I DID IT! Finally, I wrote THAT scene. It's the first scene where my characters have sex...after all, it is a romance book. According to one of my romance writing references, it is the "1st Love Scene" and the "Mid-point" of the book. But it's not really quite the middle.
I have to confess though, when I started the book back in 2006, I started in the middle and worked outward...it happened to be a sex scene. I just might keep that original love scene for later in the novel.
The key to a romance novel is that the focus of the book must be on the development of the romance between the two main characters...and that it must be a happy-ever-after ending. That said, I love that I can use Guam and WWII as the backdrop for this love story. Of course, the goal of writing this book is to share with the world our culture and Guam's plight in WWII...and how that war has affected us to this day.
At this point, a few internal conflicts have been addressed/overcome, and the war on Guam has ended. There are a several months where my main male character's Army unit....
