Destroyer of Light PSA

fangirl-who-dreams:

Y'all know I’ve been joyfully ranting about a book called “Receiver of Many” for the past few months.

Wellllll now I’m going to rant about its sequel, “Destroyer of Light”!!!

The highly anticipated sequel to the riveting story about Hades and Persephone is, without a doubt, going to be spectacular. This “duology” follows the beautiful growth between this Greek god and goddess and how their relationship would change the world forever. Filled with a driving plot, marvelous character growth of all characters such as Zeus and Demeter, and some really hot and drool-worthy sex scenes that are written elegantly.

If you read and fell in love with the first book, don’t wait - go preorder your copy of “Destroyer of Light” now! All links to online shops can be found on author Rachel Alexander’s Tumblr @kata-chthonia. If you haven’t read the first book….WHY?

Fantasy, Greek mythology, romance, erotica, and a strong female character who will make you believe you can be a queen…what more could you want!

I have a habit of slowing down when what I have yet to read gets smaller and smaller so I honestly have yet to finish RoM( >_>")

Yup, the dreaded asymptotic limit on books you don’t want to have end.

I know it well ;)

Fortunately, Destroyer of Light is coming out in 33 days, so if you just say to yourself that you’re in the middle of the story when you reach the end of Receiver of Many, you should get through the book in time.

Out of curiosity, have you ever considered an audiobook version of your novel? (Based off a conversation I had with a coworker...) :3

I would LOVE to do an audio book for Receiver of Many and Destroyer of Light.

But that would require one of the following options:

1. A big time investment and a moderate to expensive monetary investment for studio time if I recorded it myself (which would be my preference), but the big downside is that it would take away time from writing the next book.

-or-

2. A big money investment to pay a voice artist and pay for studio time, and a moderate time investment to vet the right person with the right voice and make sure they show up on time and deliver.

So for now, an audio book, though it would be a pretty profitable idea, is off the table.

For the same reason this is why I’m not doing Spanish/Italian/French translations of my book. Translating each book would cost roughly $10,000 per language based on word count.

Similarly, producing an audio book (and this is studio time alone) would cost about $7,000 a book.

I’m not really prepared to run another Kickstarter, much less one for a minimum $14K, then spend 32 total vocal hours recording, which would probably have to be split up into 16 different sessions so I don’t fry the crap out of my voice.

So while I would love to have audiobooks available, this is one of the casualties of self publishing. The upside is I get to be in charge of distribution and marketing and at the same time, that’s also the downside of self-publishing.

Do you have a plan for what books are coming out next? Like how many sequels/ spinoffs and when you will release them?

I do not.

The next book in the series is The Good Counselor and I am still working on The Thrice Plowed Field. I have a lot of books planned, and am going to take the lesson learned from other authors working on protracted series and just say that I am in the midst of writing, but I don’t have a plan for release dates.

My preference would be to release The Thrice Plowed Field in September, and release The Good Counselor some time next year. But life has a funny way of interfering with plans, as I learned last year, and near future developments might postpone my plans.

So in short, I have ideas left, right, and center for more books, but I cannot pinpoint exactly when they’ll be released. :)
