eBook VAT & What This Means for Selling Direct (Brace Yourself)
Following on from my earlier post, I posted a question on Kindleboards about direct selling and the question of tax came up. That small question prompts a big answer. This is tax we're talking about. It's a tricky subject and I was steering clear of posting anything about it, however, I am willing to outline my own circumstances to add clarity for purposes of selling direct and my experiences

The 100% Royalty Rate
I recently gave my website a massive overhaul, and have been streamlining. There are still a few kinks to work out, but it's getting there.
There is a minimized and floating red tab in the top left hand corner that says "Buy eBooks". I added my own eStore where you can buy my eBooks (DRM free) and sideload them onto your eReader. In this post that is what I want to focus on, a high level and

*blinks* Demon Dark Release!
$3.99
Demon Dark was released yesterday. It's up on Smashwords, Kindle, and available from my eStore now for $3.99.
Distribution to iBooks and Nook will take up to a month once Smashwords approves it, but I honestly can't wait, as I know the main body of my readership are in those two places.
*happy dance*
The cover got a rework as the previous green tint was too cheerful, and this book has

Sideload (Your Legally Purchased eBooks) Onto Kindle/Nook
A few emails have shown me people are not sure how to Sideload eBooks! You need to be able to do so if you shop Smashwords or my eStore. I've summarized the process into five easy steps (and found some insightful YouTube videos): Sideload
Once you've done this process from start to finish once, and are used to it, you can literally do this in minutes. I have added a version of these instructions

Letter To My Readers....
An update for you all on a few things.
Demon Dark….
Book Three of the Rae Wilder novels (Demon Dark) is delayed by a month.
The delay came because I quit my job in June, thinking I had enough time to sort everything out that I needed to by September. However, I ended up agreeing to work in my old job for an additional 3 months. I tried to cram everything "bookish" outside my normal working hours

Wondering About Your iBook Chart Positions Across Territories?
Was told about a super cool site this morning by Lisa Scott via KB (http://bookchart.info/).
It drove me crazy that I could not see how I was doing on iBooks across territories (sure I'm not the only one), as I love iBooks, it's the number one eStore and buying/eReading experience of my choice, and to do well there (regardless of sales figures) is a huge personal aspiration of mine. Now I can

Raro! Espeluznante! Extraño! La Piel Que Habito.
Warning: Contains Major Spoilers and May Disturb. 15+.
La Piel Que Habito (The Skin I Live In). Cool, clean, textured *lusty sigh*. This film is stunning, and aesthetically pleasing. Sinister throughout the music is quite lovely, it reminded me of the Psycho film score at some points.
There is a doctor ... a bit crazy in the eyes but we can forgive him that. After all, he is a debonair Antonio

Indies Kick Ass on iBooks UK
I want to highlight how many indies are rocking the iBooks UK charts at the moment.
This is the Featured SciFi section, but you can see a substantial amount of indie titles in most of the categories, and if you actually click on the Top 100 charts it is amazing how strong the indie presence is.
I wonder what it looks like in US, CA and AU.
Those I have highlighted in yellow boxes are indie

Die, My Love Release
A Hair Raising Review:"I liked what I DID read, but not enough to finish it. I've read all of Penelope's other books and I knew I'd love this, but I didn't. How the book was told was really boring, I understand that it was her thoughts and that's fine, but I'd like some more dialogue. It was driving me INSANE after the second chapter but I pushed on when I was about 50% done I really just

Author Interview with Sibel Hodge
I have a lovely, bubbly guest for you today. Her name is Sibel Hodge, and she's a chick lit romance author. If you dip into any Indie forums online, or have blog wanderlust then you've probably already seen or heard of at least one of Sibel's highly praised books.
