Author Portraits: Diantha Jones Steampunk Fairy Final
This was a GREAT deal of work, but it was loads of fun, for sure! The thing about steampunk is bringing out all of those snazzy accessories and patterns into one solid piece of fashion. It's crazy, but rewarding when one can pull it off (which is why I think so many people love wearing the style so much).
I had to think of a style that would fit Ms.Jone's own persona and taste. And even though she's very stylized in this illustration, I wanted to make sure the clothing she wore in this piece c...

Author Portraits: Diantha Jones Vampire Final
This one turned out quite nicely, if I say so, myself. I had gotten more comfortable with drawing Ms.Jone's face up to this point, so it was simply a matter of accentuating on some features to make her more vampy looking. I'm happy about how the moon in the background turned out too. ^_^

Author Portraits: Diantha Jones Steampunk Fairy 1
Ooooooh boy, this one gonna be off the wall! I've always wanted to do something with steampunk, and I used to draw fairies a lot when I was a kid. So, this is just win-win all over for me!
So, this is a VERY rough sketch of the pic. Getting the pose and Diantha's face was top priority at this stage. A basis of the outfit was included, but not too in depth. Hee hee, who wants to put hours of work in on elaborate clothing such as steampunk attire only to have the client tell you they don't like...

Author Portraits: Diantha Jones Vampire 3
This will probably be the last shot of this pic you'll get to see before I finish it up. The basis of it's all here, though. With a lil' more touches to the clothing and that smirk inviting you to dinner (in more ways than one) we have a vampiress in the making ^_^. Can't wait to show ya the final!

Author Portraits: Diantha Jones Vampire 2
Ahhhhh. There she is. I decided to stick with a hair style more familiar with Diantha on my second round, this time using a photo reference. The fangs aren't in yet (as my lovely client was very quick to point out at this stage :P) but I did give her some blood-red eyes to hint at the fact that she's not your normal gal. :)

Author Portraits: Diantha Jones Vampire 1
Boy-o-boy! I've been so busy with illustrations lately, haven't I? Those visual creative juices have been getting a heck of a workout, lemme tell ya!
So, my homegirl, Author Diantha Jones (I know her by her first name, so hah!) had this crazy neat idea of having some various portraits of her. One was just a nice casual version of her, but then she wanted to be a vamp chick and a steampunk fairy. How could I say no!?
So, here's my first attempt of vamping her up. Diiiiiiidn't work out too well b...

Sci-fi Anthology Cover Pt 2
Happy Memorial Day! Things are starting to come together, bit by bit, for my client's anthology cover. Work on the city was a bit of a tuffy, but it was loads of fun to work on! Now it's time to work on the illustration depicting the past. It shouldn't take quite as long as the city scape since I've done numerous landscapes before. This thing is just about in the bag! Can't wait to show off the final product! ^_^

Sci-fi Anthology City 2
I'm putting some more attention on the shapes and silhouettes of the buildings in the pic, while trying to get an idea of how they may look with some atmospheric perspective. Ah. I toned down those overgrown round things overtaking the skyline too. Hee hee, like I told the client, I thought I had something going on with them, buuuuuuuuuut then I thought they were a bit much. But they're still in there. Promise! You just gotta look hard enough ;).
