“And if I refuse?”
Hades Aidoneus Chthonios stared him in the eye, emotionless. “War.”

So pretty! What music did you use for the video?
Oh thank you! The piece I used for the video is called Sicilliene by Gabriel Fauré. The refrain gives me goosebumps.

Hardbacks…I have been trying to decide which investment I plan to make with the initial take after I publish The Good Counselor.
I am torn between doing Spanish/French/Italian/German/Chinese/Tagalog translations for my books and doing cover and interior designs for hardcovers.
I may do hardcovers first, since I can potentially roll some of the income from that into translation services which will be… expensive.
I have a great service for hardcovers but they won’t be cheap, and like the trade paperbacks I would be drawing the bare minimum in royalties to produce them.
But… if I do, who would want hardcovers of Receiver of Many, Destroyer of Light, and The Good Counselor?
I ABSOLUTELY WOULD BUY HARDBACKS!!! I obviously own the first two as paperbacks already, but I Do Not Care!!! I’m concerned that you wouldn’t be getting paid enough, though.
I’d be getting paid enough, I guess. The paperback price, as I have it set, only nets me about $2 per book in royalties, but when I started out I didn’t know how many copies I was going to sell (its been tens of thousands at this point !!!) was more important to me that I have it out and available than if I made it affordable for people.
Because of inflation, I’m probably going to be forced by production costs to raise the trade paperback price on The Good Counselor to $22.99 from the first two books’ price of $19.99, and there’s a very real chance that I will then have to pull the price on the first two higher.
Since I first started publishing, the goal was to make all the copies of my books affordable, be it the ebook or the paperback. The hardcover I want to do the same with. Even if I am not making as much per book, I want more people to read it.
Ingram offers a lot of choices for a gorgeous hardback, and I think I might have options for hot stamped lettering on jackets (that gold stuff) patterned end papers, and I’d likely include some extras in the hardcover editions (glossary? annotated translations? map of Chthonia?)
I’ve got a lot of ideas. I want to make sure I’m getting paid for them but I also have to make sure that my ideas are feasible and affordable.
Oh speaking of raising funds to get that done, who would be interested in Receiver of Many book merch?
Speaking as an early reader of your work, who then got busy with life and lost track of your story, and then thought it was removed entirely from the internet because my scans of the Greek Mythology fanfiction section weren’t coming up with a story that was as long as I remembered yours being… (And thankfully I slowed down to read every summary until I found it again)… Your novels are merch of a wonderful story. And should you wish to pursue the hardcover version, I will repurchase all of the wonderful novels. I have no clue what other merch you could make but frankly, I would probably also be interested in that as well.
Thank you!!
