SEX SECRETS, SEX CRIMINALS
New comedy series by Fraction and Zdarsky from Image Comics in September

Suzie has a secret. When she has sex, she stops time. She’s alone with this secret until she meets John, a young man with the same “gift.” In the new Image Comics series SEX CRIMINALS by Matt Fraction (SATELLITE SAM) and Chip Zdarsky, Suzie and John embark on a journey of self-discovery, intimacy, and… well, actually, they do what every time-stops-when-you-have-sex couple would do: They rob banks.

SEX CRIMINALS’ sexy bank-robbing action starts in September, when Fraction and Zdarsky will take readers on a romp they won’t soon forget.

In an interview with MTV Geek at Image Expo earlier in July, writer Fraction talked about jumping into the sex comedy genre in comics.

“What is comics’ The Apartment? What is comics’ Some Like It Hot? It doesn’t exist,” he said. “I love the genre in another medium, but it seemed like a completely virgin territory, no pun intended.”

Artist Zdarsky keeps the tone snappy and fun with full-color art that’s the opposite of grim-’n’-gritty.

“I’m trying to make pages feel like candy, so you want to eat them, but also maybe sleep with them?” he said. “I wanted it to look as fun as it sounds: a bright, punchy book. ‘Adult’ is too synonymous with ‘dark’ in comics and I think Matt and I want to make sex fun again … in the book … just … just in the book. Sex should be dark drudgery in real life."

SEX CRIMINALS #1 will be in stores on September 4 and can be pre-ordered now from the July issue of Previews (Diamond code JUL130403.)

The Day the Earth Smiled

In this rare image taken on July 19, 2013, the wide-angle camera on NASA’s Cassini spacecraft has captured Saturn’s rings and our planet Earth and its moon in the same frame. It is only one footprint in a mosaic of 33 footprints covering the entire Saturn ring system (including Saturn itself).  At each footprint, images were taken in different spectral filters for a total of 323 images: some were taken for scientific purposes and some to produce a natural color mosaic.  This is the only wide-angle footprint that has the Earth-moon system in it.

The dark side of Saturn, its bright limb, the main rings, the F ring, and the G and E rings are clearly seen; the limb of Saturn and the F ring are overexposed. The “breaks" in the brightness of Saturn’s limb are due to the shadows of the rings on the globe of Saturn, preventing sunlight from shining through the atmosphere in those regions.  The E and G rings have been brightened for better visibility.

Earth, which is 898 million miles (1.44 billion kilometers) away in this image, appears as a blue dot at center right; the moon can be seen as a fainter protrusion off its right side. An arrow indicates their location in the annotated version. (The two are clearly seen as separate objects in the accompanying narrow angle frame: PIA14949.) The other bright dots nearby are stars.

This is only the third time ever that Earth has been imaged from the outer solar system. The acquisition of this image, along with the accompanying composite narrow- and wide-angle image of Earth and the moon and the full mosaic from which both are taken, marked the first time that inhabitants of Earth knew in advance that their planet was being imaged. That opportunity allowed people around the world to join together in social events to celebrate the occasion.

thugkitchen:

I know you need caffeine sometimes but don’t even fucking think about reaching for a RedBull or 5-Hour Energy. I will slap that shit out of your hand so quick you won’t know whatthefuck happened. Energy drinks are toxic and fucking expensive. Money doesn’t grow on trees; coffee does. Don’t waste your time in a fucking line and spend your hard earned cash on something you can make while you’re sleeping. Cold brewed coffee is also way less acidic, making this easier on your stomach. SO GRAB A CUP OF THIS SIMPLE SHIT AND SEIZE THE GODDAMN DAY.

COLD BREWED COFFEE

¾ cup ground coffee (whatever you got is fine)

3 ½ cups cold water

Put the coffee grounds in the bottom of a large container. If you like coffee with some fucking bite, add another ¼ cup of grounds. Slowly pour the water over the grounds and stir. Make sure all the grounds get wet because sometimes there are weird dry pockets and then you’re just wasting fucking coffee. Let this sit in the fridge (or on your counter if its not too fucking hot in your place) overnight or for at least 10 hours. In the morning, strain that shit using a mesh strainer. You know, the ones that look like a screen door. If you have the time, strain one more time through a paper coffee filter to get out the last of the grounds (or don’t and just deal with a couple rogue grounds in your drink). Serve over ice and with some almond milk if that’s your thing.

Makes about 3 ½ cups of coffee (triple this recipe and keep the extra in the fridge all week)

Additional protip: If you’re a coffee-sensitive celiac like me, there’s a chance you can tolerate cold-brewed coffee even if you’re sensitive to hot-brewed. :D It’s worth a shot!
