The Faery Portal

The Order of Brigid's Cross - The Faery Portal

The second book in the Order of Brigid's Cross - The Faery Portal is finally here! For those of you who read Mary #19 - this book will answer your questions about what the heck was going on with Ian and Gillian. And, you'll understand a little bit more about Adeline McKinley the ghost we met at the little cottage.

And, for those fans of the first Order of Brigid's Cross - this book will answer some of your questions about the members of the Order and the members of the Fae. And will probably having you asking a few more by the end of the book.

I hope you enjoy it!

Something Brand New

Rowan's Responsibility: The Willoughby Witches

Happy Memorial Day! I love this holiday. Not only does it remind us to remember all those who have sacrificed to maintain our freedoms, but it is also the unofficial start of summer. I remember that summer used to last forever when I was a child. Summer vacation often seemed longer than the school year. It was during those months that I would run my library card ragged, reading all kinds of adventures as I propped myself up against the big tree in the backyard. The Black Stallion books, the James Herriot series, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Little Women and anything else I could lay my hands on. We never went on a vacation - but I traveled all over the world when I was sitting under that tree.
So, I have something brand new to announce. A new series - The Willoughby Witches. There will be four books in this series and I just finished the first - Rowan's Responsibility. The series is about a family of four witches - a mother and her three daughters - who are quirky, sassy, fun and powerful. They are working together to fulfill a responsibility left to them from three other strong women who died 120 years ago. I really hope you like it.
Have a wonderful holiday! And take time to read this summer - go places you've never been before!!!
Take care,
Terri

Foiled - A Shear Disaster Mystery (Book 2)

I'm releasing my newest book - Foiled - this week and I thought I'd give y'all a sneak peek!!
Sneak Peek - Foiled:
I decided to sit down and work on the books. No sooner had I started than my office door creaked open and Maribelle peeked in.
“You just gotta come out and see what the wind blew into the salon,” she whispered, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
“What?” I started to ask.
She shook her head to stop me and smiled. “Oh, no, you have got to see this to believe this,” she said.
I pushed back my chair and followed her back to the salon. My jaw nearly hit the ground and I had to clap a hand over my mouth to stop the gasp of shock. There, at the front of my salon, was Miss “Bless-Your-Heart” herself, Blaire Arrington. She didn’t see me as I came towards the front desk because she was too busy arguing with Ida.
“I know the owner of this salon,” she stated with determination. “And I’m sure, knowing who I am in this community, she would make sure I got an appointment immediately.”
Maribelle chuckled softly. “An appointment on the first bus out of town,” she whispered to me.
I moved closer to the desk and took a deep breath. “Why hello, Blaire,” I said. “It’s nice of you to drop by. What can I do for you?”
She smiled triumphantly at Ida, which immediately lost her ten points. Which, considering she walked in with a negative ten, she wasn’t doing too well.
“I’d like an appointment to get my hair done, with highlights,” she said. “With Kyle.”
I nodded and walked to stand next to Ida. Smiling, I put my hand on Ida’s shoulder. “Thank you so much, Ida,” I said. “I think I’d better handle this one.”
Ida rolled her eyes. “She’s all yours,” she whispered.
“What did she say?” Blaire demanded.
I turned slowly and met Blaire’s eyes with a complete lack of concern. “You wanted an appointment with Kyle,” I said, flipping open the appointment book. “For a cut, style, and highlights, correct?”
“Yes, that’s right,” she replied, showing a moue of displeasure because I hadn’t answered her question.
I glanced down at the book and then back up at her. “Morning or afternoon better for you?” I asked.
Her smile brightened and she glanced at her watch. “Afternoon,” she said.
I nodded. “I have an opening for Kyle on September 2nd at one o’clock,” I said, picking up a pencil and holding it as if I were ready to jot her name in.
“What!?!” she shouted. “That’s a month away.”
“And then his next appointment is a week later,” I said with a shrug. “He’s a very popular stylist.”
“But…but…I wanted an appointment today,” she said.
“Oh, today. Isn’t that sweet,” I said, enjoying every moment of this interaction. “We just don’t do walk-ins, Blaire. It’s appointment only.”
“Then make an appointment for me,” she demanded. “He can just fit me in.”
I smiled at her, then looked over at Kyle who was just finishing up with a client. “Kyle,” I called. “When you’re finished, could you come over here for a moment?”
“Sure, sweetie,” Kyle called back. “Let me just tell this ravishing woman how much I enjoyed our time together.”
The sexagenarian giggled like a schoolgirl. “Oh, you,” she said, digging into her purse and pulling out a hefty tip. “Now, don’t forget I have that wedding in two weeks and I just have to look better than Bunny.”
Kyle took the tip. “Thank you, darling,” he replied. “Don’t worry, I will fit you in. Just leave your number with Ida when you pay the bill and I’ll call you tomorrow with the time.”
Ida moved to the other side of the counter, rang up the charges, and took the woman’s phone number.
“I just love how he makes me feel,” she whispered to Ida.
“He’s very good at what he does,” Ida agreed with a smile.
“Bye, bye, Kyle,” the woman called as she pushed open the door.
“Bye darling,” Kyle called back as he walked to the desk and then he met my eyes. “So, what’s up, buttercup?”
“I need an appointment,” Blaire interrupted.
Kyle turned, took his time examining her, and then nodded. “Oh, honey, yes, you do,” he agreed.
I bit my lip to keep from laughing and turned my face down to look at the appointment book.
“That’s not what I meant,” Blaire countered with a self-important nod. “I’m a very important person in this town with a lot of influence. If I like you and I tell others, you will have your career made in this town.”
Kyle chuckled and didn’t bother to hide it. “Oh, honey, I’ve made it in New York City. And, as Frankie says, if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.”
He stepped away from the counter and spread his arms out. “Start spreading the news,” he sang. “I’m leaving today.”
“I want to be a part of it,” Kasey replied.
“New York. New York,” Maribelle added.
Blaire looked around in astonishment. “What are you all doing?” she screamed. “I need an appointment. I just heard you tell that old lady you could fit her in. So, fit me in!”
Kyle stopped singing, turned and placed his elbows on the counter, and then rested his chin in his hands. “Well, sweetie, that’s because I like her,” he said.
Blaire looked like a fish, gasping for air. Her mouth opening and closing, but no words coming out. Finally, she pounded her fist on the counter, spun around, and marched out of the salon.
There was a moment of silence as Blaire stormed to her car. Then all the ladies in the salon started to clap.
Kyle turned around and bowed to his appreciative audience, then he looked at me.
“I sensed that she was wearing the fragrance Eau de Bitch,” he said with a smile. “I hope I didn’t go overboard.”
“You? Go overboard?” I said with a grin. “When would that ever happen?”
I hugged him. “You just made my day,” I replied.
Ida came over and hugged Kyle and then hugged me. “Thank you,” she said. “I’ve wanted to wipe that smug, snooty smile off her face for the longest time.”
The phone rang and Ida picked it up. Her eyes widened and then she nodded. “Of course,” she said. “I’ll write you in.”
She hung up the phone and started to laugh. “Well, you’ll never guess who just called to make sure we wrote her name in for September 2nd at one?”
“Well, ladies, by that time, we should have our song totally choreographed,” he said, kicking up his leg. “New York. New York.”
