anthony Mackie is ready to lead the superhero franchise into the future with the MCU’s fourth standalone Captain America film.

A question on everyone’s mind going into Captain America: Brave New World is whether Sam Wilson’s partner in crime, Bucky Barnes, will appear in the movie. After all, the pair has had quite a few adventures together so far in the MCU. But Anthony Mackie recently shared, “The Falcon and [the] Winter Soldier, I really enjoyed doing that show. I was actually excited to do a second season, just so me and Sebastian [Stan] can get paid to hang out. Because it’s like me, him and Daniel Brühl. It’s kind of like the perfect storm of happiness. When they decided to go back to the movies, it is what it is, but I don’t have my friends anymore, so it kind of dampens it a little bit. Anything I can do to hang out with Daniel, a dancing Daniel Brühl, makes me very happy.”
That certainly makes it sound like Mackie and Stan are not hanging out on the set of Captain America 4, much to the sadness of Mackie and fans everywhere. But, in the MCU, anything is possible. And if not in Brave New World, we’re sure we’ll see the duo reunite sooner or later.
Here’s everything we know about Captain America: Brave New World.
TitleMarvel first announced Captain America 4‘s official title as part of its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. It was originally called Captain America: New World Order. But in June 2023, Marvel changed the movie’s name. It is now called Captain America: Brave New World.
Captain America: Brave New World‘s PlotMarvel has yet to reveal many details about the film. Thus far, the title is our best clue about the film’s plot. It echoes both the main conflict of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Aldous Huxley’s dystopian classic. Marvel executives have shared some tasty breadcrumbs, though.
That began with Nate Moore, VP of Production & Development at Marvel Studios, talking about how Harrison Ford will replace the late William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Brave New World. In an interview, Moore said:
Behind the ScenesWell, look, Sam Wilson’s Captain America, he is going to bring his own team to play. It’s no secret that Samuel Sterns is making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is fantastic because Tim Blake Nelson’s the best. Harrison Ford is taking on the role of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and to see Sam Wilson and Thunderbolt Ross, which if you remember actually threw him in prison at the end of Civil War because he violated the Sokovia Accords. There’s going to be some natural sparks there, which I think are going to be really fun.
Malcolm Spellman (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and Dalan Musson are co-writing the film. Matthew Orton will also contribute to the writing. Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) is set to direct.
Ca ptain America: Brave New World‘s Cast
In addition to Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier‘s Carl Lumbly will return as Isaiah Bradley. As will Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres.
Additionally, Brave New World will bring back Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson) from The Incredible Hulk. Sterns, of course, is also known as The Leader. He will likely act as the film’s villain. Shira Haas will join the film as Sabra. Xosha Roquemore has joined the movie in an unknown role, and WWE wrestler Seth Rollins was spotted in costume on set.
Another original MCU star will also return after a long absence, too. Liv Tyler will reprise her role as Betty Ross. She originated the role in The Incredible Hulk.

Captain America: Brave New World will fly into theaters on February 14, 2025.

Colin Farrell Begins His Rise to Power in THE PENGUIN Trailer
Warner Bros. Pictures recently shared bad news for fans of Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne. It has delayed Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel for another year. It won’t arrive in theaters until 2026. How can admirers of the Caped Crusader survive the wait? By spending it with Gotham’s new criminal kingpin. Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot is getting his own spinoff series at Max, and The Penguin‘s first trailer is a violent look at how he’ll establish his own underworld empire in Batman’s backyard.
Colin Farrell is back with a whole lot of makeup and bravado as one of the Dark Knight’s most iconic villains. But in Matt Reeves’ cinematic universe, the Penguin is not yet the powerful figure we know him as. As we see in this trailer for The Penguin, that’s about to change. With the death of Carmine Falcone, Gotham’s sinister underworld has a big void. This trailer is the first step in Oswald Cobblepot’s plan to be the man who fills it.
In addition to Farrell’s memorable, intimidating, and hilarious villain, the show also stars Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, and Michael Zegen. We see glimpses of them in The Penguin‘s teaser trailer but we’re excited to see more.
The series comes from creator, writer, and showrunner Lauren LeFranc. She also serves as an executive producer on the show along with Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, Craig Zobel, and Bill Carraro. Zobel also directs the first three episodes of the eight-episode season.

Batman comic book fans will also recognize another powerful mob boss referenced in this trailer for The Penguin. “Oz Cobb” mentions an old-school gangster from his neighborhood, Rex Calabrese. While that’s a fun Easter egg (at least), it’s also a reminder of just how long Gotham has dealt with corruption. Every generation has its own underworld figures who rule the streets. Now The Penguin will show us how this era got its own when it debuts at Max this fall.

Citizen’s Dark Side STAR WARS Watches Keep You Marching on Time
If you’re a part of Star Wars‘ Galactic Empire, we imagine there’s a lot to do. There are red lightsabers to polish, meetings you don’t want to be late to with various Darths, and a lot of menacing and marching that needs to happen across the galaxy. To keep your Imperial March on schedule, Citizen Watch has a whole host of dark side timepieces that will not only help ensure you don’t keep Darth Vader waiting, but will let you tell time in high style that will make you the envy of everyone near, far, and far, far, away. The latest watch to join Citizen’s Star Wars collection is the Imperial Stormtrooper watch. And let me tell you, stormtrooping has never seemed cooler.

