Tumblr
I deleted my Tumblr account. Going to redo it soon. Thought I should split it into two - one for art and one for following stuff as it happens. Or something. It seems like a good idea this morning. No reason to be alarmed. If you want on my general or art tumblrs as they coalesce into being, let me know.

WE MADE IT! WE'RE PAYING PRO RATES! (And now the next phase)

WE DID IT! CLOCKWORK PHOENIX WILL PAY PRO RATES. AND NOW OUR NEXT GOAL: A NEW WEBZINE FOR POETRY AND FICTION. TARGET: $10,000.
Thank you all so much! We're overwhelmed.
The next volume of Clockwork Phoenix will pay 5 cents a word for fiction. Again, thank you.
So, we're here. Earlier than expected. And I think there's time to try for something more. I've mentioned before that one of our stretch goals could be creating a new webzine for showcasing poetry and fiction. This is something we've wanted to do for years but completely lacked the resources.
But now, I think we could make it happen.
If this Kickstarter can reach $10,000, that should leave us with enough to fund 12 issues of a new Internet magazine. Each issue will hold one story (word limit 4,000 at 2 cents a word) and two poems ($5 each.) In essence, it will be a continuation of the MYTHIC anthologies we used to produce (that published stories like Cherie Priest's "The Immigrant.")
If we hit that goal, we'll launch in 2013.
I can't think of what else to say other than to repeat, again: Thank you!

Three things:
With seven days left, my Kickstarter for Clockwork Phoenix 4 has passed $7,400. Past $8,000, I can commit to paying 5 cents a word — the first time I've ever been able to offer pro rates for one of my projects. We have one week left.
1a.) If we actually hit that goal with days to spare, then I've got something new in mind. I've wanted to try creating my own web-only market for poetry and fiction for a long, long time but haven't had the resources. Now maybe it's finally possible. We'll see how it plays out.
2) Mythic Delirium reopens to submissions today for Issue 28. We'll be open through Oct. 1. Guidelines are here.
3) I'm proud to report that I've sold a poem, "Machine Guns Loaded With Pomegranate Seeds," to Strange Horizons poetry editor Sonya Taaffe (
sovay
). It's a poem that at last expresses (in verse) my take on Persephone poems.

Submissions Don't Matter
"Hermaion" is back out the door.
Going to try another draft on "Archer's Mirror" and get that in the water this week, too.

Readercon
(ETA: confused the Concom and the Board. Thanks to
sovay
and
shadesong
for pointing me in the right direction) Just got back from camping, getting my feet under me, bone weary from the nephews and N. K. Jemisin keeping me up until 4 Saturday Morning (and making my cry. Por Sieh!).
It's my understanding that someone sexually harassed someone else during Readercon (I am aware of more than that, but I won't rehash here), and that the written policies on hand state that sexual harassment is grounds for a lifetime ban from the convention (is this correct? If I am mistaken, please let me know), but that the Board Concom has voted to not apply the policies as written in this case.
Says
sovay
:
The board of directors voted for the two-year suspension. The board is not the concom, although there is a small overlap of members; I believe everyone who wasn't on the board found out after the fact. I certainly did. Rose has called for the concom to override the board, which is what I want: it is the only way Readercon will retain any credibility or integrity. I feel strongly about this subject for a number of reasons.
If this is all correct, then they have left me with a decision that is easy to make and difficult to live with. This is their doing. This is the doing of the harasser, who shall go nameless here. I know that
rosefox
has called for a vote (ETA) for the concom to override the board's decision to reverse the decision. I appreciate her efforts, and I hope they are successful. If they are not, I will be forced by the board concom, by the harasser, to choose between parting ways with a con that has been of incalculable value to me as an author, a reader, and given me a whole circle of friends, who are, right now, dealing with this issue, or I will have to show my support for a harasser, for harassment, or, that I at least condone it, by returning.
It is a choice that is no choice. If the original decision stands, I will be writing to the concom and asking them not to consider me for panels and to take me off all their mailing lists, and I will go to Connecticon for that weekend instead. My contributions to the con are minimal bordering on negligible, but it's importance to me is great. I will miss it, if I must miss it. But if I must miss it, I will.

Thanks, all, for the good brain wishes. Going to be camping this weekend, so no internets for me after sometime unknown tomorrow, but I appreciate it. I will attempt to pull my shit together sharpish.

It's true, it's true, it's all for you.
I went out in the snow, knowing it wasn't snow, knowing that I was sick, and sickness was going to be the end of me, but not feeling it yet, just the anticipation. It was cold and dry.
There was a king whose right hand betrayed him on the castle in the mountain where they fought their greatest enemy. Betrayed him because the king's little son, who was also there, asked him a stupid question. I took the boy and ran.
There was other stuff, I am not sure if they were connected, you know, except for having dreamed both bits. Busy weekend this weekend. Back soon.

So then
It was not my place to get involved in this. I acted without understanding what was going on, and managed to hit just about everyone, including the person I thought I was helping. I think I am going to be quiet for a while, now.
