Marketing is out of my comfort zone!

I am not not normally a person who likes to ask for favours. And self-promotion is something I find difficult; to me it feels like boasting. It makes me uncomfortable. So marketing a book all by myself, especially a self-published book, is very challenging to me.

Plus I really don't know what I'm doing! Yesterday I had an idea. To place a free ad in our local classified website in the "books" section, offering a free copy to anyone who would be prepared to read Hidden and offer an honest review. I had four responses in an hour. I wonder if anything will come of it...
