New Contract!

It’s official. I suppose if anyone tried to figure it out, they would've. I wasn’t exactly subtle, but hey, I was (am) excited.

Call me superstitious, but I don’t like to announce a book contract based on just the acceptance email. Sure, it’s pretty much a done deal then, but any number of things could change – maybe I don’t like the contract terms, or snail mail loses the paperwork, or… *gasp* they change their mind. Okay, maybe not the last one, but like I said, call me superstitious.

Are you asking yet?

Who is it? What’s getting published? Stop effin’ teasing me Pia!

After a couple of rounds of rejections with revision suggestions, Loose Id has made an offer for Summer Lust. I swung back and forth between frustration that it wasn’t good enough and elation that the editor would give me personal feedback to bring the story up to their standards. I’m glad I stuck it out and didn’t like doubt win. They were great suggestions, and I haven’t made a change that I didn’t like.

An official release date is yet to come, but the target is this summer. The next revision and line edits will delay my work on the sequel to Man Whore but that story is making me pull teeth to get words out anyway. A break may very well be what I need to let the subconscious muck around with it.

I am thrilled to be accepted by Loose Id. Some of my favorite M/M authors publish there, and I’m honored to be a part of that family. If you hear any fangirl squeals, it’s because I’m chatting with the minds that created some damn fine pretty gay boys.

Ciao,
Pia

Blog Thoughts?

I didn't bother to connect my regular blog to GoodReads when I first signed up at this site because sometimes I'd ramble on and on and on and...

Yeah, you get the picture.

Since then, I've reigned in the blog a bit, and have been considering connecting it here. I have a Facebook fan page for those people who only want the news (sans rambling), and the people here seem to enjoy getting to know their favorite authors, so I'm thinking of connecting the blog after all.

Thoughts?

Do you, as readers, seek out the websites and blogs of your favorite writers? Do you prefer to see them scroll through your GoodReads updates instead? Do you think I shouldn't think so much about such things and get back to writing smut?

Ciao,
Pia

Cover Art for Man Whore

Wow! I am so excited to show off my new art for Man Whore, the first in the Personal Demons paranormal series. Reese Dante asked a bunch of questions and let me see the art through its stages to make sure everything came out just right. She is an amazing artist! Morgan is a, shall we say, unique person, and she hit every detail. Dare I say she enjoyed the challenge? Special thanks to Reese for this beautiful work!

In other news, Fallen will be available in print starting next Saturday! (I'll share a little secret. Reese is very excited to have her first angel in print, so drop on by Silver Publishing's website and pick up your copy first!) I am thrilled with this announcement as I hadn't expected it to go to print until I wrote Bran's story, so they could release as one volume.

New Cover Art

Silver Publishing will be releasing two Valentine's Day anthologies - one M/M and one M/F. On February 12th, 2011, they will be releasing some additional short stories with a Valentine's Day theme, separate from the anthology, and that is where I come in. My short story, Bound By Love, will be one of those stand-alone M/M releases.

Click the sexy cover art to read the blurb and add it to your to-read bookshelf.

CRANK

Every Sunday (yes, this blog entry is a procrastination technique) I post a chapter to my freebie M/M fiction, CRANK.

This story started a year and a half ago, but a new story arc starts every summer, so newcomers don't need to read fifty-plus entries to catch up.

Crandall and Mike would prefer to do little more than play music, but both have an unavoidable, undeniable obligation to hunt vampires. What are they to do when the best gig they've had is at a club owned, and catering to, fanged nightlife calling themselves Immortale?

More info on CRANK here: About CRANK

Publishing Update and a Free Kindle

Good morning!

I don’t usually put those two words together in one sentence, but it is Friday. It’s all of five degrees outside, but the weather has been fairly mild up until yesterday, so I can’t really complain. Rain is predicted by Sunday to boot. Welcome to New England.

Man Whore edits are in my inbox. I’m thrilled, beyond excited, to start working on them this weekend. I was on the cusp of starting book two in the series just to visit these boys again, but I don’t want to be writing that while editing the first one. I’m bound to confuse characters at different points of their lives. Edits will be a fun visit to prep me for that second book.

