My  lord,  I  love  you.  More  than  any…  possibility,  more  than  any  future  plan.  The  Fates  laugh  at our  plans,  anyway.  I  love  every  flaw,  every  virtue  that  outweighs  those  flaws  a  thousandfold.  You were  afraid  I  would  reject  you;  you  were  only  trying  to  keep  your  heart  safe.”

‘You’ll be mine.’ Hades and Persephone. So, I started reading ‘Receiver of many’ by Rachel Alexander AKA Kata Chthonia and oh my god, I love it! Can’t wait for the book to be published later this month! If you love Hades and Persephone, I really recommend it. Hope you like my illustration anyway!

More Persephone~

So for those followers who didn’t find me through my Hades/Persephone stuff and don’t know about Receiver of Many by Rachel Alexander: It is a retelling of the Abduction of Persephone myth, and all the Hades/Persephone work that I’ve made so far have all been based on her book. She is finally getting the book published, and the first part of her book will be released on September 23.

I’ve already contributed to the Kickstarter so I’m actually not doing it for the giveaway (although you are welcome to!) I just want to spread the word because I owe a lot to this book and I’ve spent the past 9 months(!) just straight up doing art based on it.

I rarely stay in fandom for more than a month or two, and for this book to continuously inspire me to make more art has been a very new sensation for me. I willingly chose to have spent almost a year of what little free time I have just drawing Receiver of Many fanart, to the point that I’m actually making an entire illustrated fanfic based on her book.

My interpretation of Aidoneus and Persephone owes much to her writing. If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve seen from my Tumblr so far, you won’t be disappointed by her book. I fucking love it.

Right now her book is going on sale at Amazon, so grab it before the sale ends!

Persephone Remembering

ASPHODEL

is the only thing my fingers deserve to grow
I care not for the velvet rose and brushed sunflower
nor hardened wheat or ripened barley
I would cover the land with your sacred bloom of death
Just for a memory of you.

So this is going to be my last painting for a while - I’m slowly planning out a short fancomic(??? I’m not sure how to categorize it exactly) based off Receiver of Many, and this piece is part of that comic that I’m going to undertake. (And if this is any indication of how slow I work, I’ll probably finish this comic in like, 6 years. Sigh)

Consider this a tease for the upcoming comic! :D

Absolutely beautiful!!!

The other sons of Nyx. I wonder if Charon’s wings are missing altogether or if he’s got like little stubs under his cloak. Tried to make Hypnos a softer version of Thanatos. Poor Morpheus is just a dude in a cloak. Sorry, buddy, not sure how to make you more distinct at the moment. :/

Persephone Falling

HEART

thunders in my chest.
The cypresses quake above-
smothers my throat with your essence
as I, trembling
descend into the darkness.

SO! To celebrate Receiver of Many’s release plus the Fall Equinox today, here’s another piece from the illustrated fanfic-story-thing I’m working on.

In the book Charon describes how the Styx receives the souls lost at sea in the world above. I figure this is one of many ways Persephone chooses to descend back into Hades ;)
