Where Do You Get Your Ideas
If you’re a writer the odds are pretty good that you’ve gotten the following question asked of you: where do you get your ideas? Honestly, there is simply no real answer to the question. Ideas are like dandelion seeds in the wind: elusive and beautiful and multitudinous. They are many, from many different places. All [...]

Here a Horror, There a Horror
HORROR WRITERS I FOLLOW AND WHY Over the years there have been multiple scores of writers who I have read and admired. It used to be that I would traipse into the local book store and scan the aisles for a familiar name in whatever genre I was interested in that week. (Yes, I said [...]

F5 – Fave Five Offbeat Films
I really love *offbeat* films – films that do not necessarily fall into any strictly common category. An offbeat film, to me, is a film that has a story told in a strange or asynchronous manner. Or, a better definition would be a strange or asynchronous story told through film. Difficult to nail it down, [...]

WWp – How Do You Use Your Website?
One of the things that a modern author simply can not do without is a decent website. It is their online face to the world and it can hold the key to success or ridicule. Happily, it’s ever so simple to create a decent website these days. With the advent of Blogger, Moveable Type and Wordpress, it can be as simple as selecting a template and GO!
For someone as wishy-washy (and creative, mind you) as myself, this ease of separation of content from appearance can be a dangerous thing. I’ve a tendency to change the face of my site on a whim. (I have been working diligently to tame that insane tendency, however.)
Someone asked me the other day what I used my website for, and I admit I was dumbfounded for a few seconds. What the hell AM I using it for?

MMs – The Cabin In The Woods
Today’s the start of a new posting schedule for me, here at the site. I decided I need a little more organization in my life of writing. What Is Beauty? How do you write it?
Before I get started, let me state upfront that I fully expect to get some flack for this post. But, that's okay. Let's open this up for debate. I was chatting with a friend of mine the other day and I was reminded of so many conversations I and my buddies used to have when I [...]

Top Ten Software for Writers
What's the difference between Notepad and TextWrangler? Ever try Bean? For writers, when you start talking about the software we use, you open up a big old can of worms, let me tell you. Everyone is different. Everyone has their own style, their own preferences of how to do things (plotters vs. pantsers, anyone?). And, [...]

Let's Talk Anti-Heroine
So, I was lucky enough to sit in and watch Felicia Day, John Scalzi, Amber Benson and Pat Rothfuss discuss novel writing and such via a G+ Live Chat/Hangout today, courtesy of Geek And Sundry. And, it brought to attention a little issue that I've been struggling with for the past couple of months. I am [...]
