It totally works for him, though.

Michael Stipe, I mean.

He’s random, disconnected, flighty, spacey…

I like the REM album Document because it’s the only one that pins Stipe down, corners him, and makes hims SING rather than mumble On every REM album before or after Document, it’s wispy Michael Stipe. Document is the most gutteral shit they ever did.

Yeah, boy.

Michael Stipe: The World's Greatest Mumbler.

Did this guy ever actually say anything?

The Ballad of Ira Hayes - Johnny

This song is legendary among the marines who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s almost cultic. I drank with some of them and this was the song they played, over and over again, for hours. Strange to be at a one song party, but still.

I love this song.

stymification said about the AIRCRASH: This kind of shit makes me want to punch news people in the throat for bad writing and bad logic. Depression doesn’t create a mass murderer, if it did there would be millions of mass murderers. The guy was a mass murderer with depression.

yarnandchocolate said: In my experience, depression never made me want to kill a plane full of people. It only made me want to hurt myself. I call bullshit.

and from Facebook: I’ve gone through some bad depression - the only one I wanted to die was myself. Using depression as an excuse is bogus and insulting to those who really do suffer from it.
XXXXXXXXXXXXX
These folks are right. It gives a bad name to actual depression, to folks who actually suffer from it. Fuck that. A person who wants to create that much pain is not depressed. That person is evil. He killed 149 people…and then there’s their families and communities. Two babies. A high school class. Fuck this guy and his “depression”.

In an age when we refuse to acknowledge real, live evil, it seems we have to make up pretend psychology shit to soothe ourselves.

How pathetic have we become to look something in its face and refuse to see it?

“Suffered from depression” my ass. That pilot was evil and I hope he burns in hell.

Fucking depression….the excuse for everything today.

Have you considered doing an audio/ read-out version of your writing?

Yeah, kinda. Is that a challenge? A friend actually drug me to a poetry reading one time and, after a 6-pack, I got up and read one of my stories, High Carb Diet, to much surprised laughter. I guess after all the tragic and dark poetry they were in the mood for a story about a guy with polyurethane testicles who works in a cubicle and is in love with a girl who doesn’t know he exists.

It’s intoxicating making an audience laugh. Waaaaay better than sex.

intricate syntax, diving into metrical regularity

sometimes deploys another kind of reverberating
The same block that holds incongruously opulent
American (male) hypocrisy can no more be approximated

Here, at the exact dead center of temporary
