Designing your antagonist: The 8Ps model to character design

I think that writing your protagonist can be very difficult but rather rewarding. However, very little attention is paid to the antagonist in many crime thrillers and mysteries. The antagonist merely forms a tool to vector the protagonist to solve the case. Really good crime stories develop antagonists as real individuals as well, and they should be as developed as the lead character.
