Night at the museum ~ The Denver Art Museum is honoring our family with “Weaving a Foundation: Cornerstones of the Textile Arts Collection.” The exhibit celebrates the legacy and forward thinking philosophy of collecting that was established by my grandfather, Eric Douglas, first curator of the museum’s Native Arts Department. He is the focus of my book “Poppy: A Novel About A Colorful Colorado Life.”
http://bit.ly/3FXa1Zd I’m proud to say his influence continues to inform Denver Art Museum practices today. Two thirds of the objects now on view in the exhibit have never been shown. We are indebted to all the staff who put this together, but especially to Jill D’Alessandro, Director and Curator of the Avenue Institute of Textile Arts and Fashion. Come see it!