In other publishing news, my short story, Bound By Love, has been accepted by Silver Publishing for a Valentine’s Day release (actually 2/12/2011, but FOR the holiday celebration). They will be releasing two anthologies for the holiday as well – one M/M and one M/F. Keep your eyes out for them.

Speaking of Silver Publishing, to celebrate their 100th release, they are giving away a Kindle! Get more information here: Silver Publishing contest

While you’re there, check out some of those amazing releases! For example, Oracle by RJ Scott placed in the Rainbow Awards for cover art and received an honorable mention in the paranormal category. (Congrats RJ, and cover artist, Reese Dante!) We have new authors trying to get noticed for the first time and seasons authors whose names you’ll recognize, homoerotic and heterosexual romances, short stories and longer novels. Take a browse, and you might bulk up that TBR pile.

Man Whore

I have the release date, so now it feels just a little more official. Man Whore will be available through Silver Publishing starting on March 12, 2011. Huzzah!

This is the first of a series titled, Personal Demons.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the stories in this series. Fallen was fun, without a doubt, but this series is darker and grittier, and I am just so darn excited to work with Silver Publishing again on this new release (and hopefully the entire series).

Here's the blurb:

Morgan is happy as the local slut. His nights fall into three categories: one-nighters, boy toys, and just friends. So when a new favorite boy-toy, Adam Medina, gives him an ultimatum – real dates or no sex – Morgan moves on without argument. Even as Morgan struggles to purge the man from his thoughts, life seems destine to taunt his whorish ways.

Morgan isn’t the only one fascinated by Adam. A new demon clutch has moved into the city and they have their sights set on harvesting the blood and souls of its inhabitants. Morgan is ready to learn about relationships, but he and Adam may not survive long enough to find out if love is in their future.

The Storyteller and NaNoWriMo

I’ve been working on my NaNo project every day. To be honest, I’d be writing this much even if it wasn’t November. Because of that, this will be the last year I officially participate in NaNoWriMo. Let’s face it, I don’t tend to remember to update that website after the first two weeks anyway, so I never technically “win”.

Is that so true? My first book was published last October and I have a second under contract. That’s a bigger win in my book. Fallen was written at a quicker pace that even NaNo requires, and the other, Man Whore, was last year’s NaNo. I hated it (Man Whore) by the third week of November, and eventually moved on to something else. A few month’s afterwards, I picked it up again and figured out why I got the big Suck Vibes off of it. At the time of its acceptance (not long before this year’s NaNo started) I had gone from hating it to not only loving it, but planning out several other books to follow in the series.

Is NaNo everything it’s cracked up to be? Sure it is, if you know how to use it. Can NaNo be bad for some writers? Absolutely, everyone has different writing styles and techniques. I’m not going to take sides, but I will admit that NaNo has been very helpful for me and, at the same time, I have designed other processes for completing my stories that work better for me.

How so? Well, I won’t bore you with the details, but sometimes a story isn’t ready to be told, and sometimes it flows at a daily pace of 2,000 words or more. For now, I’m on track for a NaNo word count and that isn’t counting blog posts, or the weekly CRANK freebie that will still be completed throughout the NaNo competition. This is my job. I love it, but it’s still a job, and writing words daily is the main skill required to continue the work I love. It’s time I admit that I don’t need things like Resolutions and NaNoWriMo to be a storyteller.

Man Whore

I haven’t tweeted or blogged about it much – I’ve been recovering from the mad rush to edit two stories and get them submitted – but I am still very excited.

About what?

MAN WHORE, the first in my Personal Demons series, was accepted by Silver Publishing. This story/series will be much darker than FALLEN, and more, uh, explicit. (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) To celebrate, I wrote a synopsis for the next four stories in the series. Exciting, huh?

On the FALLEN front, first and foremost, the cover is up for voting on the Imperial Artisan cover artists’ award. Go vote for Reese Dante, or for your favorite cover HERE.

Secondly, Amazon.com offers a free sample of FALLEN for Kindle users. Plus, you can get FALLEN from Silver Publishing directly, or now from your favorite distributors, such as ARe and Coffee Time Romance. B&N fans should see it available within the next day or two depending on when the site decides to cooperate with uploads again.

Now I must leave you to work on my weekly CRANK freebie. The vampires are up to something, and Mike and Crandall are fighting over walking right into their lair unarmed.

Happy Halloween and Blessed Samhain!
