I redrew the cover for Anthesteria a bit (or whatever the title is going to be in Swedish. My publisher suggested Gudabröllop, “Wedding of the Gods”, which I think could work. But there’s still time to think about it). I also tried out some colors. Have to say it looks quite nice. ^^

Receiver of Many, Chapter 10

https://archiveofourown.org/works/690880/chapters/53200525

“There isn’t anyone I cannot have, the old, the young, maiden or youth…

because in the end, I take them all.

The occasional young man is quite fine, but I prefer the maiden when I come for her.

Sometimes, she pleads to go; other times, she pleads to stay. But out of the scores I send every day to the shores of the river…

there is at least one…

…who pleads for me .”

Okay, I’m sorry but I just feel so restless about the bushfires, I made a mini-comic. Maybe it will get a few more people to donate. I wish I could do more.  Please see http://wires.org.au if you want to help.

Sketch Tuesday(ish?) - Aphrodite

artofelaineho:

Sketch Tuesday(ish?) - Aphrodite

Here’s Aphrodite from @therkalexander‘s Receiver of Many! I hadn’t done fanart of her books for a while, and a few days ago I was seized by inspiration.

RoM’s Aphrodite always intrigued me, because this was the first time where I read Aphrodite looking more Egyptian than Hellenistic. She’s described having golden skin and dark hair, and her eyes rimmed with kohl.

And she’s also described as “impossibly beautiful” which… *sweats* is a lot of pressure for an artist to depict.

I try and console myself by saying that Aphrodite changes her appearance in the books - “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and all that - so this form of Aphrodite comes from the eyes of Persephone (and I guess me, since I painted her).

Aphrodite is also described as having a piercing gaze, so I wanted to keep that. She holds a pomegranate in this one, and the interpretation of it is up to you.
