Candy Wars II
Am currently writing Candy Wars II – here is an excerpt from the opening prologue:
KERBOOSH!
The sound reverberated around the castle. Fairies scattered in every direction. Time was running out.
A lone fairy zipped along the crumbling castle corridors, dodging this way and that, as the debris fell around her.
CRRNCH
A column exploded in front of her, shards of teeth spraying everywhere. The tooth fairy didn't stop, but merely flicked her wand and the rain of shrapnel flew around her, as if she had an invisible umbrella.
She flew deeper into the bowels of the castle until the sounds of the battle were a muffled clatter.
She turned the corner and stopped.
It was a dead end.
In front of her stood a wall of gold teeth.

Its been a while since I've read a book geared toward a younger audience. But I read this to my 6 year old and both of us loved it!

What do you do when your brother disappears and your parents don't even remember him? For Emily, it means an investigation that leads her to the land of the Tooth Fairies, and into the middle of a war.
It's never really explained WHY James is totally forgotten by all the adults, except perhaps as generic "magic". Nevertheless, it's a good story about siblings needing to stick together. It also makes me want to read the sequel, which isn't even out yet.

New Bug Island review
By
Bear Lover "bear lover" (Eastern Shore, MD)
The author sent me a copy of this book to read. I believe that it is really good book. I work in a school media center and am always looking for books to recommend. This is one I will be sure to add to my list. The story sort of reminded me of Jurassic Park but without the gore. The sound effects definitely add to the story suspense.
