Though, I just might settle down and start this book, finally.
If you want to be like Guillermo, you can get one of these, too. Electronic version, here. Printed version, here. A signed (by me, no less) copy is available here. If you do spring for one, you will be like him, but unfortunately not as cool. Lookit that hat, for Christ sake. I wish I could pull one of those off.

i like how you give a critique of the movie, and your dinner and never once mention the girl you went on said date with :P Maybe no second date? lol
:) My love life is the only thing I'm private about.
Rick Santorum said he would reinstate Don't Ask Don't Tell if he were president.
"Period."
This was after Americans booed a soldier in uniform WHILE he was serving in Iraq, because, you know, "We support the troops" and all that happy shit.
Santorum is against freedom and equality in every way, shape, and form. Back in the 90s, his wife even got a late-term abortion to save her life. He wouldn't, however, extend that courtesy to anyone else.
What dicks these guys are. The fact that they have any supporters at all scares the shit out me.
I honestly believe this country is doomed.

Had the chance to go out to Phnom Tamao again yesterday. That baby elephant was injured in a snare. But now he/she (?) has a pretty amazing prosthetic leg.

I was with you until this: the "oddball" Christian kid. Hardly.
Ah, well. I lose everyone in the end…..
By the way, your blog is fucking fantastic. I would give my right nut for a few more Tumblrs like yours.

(Don't wanna create a massive reblog thing)
"You're talking about free speech in a school setting. That's what I'm talking about. When I'm in a classroom my kids aren't allowed to say anything offensive. They can't cuss, say "that's gay" or "that's retarded" and they most certainly can't say that they don't like a certain group of people. I overheard one of my students saying "That's gay" to another student. I would have stepped in and yes there would have been a talking to, but another student called him out on it. You also don't seem to understand how screwed up the educational system is. Teachers and schools can get sued over something like this if it escalates into something else.
Now, if there are kids outside of school and they're talking shit, I honestly don't give a fuck. If kids are saying stupid stuff in a group with their friends and I overhear it, as long as it's not too bad or it doesn't instigate a fight, I don't give a shit. Kids can and do say whatever they want. My problem is that this was in school. Schools are regulated and there is no "free speech" in them. That's what I'm talking about."
—-Fair enough. This IS an American school and we all know how bright the bulbs are that come outta those. It's a training institution, not an educational one, so I can see how an opinion, especially an unpopular one, can throw a wrench in the whole Conformity Machine.
Also, the school seems like it may get into a little bit of trouble for this. I'm sure nothing much will come of it, but it may be a pain in the ass for the teacher and admins, which will be a good thing. Maybe they won't be so quick to bully the oddball Christian kid next time.
Feelin feisty tonight :)
Ah, well. I'm done. Just glad I live in an age when I still have a good bit of free speech left. I do mourn for my grandkids, however.
Early Onset of Night: Sometimes The Left Acts Like The Right
An honors student in Fort Worth, Texas, was sent to the principal's office and punished for telling a classmate that he believes homosexuality is wrong. The classmate was a friend and the student said it in confidence.
The teacher overheard it, however, and sent the boy away to the powers that be…
I'm going to assume this is a public school, otherwise private schools do their own thing. In a public school the number one job of a teacher is to protect students and make sure they feel comfortable. This teacher did nothing wrong. Kids under 18 don't have the same constitutional rights as adults, otherwise they wouldn't need parents or guardians to make decisions for them. Also, in a public school they have to follow the school's rules, and the majority of that is making sure that kids feel safe and comfortable. Therefore, this teacher totally acted within his or her rights, and I'm glad the administration did something about it. It's not bullying, it's making sure that kids are safe and protected in schools.
I'm sure your tune would totally be different if this kid said the same thing about black folks or Jewish folks.
Except those that express unpopular opinions. Fuck those ones.
You don't protect bullies. You clearly have never been an educator. You clearly have never been responsible for over 100 students on a daily basis. It's really rather irksome when people who know nothing about education try and talk about it like they do.
The kid wasn't bullying. He turned to his friend and expressed an opinion. You don't like the opinion, so you define it as "bullying" so you can stop him from expressing it. There was no systematic hassling of gay kids. Nothing. Also, I'm not even remotely talking about education. I'm talking about free speech. And you know it.

The teacher overheard it, however, and sent the boy away to the powers that be (no doubt some shmo with a tiny dick, comb-over, and cheap suit). There he was officially fucked with and given an in-school suspension.
For expressing an opinion, mind you.
I am a big supporter of gay rights. Being gay is not only right, but fabulous, and all you kids reading this should immediately go and try it. But punishing someone for expressing an opinion is something those pig fuckers on the right like to do. Don't be like them. Grow a pair.
All speech is fine. All of it. Defining something as hate speech is a bullshit cop-out only wusses take. In fact, hate speech should be the most protected form of speech because once you define something as hate speech, it becomes easier to define something else as hate speech and so on until it's Shut The Fuck Up Time for everyone.
If you disagree with me, then you're an idiot and part of the problem and one day we'll be protesting against you and your bullying disguised as wisdom in knowing what other people should and shouldn't say.
You call yourself a liberal. Act like it. Stop being a Nazi.

Don't Be Afraid of The Dark
So the bowling date did not happen. They were having 'leagues'. No non-league people allowed. Sorry. Now get your non-bowling asses outta here!
Undeterred, we settled for a generic date: Dinner and a Movie.
I ate this penne stuff that was pure cheese. Solid cheese. Cheese as far as the eye could see. There were, oh, maybe 4 or 5 actual pennes….then CHEEEEEEESE!
We went for a walk afterward so I wouldn't throw up, which is never a good idea on a date. Puke: Oh, baby!
The movie was Don't Be Afraid of The Dark, a cute little horror flick I enjoyed. Nothing too challenging. No great surprises, just good clean wholesome terrorizing bloody fun, complete with monsters, a child in danger, and the obligatory Dumbshit Dad.
In the media, all men are stupid, barely able to run their own lives, getting lost in their own bathrooms, not being smart enough to work the fridge door, and if not for the Mom Who Can Do Everything, would likely starve to death right in front of it.
Men are stupid, stupid, stupid. Hollywood, my friends, is run by rabid feminists filled with wishful thinking.
So I liked the movie. It had Katie Holmes in it, who somehow escaped from the Tom Cruise Asylum and actually made a decent flick. Too bad she can't really act. Emotionally, she has about as much range as a BB gun. I like her, though. She was pretty good in this.
The Dumbshit Dad character was played by some guy whose job in the movie was to bumble around idiotically, not getting it and not believing anyone, especially those he claimed to love.
Katie played his girlfriend, which was hardly believable. If this tool actually existed in real life, he would be so unlaid it's not even funny.
The little girl, played by Bailee Madison, was awesome. She looked human and everything, which you don't see in Hollywood people anymore. She could act, too.
Go watch it. Fun stuff.
