Georgia O'Keeffe
“Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing. Making your unknown known is the important thing--and keeping the unknown always beyond you.”
Georgia O'Keefe

Rabindranath Tagore
“That which oppresses me, is it my soul trying to come out in the open, or the soul of the world knocking at my heart for its entrance?”
Rabindranath Tagore, Stray Birds

Anne Sexton
“From "Her Kind"

I have found the warm caves in the woods,
filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves,
closets, silks, innumerable goods;
fixed the suppers for the worms and the elves:
whining, rearranging the disaligned.
A woman like that is misunderstood.
I have been her kind.”
Anne Sexton

Alice Walker
“Be nobody's darling;
Be an outcast.
Take the contradictions
Of your life
And wrap around
You like a shawl,
To parry stones
To keep you warm.

Watch the people succumb
To madness
With ample cheer;
Let them look askance at you
And you askance reply.

Be an outcast;
Be pleased to walk alone
(Uncool)
Or line the crowded
River beds
With other impetuous
Fools.

Make a merry gathering
On the bank
Where thousands perished
For brave hurt words
They said.

Be nobody's darling;
Be an outcast.
Qualified to live
Among your dead.”
Alice Walker, Everyday Use

Rabindranath Tagore
“for we women are not only the deities of the household fire, but the flame of the soul itself.”
Rabindranath Tagore, The Home and the World
