Now for my review:
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great short story! The author does an amazing job (especially considering this is a short story) of making the heroine relatable and the villain rotten. By the time you get to the end, you are craving what awaits the scoundrel. The sexual build up was titillating and the twist at the end caught me by surprise.  This story packs a punch and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thank goodness the Celts celebrated the end of the year with the festival of Samhain, or we wouldn’t have Halloween.  You see, the Celts believed that the ghosts of the dead walked the earth on the night of Samhain, so they lit bonfires and wore costumes to ward off the roaming ghouls.  In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1st as a time to honor all saints and martyrs; the holiday, All Saints Day, incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before became known as All Hallows’ Eve and later became Halloween. Eventually Halloween evolved into the community-based, spectacular event it is today with child-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating and attending parties becoming the norm. 

I LOVE Halloween! It is my favorite holiday. It’s all the fun of Christmas without the expense. No really, think about it. You can dress up, go to parties, eat lots of goodies, visit with friends and family, even decorate your home with spooktacular items, but there are no presents to buy. And the best part about Halloween is that you can stop cleaning your house, allow the dust and spider webs to accumulate, then call them decorations. ;)

So it isn't any wonder that I also love monsters. Werewolves, zombies, ghosts-it doesn't matter. If it's been in a horror movie, I love it. That's why I write paranormal romance. My vampires are my inner fantasies brought to life on the pages.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered, not sure why. It wasn’t like it was her fault.

His chin tilted in her direction. Shadows played chase across that beautifully defined lines of his face from the kitchen lights breaking through the windows. They glimmered off the velvety surface of his breathtaking eyes and collected in dark pools in the hollows of his cheeks and temples. She stared hypnotized as he studied her.

“What are you doing, Addy?”

Having not been doing anything, Addy gave a start at the gruff demand. Her thought scattered as she tried to think.

“I’m not—”

Surprisingly warm fingers cut through the space between them and ghosted lightly along the side of her cheek. The feather light caress rocked her all the way to her toes.

“Toby…”

The light shifted and she could just make out the slow curl of his lips. “You just can’t seem to make up your mind which one to call me, can you?” The fingers drifted back and curled around the nape of her neck. She was dragged to him and positioned with her hips cradled between hard thighs. “If it makes any difference, the way you breathe my name, the way you say it with just a hint of pleading, makes me all kinds of crazy with the need to devour you.”

Shit.

His fingers tightened in her hair, locking her in place, helpless to do anything more than allow it when he pulled her closer. Her hands flew to his shoulders.

“Kiss me, Addy.”

She should have said no. Commonsense demanded it. Logic and rationality insisted. But his mouth was right there, a delicious, taunting sin begging her for just one taste.

Her fingers curled into the material of his sweater, gripping him like a life preserver even as he was the one pulling her under. Her body dipped into his, no longer under her control. His heady scent of man, soap, and cheesecake consumed what little sense she had remaining.

She kissed him.

Meet Becca Layne.
You might already know me as Paloma Beck. I've been writing erotic romance since 2012. But now I'm publishing new adult romance under a new pen name... Becca Layne. Actually, this is closer to my “real” name, Rebecca.

I’m excited to introduce some younger characters to readers. With a masters degree in higher education administration, I get to use my in-depth study of college-aged students in my writing.
