Blue Fire Saga Author Pens Twi FanFiction Story
Because so many of my fans are also Twilight fans, I decided to take a whack at writing a piece of Twilight fanfiction. I think it came out great — and so do all the readers so far! It’s a short story, approx. 2900 words, about Bella and Edward shortly after the events of Breaking Dawn.

Here are the questions all the authors are answering about their books:
What is the working title of your book? My “book” is actually a series, called the Blue Fire Saga. The first book is Breathless. The 5th book is being released October 31. The title is Heartless.
Where did the idea come from for the book? Strangely enough, the idea for my book originated with an offhand comment from a friend, who said “you should write something with vampires in it—anything with vampires sells.” I wanted it to be a different kind of vampire book, however, so I invented my own vampire hunters (volkaanes) and even created one-fanged vampires. As the series has progressed, I’ve added wizards, zombies, a witch and a Necromancer. The books are still at heart paranormal romance, though.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? Emma Watson would be good if she’d go blonde for the role, or Jennifer Lawrence. A few of my friends have mentioned Taylor Swift. Now THAT would be box office gold—Taylor and vampires! For the male lead, I think Kellen Lutz would be great—he’d bring in those millions of Twilight fans. Channing Frye would be good, too!
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? Shy college freshman meets a supernatural vampire hunter and a vampire and is drawn into a world she never knew existed.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? All my books are self-published. You can see all of them at http://www.scottprussing.com. All the Blue Fire Saga books are available as ebooks at Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? Approximately six months for the first draft of book 1, Breathless, and another month or two for editing and polishing. The following four books took a bit less time, because my “world” was built and I was familiar with my main characters.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? It’s hard to compare it to other books. It’s like Twilight, but it’s not, and it’s like Vampire Diaries, but it’s not. Several different reviewers have written things like: “breathes new life into the vampire genre” or “a new twist on vampire romance books.”
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? Probably the most interesting thing about my books is the variety of characters. The lead female is a human college freshman, until we learn in book 2 that she has some wizard powers in her that she must learn how to control. The male lead is a supernatural creature of my own creation called a volkaane. Volkaanes possess a magical inner fire (blue) that they use to slay vampires. My books also contain one-fanged vampires (crippled versions of the real thing), wizards (light and dark), zombies, a witch and a Necromancer.