Stormtroopers don’t really get to accessorize their uniforms, at least not that we see. But we bet if Darth Vader got a look at this new Star Wars Imperial Stormtrooper watch from Citizen, he would bend this en-force-d rule just a little. Who wouldn’t want their armies to march forward wearing this stylish piece?

The official page for the product shares, “The fearsome power of the Galactic Empire’s elite shock troops is commandingly expressed in the new STAR WARS™ | Citizen Imperial Stormtrooper watch. The dial features three iconic white “buckethead” helmets on a deep black background overlaid with a grid pattern that creates a 3D effect. A special Star Wars inspired font was created for the numeric markers, which are luminous, along with the hands and helmets.”

Translation: this Star Wars Citizen watch is just plain cool. We love the 3D effect in the background, which makes us feel like we’re about to jump through hyperspace. And let me tell you, “luminous” does not even begin to cover the cool glow-in-the-dark special effect the watch creates. It’s like having a little Star Wars movie on your wrist. We can’t quite summon pillars of light into our hands like Jedi yet, but being able to manifest a little glow gives us some of that thrill.
Other Dark Side Star Wars Watches From Citizen: Death Star, Darth Maul, and MoreOf course, stormtroopers aren’t the only members of the dark side who want to help you tell the time. Citizen has some of the most iconic figures from Star Wars ready to grace your wrist. We all know the dark side has more fun and look the coolest. In addition to the new Imperial Stormtroopers watch, you can also check out Citizen’s Death Star 2, Duel, Darth Maul, and not one but two Darth Vader watches. Each Star Wars watch features a different engraved back, which contains a fun image or quote. And some of them have their own unique glows. These little details really make the watches feel carefully designed for Star Wars fans. (And, okay, okay, if these aren’t the watches you were looking for, there are also light side Star Wars watches on Citizen’s page.)

The new Imperial Stormtrooper watch from Citizen is a part of a greater Star Wars effort to help us all “March to May the 4th.” This year, the villains are taking center stage. (But also, blue milk is involved.) But you can’t march if you’re not on time, so strap on your dark side watch and let’s go.

STAR TREK: SECTION 31 Wraps Filming
Cameras have begun rolling on Star Trek: Section 31, starring Oscar Winner Michelle Yeoh. She will reprise the role of Emperor Philippa Georgiou in the film, a character introduced in Star Trek: Discovery season one. Yeoh first played Captain Philippa Georgiou in the first part of Discovery, a decorated Starfleet Captain who died in the pilot episode. She then portrayed the version of that character from the darker Mirror Universe for much longer. Now stranded in the mainline Star Trek universe, she began working for the mysterious Federation spy cabal Section 31.
Although we don’t yet have a release date for Star Trek: Section 31, the movie has now wrapped filming. Cast member Robert Kazinsky revealed the news on his Instagram. Hopefully that means we’ll see movement on the film sooner rather than later.

Here’s everything we know about Star Trek: Section 31 so far.
Title
Although many refer to it as simply Section 31, the proper title is, of course, Star Trek: Section 31.
Star Trek: Section 31’s Plot
Although originally planned as a series, it has since morphed into a film for the Paramount+ streaming service. The plot for Section 31 is unknown at this time. All we know is that it’s likely set in the same timeframe as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This would be some time after Discovery season two, and still several years before the events of the original series. At the end of Discovery season two, Phillipa Georgiou was sent to the far future with the Discovery crew. Not long after, the powerful Guardian of Forever sent her back to when she left. This leaves room for her Section 31 story to take place in that time period. The official description is as follows” “Tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, [Georgiou] also must face the sins of her past.”

The franchise introduced Section 31 as a concept in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. They were an organization so secret, they were not an official part of the Federation or Starfleet. However, they acted on their behalf. Many in Starfleet saw Section 31 and their covert and often immoral ways as against what the Federation stood for. They attempted genocide on the shapeshifting Changeling race behind the Dominion during the later seasons of DS9. In Discovery, we learn they were more of an official part of Starfleet a century before the events of DS9. Perhaps the Section 31 movie will reconcile how this covert group went from a known part of Federation intelligence to something of a galactic myth a century later.
Behind-The-ScenesOlatunde Osunsanmi will direct and executive produce the film, with Craig Sweeny serving as writer and executive producer. Alex Kurtzman and his production company Secret Hideout, which is behind modern Star Trek shows like Discovery, Picard, and Strange New Worlds, is also behind Section 31.
Star Trek: Section 31’s Cast
Aside from Michelle Yeoh, also in the cast are Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez, and James Hiroyuki Liao. No word yet on any known Star Trek franchise actors from Discovery or Strange New Worlds, but we expect to see at least some of them.
Star Trek: Section 31 Release DateThere’s no release date yet for Star Trek: Section 31, but we expect it no earlier than late 2025.
