April Is For #Vampires: The Lost Boys & A Guest Post by Megg Jensen

I was only 9 when The Lost Boys came out, but I managed to catch it many times throughout my junior high years. For some reason I remember watching it on TV many, many times. It starred Corey Feldman AND Corey Haim, who were my Teen Beat dreamboys at the time. This movie did a great job scaring the bejeezus out of me. And who could forget Jason Patric floating outside the window. That was EPIC!

April Is For #Vampires: Twilight

Okay, so we all knew it would have to be discussed at some point. Twilight is by far the biggest vampire franchise in the last decade, and I do respect that. I'm certainly not meaning this as a slam to Stephenie Meyer or any Twilight fans. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan. In all fairness, I did read all four of the Twilight novels. I just really hated Bella. I thought she was annoying and whiny.

April Is For #Vampires: Fantasy Vamps

Fantasy vampires would be any of your favorite actors that you'd love to see take on a vampire role. Personally, I would love to see both of the following actors take up vampire roles at some point in the future! Now I haven't seen the Tourist, but I hear it wasn't great...so maybe they shouldn't star in the film together...mabye I'll just have to create roles for them if I ever write a Bloody

April Is For #Vampires: From Dusk Till Dawn

Wow, if ANY vampire movie is my favorite, I really have to say that From Dusk Till Dawn, which came out in 1996, is at the top of my list. This really had it all. Directed by Robert Rodriguez, written by and starring Quentin Tarantino, as well as George Clooney, Cheech Marin, Salma Hayek, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, and Danny Trejo. I'm a huge Tarantino fan and this movie added all of my

April Is For #Vampires: The House of Night Series by PC and Kristin Cast

I started reading the House of Night series last year and I've read all the way through book #7. I was really excited about this series and was really hooked until book #7. The characters, the plot are all excellent and it's very fast-paced. I enjoy the Casts' (PC is the mom, Kristin the daughter) take on the vampire world. It's got a Hogwarts kind of vibe, with the students living at the

April Is For #Vampires: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

When Buffy came out in the summer of 1992, I was just about to start high school. It was the first movie I saw with both horror and comedy elements, which probably account for my taste for such films (one of my favorites being Shaun of the Dead, but I couldn't include that because sadly, there are no vampires!). I was also a big fan of Kristy Swanson and thought this film was awesome! And Pee Wee

April Is For #Vampires: Vampire Diaries

When it comes to Vampire Diaries, the TV show, I am a complete and total fangirl. It is hands-down my favorite thing on TV. I cannot get enough of this show! I'm always looking forward to the next episode. I really think the writers on this show are amazing and they manage to make every show exciting and surprising. The characters are all quite lovable, whether they're just hanging out or ripping

April Is For #Vampires: Vampire Weekend

Okay, okay, so Vampire Weekend doesn't really have anything to do with vampires, aside from the name. But every time I think of the band or hear the songs, I think of vamps and I totally dig their tunes, so here are a few I'd like to share with you!

April Is For #Vampires: Dracula: Dead and Loving It

I love parodies, at least well done ones. And my favorites always seem to be those done by the great Mel Brooks. I was so excited in high school (1995) when Mel Brooks finally put his stamp on vampires. In addition to that, it also starred one of my favorite comedians...Mr. Leslie Nielsen of Airplane and Naked Gun fame. While it's probably not the most critically acclaimed movie, I definitely
